Description : Okay, got a take I liked of the lyrics I wrote for that "Liberate" song in the Looptrack Challenge. Here's a link to the original if you haven't heard it. https://www.looperman.com/tracks/detail/156860
Not much changed, save for the vocals are present, and so was my drive to express myself. Please excuse the word "preach," I am not religious and yet I still have beliefs. Read into the lyrics however you want, I'm just waking up to the reality. If anyone has suggestions, please don't hold back. There's no shame in listening to good advice. Thank you very much for listening.

If you have time take a listen and give Spivkurl some feedback.
Thank you very much! It means a lot coming from a recent addition to our Looperman family! Though the song is over three years old now, it still means a lot to me.
It is a very Looperman track, but also very much Spivkurl. I had no choice but to express myself on this one, and it worked out really well. "Anger is a gift," if you believe what RATM says... maybe sometimes it is, if used wisely.
I appreciate your listen and comment! Have a good day!
Totally dig it Spiv. Nice minimal structure with a super cool overdriven and distorted bass groove and loads of perfectly quirky sound effect flavoring. Your vocal track is killer on this and definitely reminiscent of David Byrne. Strong production !
Neomorpheus, thank you for stopping by to hear this one! I've been digging up the past in the last week, and it's cool to hear new comments on this stuff!
I appreciate the compliment on the vocal track! There are those moments when something in life becomes so drastic that artistic expression is the only way to protect yourself from drastic response. This was one of those moments. It started out as just the instrumental, for the competition, but then it all fell into place when sh*t got f*(ked up.
David Byrne is something I definitely would not have thought of, and yet it makes total sense. I have listened to Byrne or Talking Heads at every point in my life which I can remember. My father even played Heads pretty obsessively when I was a child. It was also a radio staple at the time. Even stole some of their work from the library around 1992, ha ha... The statute of limitations is probably gone now. Also, I have lost any respect I had for the library since then, considering that they are participating in the quiet "book burning" of our oppressive government and their quest to change history. They throw away two dumpsters full of books and reference material PER WEEK in our city, most often in direct relation to my recent research... Native american history and US civil war history most recently, but also law reference, self help, expressionist art, poetry, foreign language, hydroponics... the list goes on. It is offensive and scary. I have been rescuing the books as best as I can.
Thank you much for the listen and comment! I have been resurrecting some older tunes on Looperman in the past week, and it's good to get some new feedback on them!
Most of the credit for this goes to the loop makers. It's not often that I compose using only Looperman loops, but this one seemed relevant.
Mate thought I had reviewed this one, sorry I missed it, catchy piece matey, liking your vocals Pat, good beat and synths, has a your trade mark sound, which I always enjoy...uniquely Spiv...Very good listen my friend...Thank you for sharing Pat...Peace n Respect friend...Mosaic...
Hello friend! Good to hear from you! Happy that you enjoyed this track. I was very sad and angry when I did these vocals, and it shows through a bit, but I still like how it turned out. Thanks for stopping in!
Hi Spivkurl,
just listening to your new collection right now. There are many pieces I can feel some connection to, espetially no. 1,
2, 3, 12, 13, 15 and 16. But needless to say - going into this music I like them even more. Very mixed and creative stuff. I can hear classical 80's funk groove in the 'Liberate'. A lot of 90's progressive trance, minimal techno, oldschool rave (Psychogenic Sammich)- am I right?
I am really enjoying a true classic analog sound image.
For sure I will be returning and listening to the album again.
Great work!
