Thanks, Brother. I checked out the video, I am honored that you used my track. Very cool indeed. Feel free to use any of my other tracks. Always nice to get exposure.
I thought the vocals were fine because they were unique, I find heavier tracks to always be more difficult to mix and master all around the board, they always sound fine to me though I grew up listening to some pretty heavy stuff that sounded like someone recorded it live with a talkboy lol I will just pretend i am going for that bootleg sound.
Heavier tracks are tougher because you need the Drums to stand out and it is easy to wash them out with all the heavy guitars. Plus generally, you need those drums to be way busier than other genres. It is a tough balancing act from a mixing standpoint. I still suck at the drums part big time in most tracks. I am too lazy to have them spread out over 16 or more tracks where you can tweak individual drums on the kit. I always just use a stereo approach. It is way easier but lacking in punch.
I am a huge metal fan, I like your track, it sounded great, all the volumes and everything seemed good to me, as someone else said it was different but in a good enjoyable way. I try to do metal songs occasionally, I have one really crazy metal song rough copy done, I would like to know what other fellow metalheads think of it when I post it, I could let you know when it goes up if you would be interested.
Thanks for the feedback. I would definitely give it a listen. The hardest thing for me with Metal Tracks is getting the right vocal sound. I can't really do the low growly type vocals as it is not in my range. I use a plug in to lower the vocals to a lower octave. I was trying for a Wayne Static type vocal but just couldn't get it. I settled with this.
Okay! I know you said rough sketch, It's a solid idea for a song. Of course the drums need to be way louder. Guitars too, depending on what you're trying to do with it. It was really wierd, but in a cool way. Raw as heck, and ready for some molding. Good job!
Description : I asked Danke if I could add some vocals to his track Future Machine and he kindly agreed and sent me the track. The lyrics are about a soldiers experience in war as he and his trench mates are told to get up and out of their trench and attack the enemy across open fields. I can only imagine the fear, tension and chaos that goes through one's mind at that moment.
Description : I discovered Meshuggah around 2003 and was blown away by the power, complexity and super Heavy sound of their music. Their "Nothing" album marked the switch to 8 string guitars and pushed Heavy Metal into a whole new territory. My track is a variant cover of their song "Nebulous". I have stayed pretty close to the original but added a few dynamic elements of my own. Its loud, its super heavy and way out there...Beyond Nebulous.
Description : This unconventional metal track is dedicated to Valvedriver https://www.looperman.com/users/profile/841435 though it's not a parody of his fine music or me actively trying to sound like it. I struggled for months with the first few minutes of this track knowing that I must be able to take it somewhere deeper, more psychedelic and powerful. Then I loaded some sampled choir voice instruments, as used in my track Reckful https://www.looperman.com/tracks/detail/160356 and suddenly found myself happily in Valveland - not a place I visit often. Feeling amply Valvedriven and newly inspired, I added the last few minutes fairly easily and very quickly. So: it's a twisting, turning mixture of grunge, menacing ambient, mystical metal and ultra-heavy funk. Instruments: electric guitar+bass, synth basses, female choir voices, one synth pad, some other synths on the nastier side of things and a few programmed heavy acoustic drumkits playing a mixture of triplets and straighter grooves. Interesting thoughts appreciated. Favourite bits? Shit bits? Please listen on good headphones/speakers as there's a lot of heavy bass in this. Now get ready to rock: balls out, hands in the air and with rebellious joy in your heart. Just try not to headbang the hell out of your laptop. Go!
Description : Needs lots of work, but a solid start. More lyrics need to be written. Everything is Synth except the Dark lead vocal. Yes, the Chorus vocal is Sampletank 4. Drums: AD 2 Sampletank 4 and guitars are Shreddage. I don't know, is the transition too weird? Metal to trippy psychedelic? Update 9-2-19: Added a Sub Bass and brought the guitars up in the mix. Also deleted a Vocal section to make room for a future Guitar Solo.
Description : Whats up guys?! Been a while I know. Iv'e moved around a lot but have finally settled down and have been hard at work with my metal band. Unfortunately I've had to put my solo work on hold for a bit while I'm recording with the band.
