Hi Alex !!!
Very motivating for me to hear my loops being part of such a cool track !
Great Track... so jazzy !
thanks for using my loops :)
Greetings from Megapaul
Firstly it's really great to hear from you! I'm happy that you liked this one. Thanks for good words! I truly appreciate that.
I must say that I spent quite a lot of time listening to different musicians on here and your guitar productions are really impressive. I hope we could do a serious collab sometime in the future as I progress with my keyb. skills and stylistic playing.
Interesting that you found this one chilled. But it's great to know because usually I try my best to keep everything gentle and not that heavy:) Basically there are 3 main sound sources here: Megapaul's guitars (loops), midi drum performances from EZdrummer and all the rest (made using Roland synth): bassline, el. piano, backgrounds, funky synth (which is actually a clavinet) and guitar sort of solo in the middle as well as Theremin (lol). I do not think I played the clavinet that good as I really want this time(I had to quantize the timing of the audio) - I am still learning how to play properly all this funky stuff.
Thanks again for nice review! Glad you liked the track.
Alex
One very cool laid back number.
I could drive along the coastal express way(A55 in N. Wales the U.K) at two in the morning with that playing no problem.
A55 is my favourite late night road when I want to be alone and listening to stuff ... It's my realtime environment these days for listening.
Very nice piece.
Just trying to figure out how the road you mentioned looks like - I did a search for some images from this place. It looks truly amazing. I do not make late night car driving that much as I seem to function in a very normal way at the moment. Apparently.
Thank you again for your comments. It is appreciated.
A.
thanks for your comment! in order to put the vocals I will probably need to sing myself or go and find someone to make the vocal line for me. It's still possible haha.
Alex!
Nice and tight fusion here. Lots of things happening around this tune, most of them totally unexpected. It's a work of an true artist to get all this to fit together.
Thanks a lot for very nice words. Yes, indeed I picked up some Megapaul's guitars that I downloaded earlier and started adding different elements. There's no really a concrete and very predictable structure here as I am not really listening to so called 'mainstream' too much now. That's why it eventually turned unexpected directions throughout the track. Just trying very different things on keys but of course with respect to the other instruments (drums are from EZdrummer plugin).
A fine, tight composition, Alex. Everything within this project fits very well and you are correct...I hear funk, rock and jazz. Nicely done, my friend!
Cool! Is that a theremin sound near 1:30?? If so great usage of that kind of sound! Wouldn't have thought to put into this kind of idea.
Like what you did with MP's Guitars. Definitely you're bringing something different and cool to the table. Nice work. Thanks for sharing this with us. Agree a good mix of artists. Peace.
Haha it is not a real Theremin (from around 1:28) but just a Roland Juno Di theremin preset. I decided to use this sound on the top as it blends in nicely with other synth-guitar and background ambient sounds in the lower range. Overall it was entirely made on the same roland sound engine. And of course I tried to stick with the Megapaul's guitar colors as possible.
One of your very best Alex....has a really cool combination of rock-pop-funk-soul going on that makes it really quite different...interesting..keeps the ears tuned in all the way..thoughtful composing with the changes that still hold to the overall theme.....take a bow my friend...really excellent....fav...Ed
Megapaul is probably one of the greatest and most inspiring discoveries of mine on this site as he produced a great amount of funky guitar loops.
So just trying out myself on the loops I downloaded when joining the site few months ago.
Sadly collab is not working anytime... creative process can't be rationally controlled I guess... I might be totally wrong though - correct me if so!
Thank you again for very kind feedback and making this one a favourite of you! I really appreciate that and am so happy you liked this production! Alex
awesome stuff man, i am shaking my ass off here to this funkiness. it has some great unpredictable elements in here, i like that a lot. yeah this is fresh and also i feel like your sounds and mixes are improving a lot, that is really sweet alex and makes me happy!!!!!!! :)))
listen to this urges me to sit at my keyboard and load some oldschool keys patch and it never disappoints in regards to the fun levels that can be reached just by playing along *FUNKEH* stuff exactly like this. this is a requirement in my funk playlist, great work!
Hey Alex, this is a cool rock track. I played bass with a drummer for a short time who played like the drum track you put together. He, like the track, was a solid rock drummer that could always throw a some kind of fill or change making the song so much more interesting. He never overplayed and it always fit the song. I like the drums here, they are interesting all the way through. Snappy snare too!
After hearing the intro I wasn't sure where the song would be heading. The theremin was a cool choice, not every day you hear that in a song. Real ones are reasonably priced actually. ha All the guitars and synths you used blend real well, plenty of space in the song but boy, there are a lot of things happening.
Well done to you and megapaul on the guitars, not sure who did what where but all of them were placed to mix well. You can do so much in the rock category, to me one of the most versatile genres. Always a pleasure Alex!
Firstly I am happy you liked the drumming. It's from EZ of course and it is some fine funk performance with lots of cool ghost/dead notes.
I think it fits perfectly Megapauls style which is extremly funky, here is the list of loops I used:
Some of them are played much faster though (the actual tempo is 110bpm). All the rest is me playing Roland synth.
I listened to all (over 200) Megapaul's loops and am so impressed of the quality of his guitar work.
For sure I will try do more in a rock area as I only used only a few of his loops here (which I downloaded earlier). I do not play guitars of course so I will always need someone to make them for me if the genre is anywhere close to rock. I guess this one is still more a funk-rock or simply fusion.
Thank you again for some nice words. Always appreciated!
Thanks a lot Dan for checking this one out and your nice comments! - some of the new equipment seems to really work for me now as I spent on this only 2,5h. It's relatively a short track but I must say I can work much easier now.
Love the Intro a lot, very trippy. Then it settles into a real fine groove. Nice Guitar work to really fill out the sound on this. Love the keys all through this. Overall solid track for sure. Nice work..
Thanks a lot! I must say I am not really into a proper rock genre too much, more into older fusion and some modern chillout haha... but indeed Megapaul's fine guitars really make this track!
Thank you for some good words. It's appreciated.
Alex
This super extremely cool! Your keys are spectacular as always, and megapaul's guitar work sounds great in this setting. The drum and bass work is some really nice funky fusion stuff that I can totally groove to! This one is a bit more structured when compared to some of your work, and I enjoy that (being a math nerd and all). I love how with many of your song, I think how it would be great with a talented vocalist, and then half a minute later I'm not missing vocals at all, and can think of it as an excellent instrumental. The instruments do kind of sing in this, so it's a winner. Great jam! Fave!
I am happy you had a chance to listen to this as it might be one of my better works so far, who knows... haha. Definitely more a very proper funky-rock (fusion?) this time haha...
Firstly it's probably because of the use of new equipment - Roland Juno Di for electric piano, electric piano bass, clavinet, background Teremin- like sounds... I was finally able to play some guitar as well as Roland has some very good 'crunchy' and different 'overdriven' guitar sounds. Of course I can't play it that good as Megapaul - it will always sound very artificial from the keys but anyway I tried to create very corresponding guitar 'soundscape' to the one from his loop http://www.looperman.com/loops/detail/80272/pills-and-potatos-85bpm-a-by-megapaul-free-85bpm-weird-electric-guitar-loop (which is introduced at the beginning of this track) as possible. So I play the guitar in here (from around 1:16) haha. And yes, I think I will gradually be able to create much better structured compositions in opposite to my usual synth jams haha. As for the math matters I must say that I am now becoming aware of this as well (3+3+2, 3+2+3, 2+3+3 is 8, it was my rhythmic concept for the bassline haha - with some variations, as well as playing in major tenths).
It's much easier to write the pieces now, I do not need to struggle so much with midi latency and other plugin issues. It feels more natural - it's a real instrument anyway....
Again many thanks for nice words and adding this one to your favourites!
Glad I could provide some enjoyable moments for you.

