Reminds me to one of my favourite rock/electro/ambient group, Stabbing Westward...amazing work, one of your best...frezing and dangerous but beautiful and deep...
Very smooth track here with really interesting instrumentations. I'd def consider it Electronic. The vocals are very mysterious and on point. Billy, assuming it's who I think it is, has never failed with his vocal style on anything he's on. You two together made a very good track. I would bring out the vocals a bit more, however that's just my preference. Cheers!
Can you send me the vocal with the music? Two stems: 1 vocal track without effects, and 1 instrumental track. I could try explaining to you the basics but every song is unique. I can try my hand at mixing the vocal and making it at the forefront and then explain what I did to make it so, should you like the sound I achieve. :)
Cool intro. The vocals sound quite modern. I'm not sure what your intention was for the vocal - if you intended it to blend, then you mixed it in absolutely perfect. The words are almost covered up by the music but still add a really nice, crisp element that the track needs. As Tumbleweed said, I think a little more moving on the bassline would help spice up this piece, though the song is pretty darn catchy as it stands. Kudos to you and your friend for this one, this is definitely a solid track.
No didnt really intend it to blend, how do i get the vocals more prominent in the track? I know you work with vocals alot so your probably the dude to ask hahaha so any suggestions? dont work with vocals a whole lot kinda suck at it. I just use my knowledge of mixing synths and stuff and it doesnt really translate to working with vocals i dont think.
Like the intro X....Kudos to Billy..really dig the vocal. It is a minimal mix...I usually like that approach as it lets each instrument and part sit clearly in place....yet it is really quite hard-hitting. The brick wall limiting which I avoid seems to fit well in getting the big driving sound on the drums...I thought maybe a more prominent bass line (that moves around a bit)would kick it up a notch...enjoyed it...big well done to you & billy....Ed
BIG kudos, this track was DOA until i sent it to him. He sent this awesome vocal and i just ran with it haha
"It is a minimal mix"
Yup, i spent more time adding detail to a few synths and some weird sound design than going for loads of varied synths and sounds. Dont know if that was the right choice but seems to compliment the vocals well when it hits... i think.. haha
"The brick wall limiting"
To be honest i think thats more down to me not being particularly good at mastering, limiting, compression and stuff i can never get a good sounding mix without a somewhat brick wall going on.
"more prominent bass line"
Again.. more down to me not being very good at bass lol i tend to shy away from any big bassy sounds because they end up just sounding really bad
This production is almost perfect. The only thing I'd suggest is adding an electric guitar to play some type of melody to rid the beat of that empty feeling it has right now. If possible, maybe bring the vocals out a little cause they fit well with the beat. You should really get some more vocals on here cause this could be a hit. Also, for genre you should put under psychedelic cause it fits that way better than electronic.

If you don't mind leave some feedback on my tracks. It would be greatly appreciated.
hello :), yeah your right about the guitar i had the same idea but i just have no way of getting a guitar into my track so had to shelve that idea.
More vocals? we'll see.. maybe.
What do you mean by "bring the vocals out a little?" volume wise? or do you mean flesh it out and add more vocals?
Hmm yeah psychedelic seems to fit ill do that now! :)
thanks dude

Description : Feel free to check out the video on YT as well (Alan McLaren Project - Upside Down) of this 6min journey from electronic to rock with some psychedelic moments...
This is my latest, but also one of my earliest tracks.... any feedback is more than welcome, thanks :)
Description : This is a strictly groove track where the elements of ambient meets electronic funk and Hip Hop. I play all instruments on the track excluding guitar solo which was performed by my friend Art Miller.
Description : A demo of one of my current projects. The chorus vocal sounds like "Aaaaraashe" to me. The song is in C# minor with a nod to C# pythagorean on the chorus. The beat on the verse was inspired by the Peter Gabriel song Intruder.
Description : This is one of my earliest productions that I did at the start of my recording career. I did not have a keyboard at the time I made this song, so I improvised and used my sister's iPad and a 5 dollar GarageBand application instead, and plugged the headset jack into into my PT6 rig and did my best to turn each individual track (which were mono and there were about 25 tracks or so) into a stereo image. Then recorded vocals over it. My computer was so old and slow that I had to mix my music and then BOUNCE it to a new session - four times. My computer (which had 512 MB RAM and an 80 GB hard drive) couldn't handle more than 8 tracks at a time or it'd stop working because the processor couldn't handle it. Took me FOREVER to do. But I got it done. Had a lot of fun doing it too, even if it isn't my "best" work. I'm still happy with it, considering I didn't have many tools to choose from at the time.
Description : Long time lurker first time poster, pretty new to production n stuff, this is my first track in Ableton Live.
was going for a darkwave/synthwave sound, reminiscent of Justice, Carpenter Brut, Perturbator, ect.
Looking for some feed back, constructive criticisms or even just your thoughts if you liked it or not. This is just a rough cut on this current WIP, just the bones of it if you will.. If you have some cool title suggestions, would love to hear those too.
Thanks for listening.

Description : Far out mid-tempo fat beat deep chillout grooves with Eastern/Arabic and slightly menacing vibes, huge delayed synth bass and a great palette of psychedelic layered and intricate sounds (mostly synths) and a stirring, epic feel. Even has guitar solo section reminiscent of some 80s power rock which is then followed by a brief synth harp solo. I began making it straight after staying round the flat of the flute player from the legendary Ozric Tentacles - easily the greatest ever space rock band. I made this in about 2001 and still think it might be my best track (and it's nice and short, for a change). My production skills were much weaker in those days (no EQ, compression or mastering used here) but, somehow, this one turned out pretty much just right. Feel free to disagree. Now sit back and get ready to trip extremely far out. If you manage to return, let me know how that trip was...
Description : Got some spare time finally...just started on some random ideas basically (lets say kygo meets alan walker). A blend of dubstep, edm, downbeat, tropical etc.
It's still a work in progress, so i would appreciate your honest inputs. Thanks to all those whose loops I have used in here, sorry I don't have time to search them out.
Edit-added some more filthy sounds from my previous tracks and gave it some ending. Advice will be helpful.
Hts off, Danke
