Description : When I first started playing drums, I saved my nickels and dimes and bought every Sandy Nelson album that came out. This track has some passages that reminds me of his playing and style, so I just took it from there. Midiman James help out with some guitar tracks...Thanks James! Hope you like, and feel free to download if you do.

Wow sounds good.

I must admit this tune wasn't really my style of guitar playing but I hope everyone enjoys it.

I had to look up who Sandy Nelson was, pardon my ignorance but after listening you are correct sir. The drums do indeed have a similar style and are also very cool. I dig songs played using lots of toms. I love good old straight up blues based rock and roll. I want to sit in and jam, ha!

Ever hear of Hoyt Curtin? One thing he was known for doing was tv cartoon themes like Jonny Quest in the 60's. The drums totally rock in his music, you may like his music, figured I would suggest checking him out. Been listening to him a lot lately.

Not sure how ya got Ian Anderson to play some flute but that was a neat choice of instruments. ;) Was it live or a sample? Cool horns, guitar, keys and of course the drums were exceptional. The composition was as great as the execution on the production/playing.

Well done Scott and company!

Hey Wayne,

Thanks for your most pleasant comment. I sure wish we could jam together. Although I do love making music digitally with my friends, I do miss live playing.

Sandy was a big inspiration for me. Not a great drummer, but he played allot of drums in his music, which, as a kid, I really liked. I looked for anything with drum solos. Hell, I literally wore out In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida

I checked out Hoyt Curtin and, although I've heard his music for years, I never knew who he was. Really good stuff BTW.

Yeah, Ian and I are pretty tight, so he helps out on occasion. These were samples, unfortunately.

Cheers,
Scott

hi Scott,

indeed the toms from 0:36 reminded pretty much 'Let there be drums' https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zC9okWm8A6o (I did a little YT search:) It's an old styled special kind of rock - very bluesy, not something I am listening very often...

Nice flute action and Rhodes coming in at 3:34.

My favourite part is 3:25 - 4:00. It definitely reminds early 70's improvised funky jazz in the manner of https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5bIk1Wl21Yk

Nice one!

Best greetings, Alex

Hey Alex,

Thanks allot for your comment and the links. I checked them out and have heard 'Let there be drum' many times. His drumming was simple enough, that as a kid, I could play his beats, so it was a good learning exercise. I'm surprised there wasn't more of his stuff on YT. He did many albums.

I hadn't heard that particular Weather Report track, but am quite familiar with them. If memory serves, you do some styles similar to them.

Cheers,
Scott

Super cool!

What an innovative genre is 'rock'...look at yours, Alex's (Promenade) or my track...they all uploaded under rock...:-)

Feeling, groovy, technicality, percussivness (is there an English word like this?)

Bravo Scott, this is outstanding!!!

Description : This is my newest creation, at a stage very near to completion. No third-party mastering or mixing, as with all my tracks. Just have to fix a few tiny things. I FINALLY WAS ABLE TO MIX EVERYTHING IN THE SAME SESSION. This song has all human-played instruments - no quantization or MIDI! My brother does all the vocals except for the interlude part, which I do. My other brother plays the rhythm guitar (a Gibson Les Paul Custom - only one of 12 in the world!!) and I play the accompanying guitar (a Johnny Mar Jag and PRS). He has a lot of guitars :P A good friend of ours, Ronnie, plays the bass and another friend, Freddie, plays the drums. The drum track was done in one take (had to use an electric drum set due to time constraints - but acoustic kits are so much better). Overall, pretty satisfied with the result. Let me know your thoughts.

Description : The first track I sing on. Cheap stage mic & no fancy plugins. Heavily guitar laden to the point it's got a bit of a shoegaze thing going on. I pulled the lyrics out of my ass & yes, they're a bit silly.

Description : BIG UPDATE 26/02/2014 - So, this was an 18 min track that I have now successfully split in two. 2nd half I uploaded a few weeks ago (Things That Should Always Be, with the bouncy 2 min reggae intro). This is the first half, which has a new mix, a mega chill, meditative ending and a little jazz thrown in for good measure. Takes a few minutes for beat to really kick in. Constantly evolving electric guitar, bass guitar, acoustic drums and lead banjo driven by fat, busy 80BPM grooves with a bit of a reggae and shuffle feel. Also: synth choir voices, dulcimer, violin, cello, shimmering pads. Builds up gradually to nice and rocking and then gets taken back down for the big comedown chill. I really don't know what sort of genre this is except 'far out'. I think it sounds more like a live band than one guy playing instruments and manipulating a DAW. Not my best track but a bit of blissful, sunny island fun. Real positive vibe here so I hope you give it a chance to unfold and unfurl. Sit back, clear your schedule and immerse yourself in these trippy sonic experiments cooked up deep in my off-planet underground laboratory. I have to send the MP3 to Earth via space courier (not cheap).

Description : This track was like the inhale after an exhale of aggressive industrial-electro-sludge tracks that I had put out that summer and fall. This was the more reserved, and introspective winter track. It's nothing spectacular, but I still really enjoy it. I hope you do too. Take care. V.