Description : This is my newest creation, at a stage very near to completion. No third-party mastering or mixing, as with all my tracks. Just have to fix a few tiny things. I FINALLY WAS ABLE TO MIX EVERYTHING IN THE SAME SESSION. This song has all human-played instruments - no quantization or MIDI! My brother does all the vocals except for the interlude part, which I do. My other brother plays the rhythm guitar (a Gibson Les Paul Custom - only one of 12 in the world!!) and I play the accompanying guitar (a Johnny Mar Jag and PRS). He has a lot of guitars :P A good friend of ours, Ronnie, plays the bass and another friend, Freddie, plays the drums. The drum track was done in one take (had to use an electric drum set due to time constraints - but acoustic kits are so much better). Overall, pretty satisfied with the result. Let me know your thoughts.

Description : The first track I sing on. Cheap stage mic & no fancy plugins. Heavily guitar laden to the point it's got a bit of a shoegaze thing going on. I pulled the lyrics out of my ass & yes, they're a bit silly.
Description : BIG UPDATE 26/02/2014 - So, this was an 18 min track that I have now successfully split in two. 2nd half I uploaded a few weeks ago (Things That Should Always Be, with the bouncy 2 min reggae intro). This is the first half, which has a new mix, a mega chill, meditative ending and a little jazz thrown in for good measure. Takes a few minutes for beat to really kick in. Constantly evolving electric guitar, bass guitar, acoustic drums and lead banjo driven by fat, busy 80BPM grooves with a bit of a reggae and shuffle feel. Also: synth choir voices, dulcimer, violin, cello, shimmering pads. Builds up gradually to nice and rocking and then gets taken back down for the big comedown chill. I really don't know what sort of genre this is except 'far out'. I think it sounds more like a live band than one guy playing instruments and manipulating a DAW. Not my best track but a bit of blissful, sunny island fun. Real positive vibe here so I hope you give it a chance to unfold and unfurl. Sit back, clear your schedule and immerse yourself in these trippy sonic experiments cooked up deep in my off-planet underground laboratory. I have to send the MP3 to Earth via space courier (not cheap).

Megapaul's guitars are truly great indeed!
