Description : Alen sent his instrumental track to me almost a year ago and I finally finished mixing my parts with his.
The track is a mix of genres but I like to call it Rock.
It really is just our two styles jamming together and was a lot of fun as we are very different musically but I say never let that stop you from experimenting, that's one of the great things about this site so any feedback would be appreciated!
UPDATE,I added more guitar parts with my Stratage electric guitar.
Thanks,
Allen.

Thank you SpellJammer. You might remember the intro from over A year ago,I couldn't finish it as a song so I added it to Alen9r's track and hoped it would all work.I had the electric guitar parts stashed away as well and decided to mix it all up.

Thank you for commenting my friend.

I am not a big fan of guitars and rock beats. But THIS is in my mp3 player now. Great chords, big drums and awesome brave mood overall, sounds like a movie soundtrack, I imagine bikers or a muscle car moving on some straight american road in the desert.

Hello my friend,it's so great to hear from you!
I like your description and honestly am glad you had a listen and commented.
You were one of the first artists I found when I joined the site and used your loops for my first loop based song "Last One Standing".
I appreciate your talent and that makes your review even more special.

Thanks for your comments and talent,I'm grateful!

You back in business again mate? Thought i'd drop by and check out whats been happening. This is solid. I like the progression. Starts of like a ballad, then it goes a bit pink floydish (although i don't think dave gilmore could have pulled that solo off) Then we're in to a good old fashioned bit of rock.
Outstanding quality!!!

Thanks FR,I thought I'd throw in everything but the kitchen sink and hoped it would all come together.
Alen had a great foundation that I built around.
He offered to change anything I wanted about his track to suit me but that would have defeated the point...to make it a combination of our styles...and I'm to old to change mine.

Thanks again for the comments and I bet David has plenty of extra guitars,I'll get my people in touch with his.

As you know, this may be my last track for a while and your opinion means a lot to me and Alen9R I'm sure.

I need to tell Alen9R that I posted this track...I've been working on it so long he might think I gave up!

LOVE that intro.

This made me think of wrestling, and a very long ride (which I could REALLY use right now).

Great collab guys!!!

Hey Patricia!
You told me before about the wrestling reminder for you...now I want you to know that I'm smiling right now as I type this...Wrestling is not what I had in mind..lol!

I do know what you mean...still smiling,I'm glad it reminds you of something and you know how much I appreciate every review and comment you give, and did I say how proud of you I am for all the great music you keep making?

My wife of 28yrs lost her mother to cancer on Christmas 2009 so we sat together this year and both shed tears as we listened to Not Forgotten...it means so much to us.

Your music is making a difference on a personal level and you should be very proud of what you do andas I said...I am!

FANTASTIC time, of music, but also guitars. Sometimes the union of very different genres provide a powerful combination .... Here is the proof .... Again, a great time.
Merci pour ce partage ....

Thank you my friend.
I am so happy that you also understand the large divide that Alen9R and I share but our desire to create something a little different pushes us forward, sink or swim we had to try.

Thanks Dan!

my fingers started smoking just listening to that second part..yes..2 very different approaches...I was getting real comfortable listening to the acoustic session when things took a turn towards the rock..(and some superb playing I might add)...now I`m not sure which part I liked best...but,the whole thing is superb listening & a display of fine musicianship...amazing how these collaborations just multiply the talent.....well done...Ed

AllenV replied 28th Jan 2012 - 13 years ago
Thank you Ed,I'm glad you got the idea here.It did start out for me to be just a Rock song but it didn't take long for me to realize and accept this would be a hybrid type of song.

Alen and I are very different but we both share so much respect for what each other does musically.
My production is flawed but I was hoping this would be an interesting listen from two different worlds.

Thanks again Ed and I appreciate your take on this one!

Magic, magnificent A/A.
Like Richard Wilbur (from his poem The Ride) sez:

The horse beneath me seemed
To know what course to steer
Through the horror of snow I dreamed,
And so I had no fear,

Nor was I chilled to death
By the wind’s white shudders, thanks
To the veils of his patient breath
And the mist of sweat from his flanks.

Thank you Michael,I wasn't familiar with the beautiful poem.

I'm so pleased you liked the track...it may not appeal to all rock lovers but as I said this site allows us to try new combinations that maybe we would not otherwise... and if it doesn't work we all learn something so it's a win win for all of us.

Thanks again for your support

Description : This is my newest creation, at a stage very near to completion. No third-party mastering or mixing, as with all my tracks. Just have to fix a few tiny things. I FINALLY WAS ABLE TO MIX EVERYTHING IN THE SAME SESSION. This song has all human-played instruments - no quantization or MIDI! My brother does all the vocals except for the interlude part, which I do. My other brother plays the rhythm guitar (a Gibson Les Paul Custom - only one of 12 in the world!!) and I play the accompanying guitar (a Johnny Mar Jag and PRS). He has a lot of guitars :P A good friend of ours, Ronnie, plays the bass and another friend, Freddie, plays the drums. The drum track was done in one take (had to use an electric drum set due to time constraints - but acoustic kits are so much better). Overall, pretty satisfied with the result. Let me know your thoughts.

Description : The first track I sing on. Cheap stage mic & no fancy plugins. Heavily guitar laden to the point it's got a bit of a shoegaze thing going on. I pulled the lyrics out of my ass & yes, they're a bit silly.

Description : BIG UPDATE 26/02/2014 - So, this was an 18 min track that I have now successfully split in two. 2nd half I uploaded a few weeks ago (Things That Should Always Be, with the bouncy 2 min reggae intro). This is the first half, which has a new mix, a mega chill, meditative ending and a little jazz thrown in for good measure. Takes a few minutes for beat to really kick in. Constantly evolving electric guitar, bass guitar, acoustic drums and lead banjo driven by fat, busy 80BPM grooves with a bit of a reggae and shuffle feel. Also: synth choir voices, dulcimer, violin, cello, shimmering pads. Builds up gradually to nice and rocking and then gets taken back down for the big comedown chill. I really don't know what sort of genre this is except 'far out'. I think it sounds more like a live band than one guy playing instruments and manipulating a DAW. Not my best track but a bit of blissful, sunny island fun. Real positive vibe here so I hope you give it a chance to unfold and unfurl. Sit back, clear your schedule and immerse yourself in these trippy sonic experiments cooked up deep in my off-planet underground laboratory. I have to send the MP3 to Earth via space courier (not cheap).

Description : This track was like the inhale after an exhale of aggressive industrial-electro-sludge tracks that I had put out that summer and fall. This was the more reserved, and introspective winter track. It's nothing spectacular, but I still really enjoy it. I hope you do too. Take care. V.
