Description : Darkness is the first song off of the Dark Limbo album. Dark Limbo is a small horror cartoon I'm working on, which tells the story of a girl who got into an accident and is now living in a world in between ours and the after life. A world which is known as Dark Limbo. If you have any criticism for me, be sure to leave it down below. Thanks for tuning in!

Awesome track Modnex, I love the suspense and dark vibes you got going here. The melody is very classic Horror movie sounding and that combined with the sound effects really pumps up the anxiety and fear factor, which are very important elements of a good horror soundtrack.

Thank you Neo! I'm happy you felt that through this one. I sometimes find it difficult to express certain emotions through music, the fact you felt the anxiety and fear through this, makes me know I did something right.

Thanks for stopping by, have a great day!

Thanks Robbie! I know that feeling. I love hearing the rain, it makes the mood so much enjoyable, which is why I chose to incorporate it into the track, worked out pretty well.

Thanks mindhiest! I wanted to hear different people take on the theme, as this project is still a work in progress, so the more ideas the better :)!

So far I haven't been disappointed, really love the entries we got so far! That includes yours, love the direction in which you brought it to :D!

nice dude, i could feel the despair and hopelessness.
dark limbo is a good way to describe that place, i feel ive been there through my many years of mental illness, its definately a soundtrack for a place like that. awesome dude :)

Thanks eggsOntoast! You're not alone on that note. I think most people visit that dark place sometimes. In a weird way that dark place is a getaway for most, allowing us to escape from our reality to a place buried deep in the subconscious as a way to find piece. It may be a dreadful place but sometimes it's better than facing the reality around us. I'm happy you enjoyed this. Thanks for taking the time to comment.

Stay safe,

Incredibly suspenseful! Very good use of various minor and diminished chords, and the rain/wind effects adds alot. I would love to check out the finished product of your cartoon!

Thanks my friend! Minor chords work great for the dark creepy vibe. Which is why I rarely use them. Most of my songs are happy so I tend to stick around the major area, specifically c major.

I like the groove you get going by :45 secs in. Very tense. Nice use of thunderstorm and rain effects. Really creating that suspenseful mood. Nice work.

Modnex replied 27th Oct 2016 - 8 years ago
Thanks midisparks! I thought the thunderstorm might add to the overall atmosphere of the track, perhaps making the track more intense. I'm happy I was right on that note.

Thanks for always showing support,
always appreciated take care!

I love the darkness, as a matter of fact i'm laying in my crypt listening to your track...and i have to say i absolutely love this song. If Dark Limbo is as good as this song then i'm a fan already. The atmosphere in this track is deep and dark, have i mentioned that i love dark? Now i must excuse myself, you've inspired me to make another dark DnB to add to my collection.....keep it up man, i'll be looking forward to the rest of the tracks that you put with this one....hopefully just as spooky, like me lol.
(Rest in) Peace

Thanks for the great comment, Mike. I'm happy this track was able to have such an affect on you. Its always a great feeling to know that your music was able to inspire others. It makes making music that much better. Most of the songs on the Dark Limbo soundtrack will be in the spooky field, so I don't think you'll be disappointed there.

Thanks for stopping by!
Have a great day!

scary and dangerous one as you wrote in the description...for me the mix is a bit 'narrow' though...

Thanks for the comment Danke! I agree the mixing needs some work. I have to admit, when it comes to music, mixing and mastering is probably one of my weaknesses. Definitely something I'll try to work on!

Thanks for the support,
Take care!

Description : Ok...here it is! Another colab with maestro Tumbleweed! Ed provided the unfinished, basic track...I composed and recorded the long intro using different synths and then added piano (well to the fore) and some brass arrangements along the rest of the track (no violin this time...hehe) and then did the final mixing to wrap it up as it is presented now. I hope you will enjoy it and we both appreciate your listening time and your valuable comments:) Otherwise all thanks to Ed!

Description : Dark, slow, ambient, cinematic jazz with funereal piano turning into something much funkier, psychedelic and beautiful in the second half. Out of the darkness and into the light, you could say. Instruments: electric guitar + bass, lots of synth sounds, including a horn, double bass, another big legato bass, pizzicato strings, two types of piano, a heavily delayed slide guitar instrument, zither, synth arp, one brushy drum loop, kettle drum rolls and 4 programmed acoustic drum kits. This is quite a special track for me and is only the second I've put in the cinematic genre. The more you listen, the more it changes (it even has key changes) and the last three minutes are really quite far out and should probably be longer. Best track I've made for a few months. Interesting thoughts and reflections appreciated. Free sex for the best reviews...

Description : So a new track for everyone. Im pretty impressed by this one, and would even place it higher than one of my best tracks, Angel And A Demon. However, I'm trying to decide whether or not I should put vocals to it. I have some in mjnd, but idk if itd be better to leave as is and keep it instrumental or not. Take a listen and let me know! Also, let me know if anything is too loud, still working on my mastering.

Description : 4!_(07@2nd) harmonic protocol reboot sequence

This track is an elaboration of dgalantic’s track “Starting Over 0172257.” It is almost entirely comprised of loops by other artists on looperman. The newsreel in the intro section is from public domain footage of the Vietnam War. Prince Fatty chimes later in with some words of wisdom. The track was sequenced with Mixtikl and edited in Audacity.

Loops from the following artists are included:
1. ThatJeffCarter’s guitar “feedback 197765”
2. three of Nightingale’s harmonica trills: “angels 0088377, inner light 0088361 and never and never 0088366”
3. Heavily fx’ed vocal excerpts from Eshar’s “7th Dimension 0002644”
4. Dcmack’s rhythm loops “2 bass drums 1- 0085449, 2- 0085446, and 4- 0085448.”
5. Steelyvibe’s choral wash “luno frunezo 0005719”
6. Nightingale’s guitar loop “diving deep 0043488”
7. Rasputin1963’s chorals “ soul ladies gospel riff 0088641 and reggae soul girls choir 0087693”
