I love the bells at the beginning. I can see an elf looking at it's reflection in the water. Very tranquil and peaceful. Thank you for sharing. I'd suggest a little fade out at the end so it doesn't end so abruptly. Thank you for sharing.
Hey ReignStorms, I'm happy people are still enjoying this old track after all this time. I appreciate the feedback and tips. Thanks for stopping by, stay safe and have a great day!
This was a pleasant listen. The piano was a bit harsh at some parts but overall it had a very fantasy-like atmosphere, very appropriate for a video game!
Sorry... I'm still laughing about the Tangerine Dream/Legend comment, both the comment (which I tend to agree with), and your reply (in that you had not heard of either the group or the film). Seems like an essential item for an electronic musician, though I am getting old, so don't mind me.
Either way, it is a nicely composed song, with a very cinema/game feel to it. Not my favorite sort of music of course, but within those confines you have done very well.
I am curious about the process. Did you play the instruments in with MIDI controllers, or was it all mouse based? The main reason I ask is that the velocity of the composition seemed somewhat static. It could also be due to the low peak level of the render, which makes the dynamics less apparent. With these sort of instruments, I tend to expect a lot of variation between loud an soft notes. It adds realism, and can give a tension which might be missing.
None of that is meant to make you question your work, but is simply to help me verify what my ears are hearing.
I did enjoy the song, and I think a great film could come together with tracks made like this!
Hey Spiv, thanks for the honest feedback! Yeah, it's quite unfortunate I never heard of the tangerine dream soundtrack, but then again I'm not one who watches television that often. I'm happy it was brought up though, as now I can check it out.
When I create music I tend to use different methods to create each song. The midi piano I use is kind of small. With that in mind, sometimes I need a bigger work-space to have more flexibility in the creation of my compositions. That's when I get on my real piano and start coming up with melodies. Sometimes like with this song, after I create the melodies on the real piano I transfer them by hand to the DAW instead of recording it with the midi. I'm not sure why I do it, but this is probably the reason why things sound more static and less realistic.
This is great! I love this. i think you definitely achieved a cinematic feel here, i can just picture this playing in the background of a movie already.
Keep up the good work Modnex :)
A very pleasant listen here at work. It's is smooth, soft, delicate, gentle to the ears. I can imagine a playful scene on stage, or perhaps a cool video or game. Good work! :-)
Thanks Robbie! I just listened to the track you compared this too and I hear the similarities. Both of the tracks most definitely fit in the same category, that's for sure.
Really music for a movie.
This fits a camcorder ride. Has something slightly creepy. As if a creepy secret would be hidden somewhere .....
ok the end is no high light but in a real movie the camcorder ride would be over before that point :)
I really enjoyed the listen on this very good, sounding and made, track
Hey Joe, thanks for the kind comments. I can picture a camcorder scene with this track. nice spot there. You are right about the end. I could have done more to make it more exciting, but decided to drop it early. Might try to fix it later, not sure.
Hey beerling, thanks for the kind comments! You are more than welcomed to give it a go. Send me a link if you do, would love to see the finished outcome.
Hey Srob, thanks for the kind words. I'm happy you felt that way. I always admired video games with beautiful soundtracks, it only makes me happy when some one compares my music to it.
Great track, easy to get lost in. The simplicity is what makes it so beautiful and immersive at the same time. Something in the low frequencyspectrum can add some extra depth in this piece, and I think a few percussive hits can give it some energy. But I really love it as it is now, those are just things I would try out.
Keep it up, I've noticed you do a wide range of genres and I like that, inspiring :)
Hey SharpNotes, I agree with you, sometimes simplicity is what a track needs to give it that extra push. Not all tracks need to be super complex to make it good.
The tip on adding to the low frequency is actually a really good one. Not exactly sure what I would add to give it a boost, but will definitely experiment with things. Will also try out your percussion tip too.
Good motif with simple bell or harp sounds! I love that. I felt you payed much effort to harmonize counter melody which balance main theme in line and harmony. Some one in looperman may use this tune as intro or part of the melody, I think. Very good one! Hope to see next tune.
Thank you Masanori! I love harp music in general which is probably why I always tend to try to have those type of sounds in my own pieces. I did pay a little more attention to the counter melody in this one than normally and happy it worked.
Thanks for all of the kind comments,
Have a great day!
I feel like i'm in a new place but i cant feel relaxed or safe! like theres something urgent i have to do in the fairy forest. :) I like this alot! easy to get lost in!
Hey Alexancder, that's very cool this track made you feel that way. I also pictured something very similar to a forest scene. It's always great to see how differently people interpret the same sound. That always sparked a bit of interest within me.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts,
have a wonderful day!
Hey Danke, thanks for the feedback! I agree this one does end a little abruptly. I didn't even hear that before, happy you pointed it out. I'll fix it and will replace the audio.
Hello LankFrampard, thanks for checking out the track. I normally try to make the track longer but sometimes its just too difficult to make it longer an keep everything interesting. Hopefully the loop will start working correctly for you again.
Great job. If you know who Tangerine Dream are then you will know this sounds a lot like there work from the movie Legend. I love the oboe work on this one.
