I checked the button bass link to see what was up. The cube is an environment that models a midi interface, that doesn't interest me very much, bc real world midi interfaces are both cheap and excellent these days(not the lemur, grrr). To me a sample pack is like a puzzle, and if you put it together "too correctly" it looks a lot like the picture on the cover of the box. This mix represents one available picture, a composition, the cube represents many pictures, it's a device, like a sliding puzzle. The cube is not a song.
Your arrangement here is very good, and in my opinion remixing content you don't create is helpful in isolating the arranging process and improving your song structure skills. In the end it's not how cool the sounds are, but how the arrangement guides the listener's attention to the sounds and the message.
Did I just lecture like an ass?!
My bad. Nice track bro! Good arrangements. :D

Well looking back in the comments, I now view things differently, making a song out of loops isn't necessarily wrong. It surely isn't unique but now my view changed that doing so makes up for a interesting change in what I normally produce. what makes making music fun is that it brings joy to people.
I think your comment is very well thought out, and describes the idea of the cube indeed in detail.

But I am happy you enjoyed this track nevertheless ;)
I had to start somewhere didn't I? hahaha

nice thing this is! It a little bit sounds like the 80`s synth-pop song or early electro, but cool!
Thx for sharing!

Did you get the samples from button bass dubstep cube? Still a good song
johnnyproducing
johnnyproducing replied 7th Jan 2014 - 11 years ago
No, I got the sample through some sample pack I downloaded but I noticed later after someone commented that dubstep cube had the same thing (so maybe the cube is made from that sample pack or visa versa)

I'm listening to this and thinking this would translate really well into a trance track. It sounds kind of retro at the beginning but then when the bass comes in it really kicks off into new school.
Like the way you played with those synths and i'm glad i stopped over to hear this track.

This gotta be my slowest reply ever, I am sorry for that but looperman decided to not post my reply or something so here ya go. I am glad you liked it but it's all loops so not really made by me. I just arranged it. Again I feel sorry for dropping this late reply

I like this! I don't think it sounds that much like the dubstep cube. Nice sounding pads! The bass is cool too! Good mixing! Well done!

Haha thanks but it was indeed kinda button based because I only used loops in it, all my other songs are originally made though. Just thought it sounded cool if I mixed it like this and this was the outcome

Description : Faking! - (Prod. BCI)

My first full song (10+ hrs of work) I've made in years.
I blended in a lot of Splice samples but the idea is completely original.

I know it isn't everyone's favorite genre of music but it's definitely mine

Any feedback is much appreciated

Description : If you're looking for Skrillex and his cronies, you've come to the wrong place. It's not that kind of dubstep. This track opens with a nod to my fellow Vault Dwellers and Wanderers of the Wastes, and transitions into a deep, dark celebration of the Horror movie genre. Some of you will get it. Some of you won't. Either way, I hope you all enjoy it. Thanks for listening. Take care. V.

Description : This is my new single! It's a little different style than I'd normally go for (deeper and darker), but I really liked the instrumental, which is my HakaN96, and just HAD to do something.

Let me know what you think of it! My mixing/mastering skills arent the best. I put the song under the Dubstep genre (because of the instrumental) but with all the singing i'm not sure if it's more popish or not. What do you think?

If you enjoyed the song please like my Facebook page! I would love to hear from you!

Description : yep, I made another one. I've been working a lot on my music lately, coming out with new songs in a day or 2 of making them. I took a snip of a minecraft youtuber's video because I got inspiration of another song, with.. the same snippet. I kind of copied the idea, but I didn't add too many vocals. Please, tell me if the mixing is right because something seems off. This is actually my first 6 minute song, idk if I did everything correctly layout-wise. (btw title won't let me put apostrophes)
