At first excuse me, if I write nonsense, but sometimes I´m looking for the correct English words.
As I told you before I love that song. The beginning is mysterious and it should go on after the drums started. So you definitely need to make an extended mix. Maybe you can use some loops.
You tell me, you´ve got difficulties making tracks more than 4 minutes. But don’t consider time. A song needs some kind of structure. Introduction, bridge, main part, end. I know that it isn´t easy to plan a song in parts, but I can tell you what I do.
After I planned the mood and the basic idea some tracks seem to come to me at once, they appear and then the precision work begins. I try different sounds and options. I burn the song on a cd and listen to it in my car while I drive to work. So I hear what is missing or what I´ve got to change.
I hope this was helpful for you. Next thing I´ve gotta do is to listen to your soundcloud stuff.
Maybe you can take a look at my video clips, because if one of my songs has been done I do a second thing: the video clip. http://www.youtube.com/user/House7th/videos?sort=p&view=0

This song makes me nod my head, my right foot starts moving, what happens? When the drums started, I was gone in the rhythm. I could hear a lot more of that tune.

Yes, it does build quite nicely, then kind of shuts off. I see what you mean. Which makes me wonder if I should make an extended mix or something. What would you recommend? I've had difficulties making tracks more than 4 minutes as far as cohesion...just started doing this. Thanks for any feedback. You can message me here if you'd like. Greatly appreciated!

PS. I'm also on SoundCloud if you want to check out my beginner tracks. They're kinda fun too.

Hiya GG my friend. Lovely piece of work you have created here. Dreamy, blissfull, relaxing, easy on the ear, simple yet not dull. Lovely switch when the drums kick in. Then that bass just rolls along like a Rolls Royce fulla helium. Quality work indeed.

Ha! Rolls Royce full helium - indeed! :) Think I should make an extended mix per 7th House's comments above? Message me if you think so.

And, Thank you!

I went to the other place you sent me a link to and was able to hear it clearly. Nice. I like the ending when all of a sudden the drums go to banging.

Thanks, Neal. Big smile.

Yes, a goal on this one was a really good intro and build up. Some of the synth loops were my own, some were taken from GB. Am currently working on a new track with BabyGee - also great female vocals. This one is sounding like a fusion of Air and The Cure.

I'll stay tuned for more of your stuff! Cheers! xo

Is it supposed to build? I see your comment, wait for it. Ah. I just don't get it...I can't hear it and I wanna.....It seems to start out in complete silence then gets a little louder but not much..I can hear others pieces fine. let me know..I mean I'm listening to it right now and right at the end when the drums kick in that's all I hear clearly, everything else is very low.

ggarris replied 25th Jun 2012 - 12 years ago
Yes, it is supposed to build. It's weird because I can hear it fine on my Mac with headphones and with good computer speakers. Maybe SoundCloud will tell if there is something wrong with the Production? It's posted there with some of my other songs I haven't gotten around to putting on here yet.

hmm. Did that then realized that since my speaker system is running through the same jack it shouldn't matter. However, I gave it the benefit of the doubt. Still can't hear it until the end.

Ahha...right at the end i could hear it better. But from the start, I think I hear something but it's so low it's indistinguishable from my laptop fan..just couldn't hear it bud. I'd love to.
and sorry for the second post. went back and kicked the song closer to the end.

Greetings again ggarris. I tried my best to listen to this. Couldn't hear any of the first part of this and about mid way it started to get a wee bit louder but still not loud enough, even with my sound system turned up all the way. I had to stop it and turn my system down. Didn't want the volume to suddenly jump out and find me wearing speaker goo. "StarFleet boost your matter gain, we're losing them" Not getting enough signal.........I'm sure it's good but until I can hear it I can't call it.
Being honest.

Description : Sounds of the sea and trippy acidy washes with a cool beat and some live acoustic guitar. Written in Cubase with live guitar and keys etc. The sound of the sea and birds was recorded on the beach where I used to live. After moving to the city one sunny day I was telling stories to a friend about living by the sea and started making this track.

Description : I used some new "Anthem" pickups from L.R. Baggs on my Martin acoustic to see how it performed, and it definitely beat my expectations. Captured the sound perfectly as I needed.

Anyhoo, this song is almost a prayer, hence the repetitiveness of the verses. As Christians, we believe that God will one day return and take away every suffering and all evil for good; in that regard, this song is almost one of waiting too. Very simple, with vocal harmonies and whatnot. Hope you enjoy this as much as I did making it. Made in 13 hours.

Someone else wrote the words, I was just inspired to use them. I only added the "Yeah" and "Amen."

Description : So a guy buys a nice guitar at a pawn shop but returns it a few days later after waking from a sound sleep to hear it playing by itself. When he tells of his experience he is shocked to learn the owner had actually died while playing it. Is it fantasy or truth? Is the guitar in this track that very same guitar? Its all part of the mystery and fun of Halloween !
EDIT: modified ending to a deeper voice

Description : A progressive journey incorporating deep ambient chillout, swing jazz, hip hop, d'n'b, trance and a slight touch of acid with a thousand ninjas battling in space. Features a great deal of my lead slide resonator guitar playing. Also a whole load of synths, programmed acoustic drum kits and manipulated drum loops, big basslines, regular electric guitar, vocoded guitar parts and bass guitar (distorted right at the end). If you like deep chill, far out soaring beauty, fat beats and 170 BPM uplifting slide trance controlled mayhem, you might just get into this. In my heaven there is an endless supply of honey mangoes (an exquisite beauty of the fruit world) and even more slide guitar. A 1,000-year-long version of this track plays there on a loop (long enough not to get bored of it) but here I offer you the Earthly 11 min version. You must be very good to be accepted into my heaven to hear the full thousand year version so best start now. It may be heaven's main theme tune but it's not above criticism so feel free to let me know what you think of it. Maybe you prefer the soundtrack in hell. I hear it's pretty badass...