Bravo
Cru
Thanks Steve! I've never heard of Tangerine Dream but I will definitely give their music a listen. I love to listen to this type of music from other people. The title of that movie makes me insinuate that its probably some sort of war based or old 1800/1700's based movie. I think will try to watch that too.
Finding some great tracks on here tonight, and this is one of them.
Beautiful sounds and composition which really took me on a journey, although it was a little short-lived. I'll just have to listen a few times instead!
Hey mildperil, thanks for the kind feedback. I'm happy this was able to take you away from here. I love when music can just help your explore and take you to another universe.
So, I am a big fan of fantasy and games. This is something I would have playing during my D&D game night. Well done. To paint you a picture of what I see. I see a green field filled with white asters and trees swinging in the wind. This is a very good song, but it ended so abrubtly! Damn shame. What did you use for the metallophone at 0:03 - 0:07. If it is a plugin, I would love to know what it is called. Great track overall, love the vibe!
Hey Allochtune, thanks for the kind words. I also love fantasy video games so it makes me very happy that you visualized that and made that comparison. This track mainly used the Kontakt player for the sounds and the melodies were made with my piano and transferred into the studio.
I got what you said about the ahh's already in your track, so instead I added some pads to take the edge off. Let me know what you think. It's here: https://www.looperman.com/tracks/detail/186997
Thanks bro! It's always nice to see you here. I'm happy to still be producing, for a moment I thought I wouldn't be able to produce anymore but luckily that has changed.
Great atmosphere you created, drew me in immediately. For someone who likes short, to the point musical ideas, I kinda wished this one was longer. World music feel, cinematic for sure and sets the mind on a journey, although a shorter one than I wanted.
Hey Wayne, thanks for the positive feedback. This one is rather short due to the loss of ideas. I did not know what else I could do to add to this so I decided to leave it where it was. Hopefully in the near future I will able to add to this one in a way that doesn't ruin it but expands it.
I love the magical sound as well. The plinks sound a little harsh. Might also want to add some ambient ahhhhh vocals or some thing too soften it. Is it ok if I remix to play around with adding vocals and stuff?
Hey Neuromancer, thanks for the checking in. Not sure how well it could be hear, but I did add very light ahh vocals in there. It was a synthesizer so it's not as great as human vocals would be. You can most certainly remix this. I would love to see what you come up with.
Hey Silverman, thanks for stopping by. I agree with you this one can be taken in a lot of different directions if I choose to add more to it. I decided to keep this one very simple and for what I was going for, I'm pretty happy with the result.
I'm happy you enjoyed this one,
have a great day!

Description : Ok...here it is! Another colab with maestro Tumbleweed! Ed provided the unfinished, basic track...I composed and recorded the long intro using different synths and then added piano (well to the fore) and some brass arrangements along the rest of the track (no violin this time...hehe) and then did the final mixing to wrap it up as it is presented now. I hope you will enjoy it and we both appreciate your listening time and your valuable comments:) Otherwise all thanks to Ed!

Description : Dark, slow, ambient, cinematic jazz with funereal piano turning into something much funkier, psychedelic and beautiful in the second half. Out of the darkness and into the light, you could say. Instruments: electric guitar + bass, lots of synth sounds, including a horn, double bass, another big legato bass, pizzicato strings, two types of piano, a heavily delayed slide guitar instrument, zither, synth arp, one brushy drum loop, kettle drum rolls and 4 programmed acoustic drum kits. This is quite a special track for me and is only the second I've put in the cinematic genre. The more you listen, the more it changes (it even has key changes) and the last three minutes are really quite far out and should probably be longer. Best track I've made for a few months. Interesting thoughts and reflections appreciated. Free sex for the best reviews...
Description : So a new track for everyone. Im pretty impressed by this one, and would even place it higher than one of my best tracks, Angel And A Demon. However, I'm trying to decide whether or not I should put vocals to it. I have some in mjnd, but idk if itd be better to leave as is and keep it instrumental or not. Take a listen and let me know! Also, let me know if anything is too loud, still working on my mastering.
This track is an elaboration of dgalantic’s track “Starting Over 0172257.” It is almost entirely comprised of loops by other artists on looperman. The newsreel in the intro section is from public domain footage of the Vietnam War. Prince Fatty chimes later in with some words of wisdom. The track was sequenced with Mixtikl and edited in Audacity.
Loops from the following artists are included:
1. ThatJeffCarter’s guitar “feedback 197765”
2. three of Nightingale’s harmonica trills: “angels 0088377, inner light 0088361 and never and never 0088366”
3. Heavily fx’ed vocal excerpts from Eshar’s “7th Dimension 0002644”
4. Dcmack’s rhythm loops “2 bass drums 1- 0085449, 2- 0085446, and 4- 0085448.”
5. Steelyvibe’s choral wash “luno frunezo 0005719”
6. Nightingale’s guitar loop “diving deep 0043488”
7. Rasputin1963’s chorals “ soul ladies gospel riff 0088641 and reggae soul girls choir 0087693”