Hello friend, and thank you for your honest feedback while listening to the tracks! The specifics of which songs you felt a connection with is invaluable to me, so I really appreciate that! I think introducing some recent collaborations into the track list made this quite a different album than my usual, and also induced a bit of discontinuity. The minimal techno is definitely a prominent influence in many tracks. I barely knew what trance was in the 90's, and I'd say progressive trance is one of my least listened to styles of trance... not to mention that this album may be the only of my albums that didn't contain any songs which are specifically trance. It's interesting you associate "psychogenic sammich" as old school rave, as I went into it without any expectations or intentions. I've also basically never been to rave, so it's funny, I guess I went to a christian (make no assumptions due to use of this word) festival back in the 90's and there was a rave, but that's about it. Makes me happy to hear your "true classic analog sound image" reaction, as on many of the songs I was trying quite a lot to induce that feeling... one of my dreams as an artist is to at some point get some vinyl pressed of an album or EP. Thank you very much for your well expressed comment!
Ha ha! Definitely one of the more memorable comments I've gotten, so thank you for that. I honestly don't know if it was those aliens, or if the old gods are waking, if it's the crap in the air, if I live on a ley line, or if I've recently gotten magic powers. Either way, big energy lately going on and I had to let it out. Thank you for listening and leaving a comment!
Really liked the instrumental of this so was curious to hear with your vocals. Has that sig spivkurl sound, I especially like the vocal around the 1:03 mark where you put a bit more power into the singing. The vocals are quite cool but if Im honest I think I still like the instrumental better, just my preference. Great job once again dude!
P.s. Got a couple of days at home before I fly to the states so gonna be working like mad on our collab!

Hey friend thank you much for the feedback! I was trying to be real for a change, and to get this shit out of my head. Worked pretty well for me. I still dig the instrumental, but this will be the one on my album. I'm a little lost in the mix, and I have tons of collabs that are somewhere in the process, and I think it's all everyone else's turn to send something, so I feel liberated myself in that I did my part for the moment. Look forward to hearing from you!
Another Awesome track Spivkurl! That bass drives this track. I really like the overall vibe of this. You delivered some great lyrics again. It was a very enjoyable listen. Thanks for posting. This one's a Fav. Nice work as usual.
I love the bass on this track and the weirdness that the vocals bring to the track. All of the sounds going on in the background are really interesting too. Another great track!
Hey thanks very much buddy! I too am quite fond of the bass. It's totally one of the most important songs to me that I've done to date, so your comment on the vocals means a lot to me. Loopmakers deserve most of the credit for the sounds on this song, so shout out to them! Thank you for listening friend!!
Hello again friend! I really appreciate the feedback! I'm very into talking heads, maybe not quite as much Devo, but I still respect what they do. Either way, it's nice of you to leave a comment! Thanks!
Hi Spivkurl,
sounds special in a good way,all put together very well,
interesting Stuff out of the Mainstream, realy like the groove,
hoovers matches good i think.
i agree with FR it´s inspiring stuff, have a nice day,
DRO
Hello friend, I really appreciate the feedback and listen! "Out of the mainstream" is a nice thing to say! I love hoovers, but kind of suck at using them... so I used it as a sort of symbol. Thank you very much for stopping in!
That distinct Spivkurl voice! I admit that I hadn't heard your vocal stylings before remixing Nightr8 but now I've become a fan. I liked the vocal-less version of Liberate as well but this takes it to a whole different level.
I only wish that I could have read the lyrics while listening. I tried to but it kept linking me to the feature track page :(
Hello friend, thank you for taking a listen and giving some feedback! I really got lazy using my voice for several years, but I'm, trying to train myself again. Working to find other ways of inducing an artificial vibe without autotune too. I am fond of the instrumental as well, I could just tell it wasn't over... now alternately I can't tell if it's over... weird. Sorry about the lyric link. Tried to sing clearly, but it goes by quick. Thank you again! Looking forward to visiting your profile.
As strange as your vocals sound(in a good way)there is something I like that keeps me listening till the end, the is a 80's pop group that you sound like and I just cant put my finger on it ?
Means a lot to me friend. I can't even describe how strange this week, month, year...(whatever) has been. Shit was pretty much blowing up as this song came together... just pleased I got something out of it and that some people can enjoy listening. Quite curious about which group you're reminded of, mostly to see whether I'm influenced by them directly or not...heh. Thank you very much for your listen and support!
