# Hi guys,
I uploaded a track called 'the aliens are coming... dont leave me' as a rock song, but i'd like to rerecord some of the guitaring and melodies to make the tune into a trace... maybe even hiphop tune.

Any tips on how if you were to use it (I am really new to using samples and software) how you would go about recreating the track?

Cheers in advance.
Rob

# Umn..
that's a loaded question robinsane...

Personally, in trance and stuff (which I don't think I really do.. as I suck at genres.. I just make "alividlife" music)

but you are going to have to pre-emptively cut and sample knowing that trance and such is heavy on 4 on the floor.
boom-boom-boom-boom (repeat)

and then in hip-hop it's a little easier..
but it depends..

Cutting and sampling on major themes and passages on your guitar work, while still keeping the driving on the "feel" your percussive elements...

See --- it really depends??? Ya know?

It may help to know what program you are using.. but I am only knowledgeable in ableton as it's all I use lol...

And as always, don't worry if you mess up.. Just give yourself permission to FAIL epically, and you maybe surprised after trying out some failed attempts.. that you you inertly "GET IT"-- you know?

good luck!

# oh and btw, I don't mean that MAKING hip hop beat is EASY...
what he is asking

IS about cutting and sampling his guitar work for the beats..
NOT
making beats.....

I wouldn't say that one is easier or harder really.
Music in general is either fun or difficult.

# Thats some good advice, at home here all i have is acid pro and a couple of drum progs and recording progs.
Im wondering whether to put a call out for help and just do some guitar samples/lines and see if anyone wants to play around with them! After hearing alot of the tunes on here its pretty intimidating! hahaha

# I say the biggest thing you need to do is just replace the drum beat with an electronic beat. That will be really the first big step. I recently just started making tons of electronic music, and the only big difference between that and my old stuff is the electronic beat and a new mindset, along with a few different synth loops here and there.

# Have you listened to Infected Mushroom? I just listened to your track and it reminds me of their stuff, they do psy-trance with metal influences. Have a listen if you can find some of their music it might give you some ideas
