Description : An almost completed mix. Feedback is most appreciated.
Recorded from my MPC1000, two separate stereo outs (drums on one, instruments on the other). Various hardware synths used to create each sound -- all sounds resampled.
Former looperman uploader StarTropix fed me the drumbreak via his Alesis SR18 into my MPC. I then chopped it up.
Youtube what the structure of breakbeats are. Learn to use a sampler or a software VST with sample capability -- it's really pretty easy when it comes down to it. Start practicing making 2 bar loops that sound like a beakbeat, record it to an audio track, and chop up the audio track for your sampler.
Most samplers/VST's have a "repeat" function that you can make those drum rolls with. If you can map the velocity of a sample to your attack, then you can have sort of ghost hits. I'm sure I'm not explaining it properly, haha. hit me up on soundcloud if you need help. www.soundcloud.com/circa_tree
Oh man, listening to this song while seeing those names who have commented already, it's like a spiritual feeling! This is the loopercrew, I guess.
This is one of the most hardcore (not genre but realism) things I've heard on the loop in quite a while. I love the noise floor, I love the tempo, I love the performance! After more than 5700 comments on here, I can honestly say that I've rarely heard a song like this posted to loooperman. Digging it, and listening again now!
Your songs go into the past, as if they didn't happen, in a similar way to a substance. I suppose that I could refer to them as substantial. This is meant completely as a compliment!
Possibly, if I had not become so obsessive, I would have been able to create things like this. It's never too late, and that is inspiration calling. Thank you for that.
Amazing tune! Another fave! I hope I find this if it is ever available for download.
"Substantial" -- that's a cool perspective to hear. I appreciate the time you take to really listen to the music and give a solid and unique point of view. Thank you :)
Would love to have a chat on facebook sometime soon, hit me up.
I agree with Ed about the eq differences between the instruments, seem to make them stand out and pop in the mix. Could hear this with an action vid like skateboarding or surfing or some kind of extreme sport.
I don't listen to much drum and bass except for here but this seems to me to be a little more laid back and less aggressive than most dnb songs I hear. I like it because it is different, maybe more "pop" sounding or "mainstream", not to be taken in a negative way but more towards where a folk/rock guy like myself can appreciate more than the hardcore dnb fans would... if that makes any sense, lol.
Good to see old faces around, so few left it seems.
Thanks Wayne. I appreciate that you hear the meticulous EQ-ing, haha. Also glad that you think this is an accessible piece of music, I really try to harness pop sensibility without sacrificing artistic integrity.
Its creative stuff...I can`t claim to have been a DnB fan but I have listened to some mainly for some of the innovative synth sounds (mainly pads) that seem to come with the genre...Nice fat subby bass in this one that contrasts well with the higher synth stuff...Upbeat kind of vibe and couldn`t we all use more of that....nicely done...Ed
Thanks Ed! It's validating to hear you speak about contrast between the low and high ends, I've been focusing on that in my mixes recently.
I've only very recently been exposed to drum and bass (started listening to guys like Aphex Twin and Squarepusher 6-7 years ago), so maybe that shows through in how I create tracks that fit into the genre. Interesting observation :)
Sounds like drum and bass from an innocent, if that makes sense, no feeling of hatred or discontent, something rare in the genre. That's not a negative impression mind, it has a chirpy/happiness to it.
Soft. Unusual.
Not sure what I think of it.

Description : Chaos....Chaos ensues when life is unfolding in many different ways all around you. A demand here, a demand there, do this, do that, things going wonky or all happening at the same time. It's overwhelm but it's excitement, it's crazy but it's also very real. Description : About five years ago I made a dubstep track called Labyrinth Of The Absurd. This is part 2. Check out part 1 if you haven't yet. This is a Dark D-n-B. Or whatever.
I used Serum, Massive, Sylenth1. I used no presets, and no prefabricated loops. This is all original content from scratch. The only exception being the vocal samples.
Description : Ambient breaking into dnb I guess. All loops (except for 1 synth by my 7 yo daughter) so I can’t take much credit for this. Free demo loops from Loopmasters and LM loops from:

Description : 170 BPM drum 'n' cell epic. That's drum 'n' bass with lots of my layered, lead cello playing. It's both banging and chilled out, with intricate basslines and soaring, melodic cello parts. Instruments: electric cello, piano, three synth basses, two synth pads. Drums are loads of drum loops supported by a few programmed acoustic drum kits. It's fast and powerful stuff but there are also two deep grooving half tempo sections. No guitar so anything that sounds like it might be is, unsurprisingly, cello. This was fairly hard to make and required a lot of hard work. It's still far from perfect, especially the rather abrupt, unimaginative ending (I couldn't think of anything better). Have a good listen and then consider leaving me some fascinating feedback. Not much drum 'n' cell about so I like to think this is worth checking out...

Description : So ive been listening to alot of dnb lately, and i decided to try my hand at it. It turned out to be alittle more chillout than I wanted it to be, but I still like how it turned out.
A ambient type of DnB track, one to make you think, Second attempt at the DnB genre for this year, again apologise to Drum and Bass artist, guessing again not your normal DnB.Used flute Rhodes Piano, and a few other bits to hopefully get the feeling for the piece I wanted, along with a few break beats/bass lines and FX etc...
Please comment/review and the favour will be returned...
