Yo. I had to comment again as Beardyman is just such a musical genius. What a coincidence that you recommended that BBC radio clip. I had just watched it the day before as I regularly check for new uploads of his incredible live performances.
He's one of the greatest improvisers out there and such a natural comedian and also one of the best going. That track Timey Wimey from your link was amazing. From the presenter suggesting he sounded a bit Australian, he very quickly had a great didg loop going and then the killer beat kicked in. And he's a great improvisational lyricist. He can write some pretty good songs in real time, which is such a difficult skill.
So many other clips of his that I could suggest though make sure you check his full show in Seattle. Some of his rapping in that is really badass. He's also a great rapper as he can accurately sound like a whole load of other great rappers. Great reggae singer too.
The big shame for me (and I'd tell him this if I ever met him) is that he hasn't actually written and recorded a quality album of original material. He's got just one album and it's not very good.
But make sure you listen to his Don't Look Back In Africa song as it's one of the cleverest and most alternative cover songs I've ever heard.
I could witter on and on about Beardyman forever!
P.S. I've been to only two Beardyman gigs. Last one was him performing with a brilliant drummer, two violinists and a cellist. All spontaneous improvisational stuff, as usual.
You mentioned to me recently a 100BPM track so I guess this is it.
When the fat beat kicks in, it sounds like you're using some sort of dubstep kit. But not playing dubstep/brostep style - which I mostly do not like.
1:25 pause and high screech is cool. Then some megabass. It's now much dubsteppier but a good, throbbing rather than just all over the place craziness.
And at 2:05 you have your interesting melody and atmosphere that returns as well as your funky little bass so it's really quite musical.
2:43 drowsy lead
2:52 changes in note/chord that is a good bit of movement rather than dubstep wobbling about on one note.
Gotta bring that beat back in so you do. My only real complaint regarding the last section is that it doesn't really add much to the track. It's just a repeat of a previous section though it is good so that's OK. Just would have preferred some new element or new presentation of previous elements.
Overall excellent Great work.
Finally, here's my favourite musical performer and insane musical comedy genius giving you a bit of vocal-made d'n'b and dubstep. He's got way better stuff than this, including killer whole shows but I know you're gonna like this one.
Thank you for the detailed review of my track. I definitely appreciate that a lot! I guess you're kinda right about the second bass section, I still need to work on my arrangement a lot!
This is really interesting to me, throughout it I feel this frequency vibration that remains constant throughout. The glitch elements are subtle in a good way, and are mixed and effected very well. I kind of like it man, very fun listen!! faved!
Most of the glitches, bass and leads are all just variations of one patch i created in massive and lots of chopping bits up! The bass guitar was the scarbee rickenbacker sample library for kontakt. That thing sounds awesome and very realistic. Thanks for listening and the fav!
Description : Feel free to check out the video on YT as well (Alan McLaren Project - Upside Down) of this 6min journey from electronic to rock with some psychedelic moments...
This is my latest, but also one of my earliest tracks.... any feedback is more than welcome, thanks :)
Description : A demo of one of my current projects. The chorus vocal sounds like "Aaaaraashe" to me. The song is in C# minor with a nod to C# pythagorean on the chorus. The beat on the verse was inspired by the Peter Gabriel song Intruder.
Description : This is one of my earliest productions that I did at the start of my recording career. I did not have a keyboard at the time I made this song, so I improvised and used my sister's iPad and a 5 dollar GarageBand application instead, and plugged the headset jack into into my PT6 rig and did my best to turn each individual track (which were mono and there were about 25 tracks or so) into a stereo image. Then recorded vocals over it. My computer was so old and slow that I had to mix my music and then BOUNCE it to a new session - four times. My computer (which had 512 MB RAM and an 80 GB hard drive) couldn't handle more than 8 tracks at a time or it'd stop working because the processor couldn't handle it. Took me FOREVER to do. But I got it done. Had a lot of fun doing it too, even if it isn't my "best" work. I'm still happy with it, considering I didn't have many tools to choose from at the time.
Description : Long time lurker first time poster, pretty new to production n stuff, this is my first track in Ableton Live.
was going for a darkwave/synthwave sound, reminiscent of Justice, Carpenter Brut, Perturbator, ect.
Looking for some feed back, constructive criticisms or even just your thoughts if you liked it or not. This is just a rough cut on this current WIP, just the bones of it if you will.. If you have some cool title suggestions, would love to hear those too.
Thanks for listening.

Description : Far out mid-tempo fat beat deep chillout grooves with Eastern/Arabic and slightly menacing vibes, huge delayed synth bass and a great palette of psychedelic layered and intricate sounds (mostly synths) and a stirring, epic feel. Even has guitar solo section reminiscent of some 80s power rock which is then followed by a brief synth harp solo. I began making it straight after staying round the flat of the flute player from the legendary Ozric Tentacles - easily the greatest ever space rock band. I made this in about 2001 and still think it might be my best track (and it's nice and short, for a change). My production skills were much weaker in those days (no EQ, compression or mastering used here) but, somehow, this one turned out pretty much just right. Feel free to disagree. Now sit back and get ready to trip extremely far out. If you manage to return, let me know how that trip was...
Description : Got some spare time finally...just started on some random ideas basically (lets say kygo meets alan walker). A blend of dubstep, edm, downbeat, tropical etc.
It's still a work in progress, so i would appreciate your honest inputs. Thanks to all those whose loops I have used in here, sorry I don't have time to search them out.
Edit-added some more filthy sounds from my previous tracks and gave it some ending. Advice will be helpful.

I really like this, especially the groove, and am surprised by the blend of sounds so am making it a favourite.
Much more detail from me tomorrow (not enough time right now) so a very short comment from me here.
Until then, well done!