The grove reminds me on good old days of wave and punk and stuff, that was around us all the time then. The voice fits great to the rest and has realy a bit of TH .....
I feel good at listen and thats the best point of all.
Thank you very much for the kind feedback! I have felt a little anarchic and punk recently, and that definitely carried into the song, especially the vocal take yesterday. I'm honored by your words, and I thank you!
Hey Pat, this is awesome stuff man....just when I think you can't surprise me any more, poof, here you come bringing the vocals.
Awesome work. No critique for the mix and master (you are one of the best) and the vocals are outstanding. All I got for you is a 10 out of 10 and a ton of respect. Definitely added to favorites. Hope all is well.
This comment made my day, so thank you! It was all about timing with this track, I mean the timing of when I worked on it. Yesterday was the perfect moment to get the lead vocals right, and I feel like I got a decent take. Hard to accept so many compliments at once, especially from a musician I respect deeply. I appreciate the fave, and the listen! Hope you are well!
bang on. I love it. Didn't expect to enjoy this track more with lyrics added, but definately do! For me what happens with your voice and what is going on with the rest of the sound makes a lot of enjoyable interesting sense. I'm gonna have to unfavour the no-lyrics one now, because after hearing this, that one sounds like its unfinished and really missing something. Thank you for posting! take care
That's quite a compliment that it feels unfinished without the vocals, so thank you for that! I was trying to keep a similar ethic throughout creation of the song, if that makes sense. I always appreciate your feedback and support! Take care!
I really appreciate you listening to the new version my friend! While I wasn't drunk, I was intending on an intoxicated vibe... lets compromise and call it "skunken" lyrics. Thank you for your comment!
Hey thanks much! It's fun to hear people's interpretations of the genre, gotten moombahton, reggaeton, new wave alternative, industrial, electronic dub, cyberpunk... it's just funny I guess... I'm glad that you enjoyed listening. Still can't decide whether to tone down the vocals or not... we'll see. Thank you much for the comment!
Yes this qualifies spiv, interesting vocal choice. Kind of doesn't go with the vibe to me? It works in a incoherently coherent way I guess, and I don't mean this in a bad way. The vocals reminds me of a certain soundtrack to something but I can't think of it. The instrumental still has a nice groove, very unique and stand out entry. peace
Hey friend, thanks for the feedback! I was just thinking in regards to past looptrack challenges, this it was pretty much all loops... whatever works though. Incoherently coherent is okay by me. I'm kind of going for really tuning in my own vibe, so it's bound to rub some people the wrong way. Interesting it reminds you of some soundtrack, couldn't guess what that would be! I really appreciate your listen and honest opinions. Thanks much!
Hello, it's great to meet you! I've read your profile, and it seems we have some common goals. You may also be one of the few that has a similar amount of instruments... just interesting. You have no idea how huge your compliment is for me! Two of my classic favorite bands you mentioned! Seen NIN more times than I can count, and they are amazing. Thank you for your response and fave! I will be listening to something of yours in just a little bit.
Hello Pat, Still liking the sound of how the instrumental goes. Now with the vocals, Takes the listener further into this odd world. The vocals are interestingly strange, the kind of sound alerts the ears right away but I believe the delivery of this take has a strong hold into the spiv universe of irregular design. I listen through all kinds of weird and your style has something that stands alone in the current moment from what the ears have experienced. Normally you would see someone mention that the vocals might be a bit too much for the backing looped track but I like it its oddness and creative difference. It's a hard thing to lead but very easy when you find a direction that could take you down a side trail I believe. Still a fan of the instru thou. Good soup Spiv, Thanks for sharing the idea. Peace.
Hello my friend and thank you for this review with it's depth. Your experience of (and experienced opinions of) the vocals is right on the money as far as I can tell. The lead vocal is one take with no edits, done today. Tried some different effects than usual in the chain, wanted a strong analog strength to it. May have taken it too far, or it at least manipulated the genre. I take what you've written as a compliment, if that's alright? I also like your use of thou! Always love cooking, and soup something I buy processed all too often. Your ideas are well taken too! Thanks!
