As regards these words: "I've got a couple of guitars, and this one is a 7 string Ibanez Prestige guitar tuned to ADGCFAD, the chorus riff is in A, so yeah, it sounds low", I was going to ask if it was a 7-string, I just didn't get round to writing it. I love heavy low end so maybe I should get a 7-string too. But maybe another guitar just for serious low end is a bit of an extravagance (I already have a few and am actually mostly a fingerstyle slide resonator player). Do you find it offers you much more aside from heavy, distorted low end riffs? And is there anyone using one who's not using it to make metal?
I've got another 6 string low tuned guitar which is in A# F A# D# G C, that also works on low riffs (just get thicker strings and adjust the action) but I find that the larger scale of the 7 string gives those nice long vibrations, you can almost feel the power of the riff with your palm.
I wouldn't say that it opens a whole new world of possibilities, it all depends on your playing style and genre. But yeah.. if you want a deep low end while preserving the ability to play high pitched screetching solos - definetely have a look at the 7 or 8 string guitars
Yes, good work. Interesting mix of elements done in a creative and melodic way. It does sound like you've left lots of space for a singer and I'm sure there are lots who could make a really good song out of it. If you don't ever get one, I'd suggest going back in and changing a few things (maybe adding more)so that it doesn't still sound like space has been left for a singer. I love the real low end tone. I play in dropped D but don't get that sort of sound. Is it dropped C, perhaps? I do a very electic mix of genres but have lots of heavyish stuff. Try this hiphop/jazz/d'b'/saxophone metal track https://www.looperman.com/tracks/detail/145971 or this heavy slide guitar one http://www2.mixposure.com/Static_Nomad/song_focus_24417.php
Thanks, yes, you are right, I've left a lot of space for a singer to have room to breathe. This is not a kind of song I would write as an instrumental, so there will be a singer sooner or later.

Hello the47, Great sounding music right here. Everything sounds really top notch. The snare sounds good and tight. Is that drum take recorded live or samples? Guitar is great and feeling it a lot. When that synth starts whistling gets me hyped for everything to rock it out. Thanks for sharing. Peace.
This is pretty interesting. Much of it makes me think of the Euro/Scandinavian goth metal style (bands like Sirenia, Within Temptation, ect)...and then the midsection veers into 'The More Things Change'-era Machine Head. Nice!
I could easily picture a female singer with a wide range doing something cool with this track.
cheers for helping point out the flaws, it's really good to be pushed out of the comfort zone sometimes. If you guys haven't noticed the snare problem - I would have left it as it was. And now, listening to the old version - it does sound dull
thanks for your feedback!
This song is still in demo mode (I started working on it yesterday) but yeah, feel free to mix around with it! It would inspire me and may steer in a whole new direction

Description : I asked Danke if I could add some vocals to his track Future Machine and he kindly agreed and sent me the track. The lyrics are about a soldiers experience in war as he and his trench mates are told to get up and out of their trench and attack the enemy across open fields. I can only imagine the fear, tension and chaos that goes through one's mind at that moment.
Description : I discovered Meshuggah around 2003 and was blown away by the power, complexity and super Heavy sound of their music. Their "Nothing" album marked the switch to 8 string guitars and pushed Heavy Metal into a whole new territory. My track is a variant cover of their song "Nebulous". I have stayed pretty close to the original but added a few dynamic elements of my own. Its loud, its super heavy and way out there...Beyond Nebulous.
Description : This unconventional metal track is dedicated to Valvedriver https://www.looperman.com/users/profile/841435 though it's not a parody of his fine music or me actively trying to sound like it. I struggled for months with the first few minutes of this track knowing that I must be able to take it somewhere deeper, more psychedelic and powerful. Then I loaded some sampled choir voice instruments, as used in my track Reckful https://www.looperman.com/tracks/detail/160356 and suddenly found myself happily in Valveland - not a place I visit often. Feeling amply Valvedriven and newly inspired, I added the last few minutes fairly easily and very quickly. So: it's a twisting, turning mixture of grunge, menacing ambient, mystical metal and ultra-heavy funk. Instruments: electric guitar+bass, synth basses, female choir voices, one synth pad, some other synths on the nastier side of things and a few programmed heavy acoustic drumkits playing a mixture of triplets and straighter grooves. Interesting thoughts appreciated. Favourite bits? Shit bits? Please listen on good headphones/speakers as there's a lot of heavy bass in this. Now get ready to rock: balls out, hands in the air and with rebellious joy in your heart. Just try not to headbang the hell out of your laptop. Go!
Description : Whats up guys?! Been a while I know. Iv'e moved around a lot but have finally settled down and have been hard at work with my metal band. Unfortunately I've had to put my solo work on hold for a bit while I'm recording with the band. We are being professionally recorded now, a very big step up from the last recording of my band that I posted here. Anyways, hope you guys enjoy! We are, Raze The Pyre.

Description : Something I slapped together in like an hour or so, I bought a new midi keyboard with a sequencer which made dragging and dropping sounds where I wanted 'em easy, so really this was a test run, I usually write a lot of metal and don't have the time to upload my material but here's a start, this has a techno vibe???? I guess to it. Enjoy.
Description : A grimy hard rock track fully produced digitally (even the drums!). The awesome main riff has been provided by prodreiter here on Looperman, and I made the drums in Addictive Drums 2, I will make them available as loops later.

Looking forward to hear Jenny singing on it (please JJ... please...)
And I think the snare is OK (now?)

Your music is powerful and snare needs to be sharp, so the whole drum can make song even more powerful.
If you know what i mean?
hopefully more opinions will clear out this matter