Nice deep pounding bass and then we're in with the vocal. This is all sounding pretty cool. It's got that cyberpunk feel to it again. The hoovers are nice although they could perhaps be a little louder. I like your crazy vocals though, I must have a go at some lyrics sometime. It's inspiring stuff.
Definitely one for the favs.
FR
Thank you my friend for being the first to leave a comment! The bass definitely anchors the tone and groove of the song, I still can't believe how well the two loops went together. Cyberpunk, that's great! Was sort of the essence I was trying to inject here. I hear what you're saying about the hoovers, and I thank you for the suggestion. I guess I have the hoovers almost instantly begin to be overtaken by a manipulative effect, maybe I could slow it down a little. I love hoovers, but they're so overused, so I tried to give the feel of loss if you know what I mean. So happy you enjoyed the vocals! Tried some new things vocal wise this time, and I think it mostly worked out. Like DesignedImpression just said, they might be too much, who can tell this far in? The only problem is when listening in mono, the vocoder part isn't really heard. Thanks so much for the comment and fave!

Description : Feel free to check out the video on YT as well (Alan McLaren Project - Upside Down) of this 6min journey from electronic to rock with some psychedelic moments...
This is my latest, but also one of my earliest tracks.... any feedback is more than welcome, thanks :)
Description : A demo of one of my current projects. The chorus vocal sounds like "Aaaaraashe" to me. The song is in C# minor with a nod to C# pythagorean on the chorus. The beat on the verse was inspired by the Peter Gabriel song Intruder.
Description : This is one of my earliest productions that I did at the start of my recording career. I did not have a keyboard at the time I made this song, so I improvised and used my sister's iPad and a 5 dollar GarageBand application instead, and plugged the headset jack into into my PT6 rig and did my best to turn each individual track (which were mono and there were about 25 tracks or so) into a stereo image. Then recorded vocals over it. My computer was so old and slow that I had to mix my music and then BOUNCE it to a new session - four times. My computer (which had 512 MB RAM and an 80 GB hard drive) couldn't handle more than 8 tracks at a time or it'd stop working because the processor couldn't handle it. Took me FOREVER to do. But I got it done. Had a lot of fun doing it too, even if it isn't my "best" work. I'm still happy with it, considering I didn't have many tools to choose from at the time.
Description : Long time lurker first time poster, pretty new to production n stuff, this is my first track in Ableton Live.
was going for a darkwave/synthwave sound, reminiscent of Justice, Carpenter Brut, Perturbator, ect.
Looking for some feed back, constructive criticisms or even just your thoughts if you liked it or not. This is just a rough cut on this current WIP, just the bones of it if you will.. If you have some cool title suggestions, would love to hear those too.
Thanks for listening.

Description : Far out mid-tempo fat beat deep chillout grooves with Eastern/Arabic and slightly menacing vibes, huge delayed synth bass and a great palette of psychedelic layered and intricate sounds (mostly synths) and a stirring, epic feel. Even has guitar solo section reminiscent of some 80s power rock which is then followed by a brief synth harp solo. I began making it straight after staying round the flat of the flute player from the legendary Ozric Tentacles - easily the greatest ever space rock band. I made this in about 2001 and still think it might be my best track (and it's nice and short, for a change). My production skills were much weaker in those days (no EQ, compression or mastering used here) but, somehow, this one turned out pretty much just right. Feel free to disagree. Now sit back and get ready to trip extremely far out. If you manage to return, let me know how that trip was...
Description : Got some spare time finally...just started on some random ideas basically (lets say kygo meets alan walker). A blend of dubstep, edm, downbeat, tropical etc.
It's still a work in progress, so i would appreciate your honest inputs. Thanks to all those whose loops I have used in here, sorry I don't have time to search them out.
Edit-added some more filthy sounds from my previous tracks and gave it some ending. Advice will be helpful.
