Found this on the "Rave for the Golden Age" thread, and I'm glad I did! That bass work is amazing, as are the guitars! The atmospheric samples are really cool too! This is some really creative stuff! Very psychedelic! Awesome work!
Lol,... The animal noises are different but it fits. What is that? A rabid mutant squirrel or something? Crazy track. Sorta all over the place but it seems to work. Im a way it reminds me of Primus. Being a bass player im sure you know how Primus is or at least Les Claypool. If not check them out.
Crazy change up! Just hit the change up mark. (reveiwing as I listen) I really like the change up. Very "Jam Band" -ish. You ripping the guitar in there?
Hey Conan..that's a Kookaburra, one of our native birds..it's actually the biggest member of the 'Kingfisher' family ..their insane characters,if two different groups square off..nobody can hear anything else for miles,I've seen them eating snakes!amongst other things...Yeah that's me on guitars..I always play all my own instruments (apart from collabs obviously)..I'll be doing some more guitar orientated tracks soon...yeah Les is a cool mover,I don't mind Primus at all, they seemed to have gone right off the radar these days..but then everyone does I suppose...cheers mate
Nice track, down at chill out but with the true hint of rock, kookabarra(spelling?) doing the vocals :)very enjoyable listening man, track seems to take you on a journey, for me being an Aussie, takes me too a place like the bungle bungles etc, great work mate...fav'd...Peace...Estefano...
Absolutely fantastic stuff, reminds me of Ozric Tentacles, with all it's fusion of Reggae, Psychadelia and Electronica. Excellent playing, excellent production, excellent track.
Dear Planet, Just to let you know that I play this track on my ipod more than any other by any other artist. I looked at my play count and it is top. It is the business in my opinion! Rgds C69
Hey mate..that's very cool to hear that..(sorry for the late reply)...it's always interesting to imagine what people are doing listening to music when it;s streaming on an ipod..walking down the street, shopping etc just chilling somewhere on the globe..I'm very flattered that you like it...thanks a heap that makes me feel good!..cheers :)
(sorry for the late reply)..thank you very much!..I love atmospherics..I grew up with cars that had no airconditioning..so once I recorded a whole thunderstorm and used to play it in my car's tape deck on really hot days..didn't cool me down but it sounded way cool!..cheers man :)
Hi Planet, I had heard that your stuff was cool and needed checking out. Well here I am and yes I love your stuff. Just my thing. Down loaded this track for my Ipod. Rockin'
man, u and i(hint Miles)must collab eventually..I'm looking at your profile and i'm seeing alot of similar influences, especially the jazz stuff guy...a new fave for me for sure, if Miles could come back(not that he's ever left the building for me!) he would love this man...an amazing recording!!
ps i went to Berklee with Victor Bailey, Baron Browne, Stu Hamm, Steve Vai, Kevin Eubanks and a host of others..
thanks for sharing your art with me..
Hey Vic..thanks man..that's so cool you know those guys..sounds like we grew up listening to the same stuff! way to go..I find it quite sad that kids these days haven't even heard of players like Miles and your spot on..he never left the building he's still there if people would only look..cheers mate :)
Went fishing for loa and pulled up Damballa himself! Yeah man, ride that long snake! I love how you've fused the beginning with an ambient sensibility and then gave it all up to electrical spirit fire as expressed by the guitar. Faved.
As someone else stated, this is more an experience than a song - and that is all good...haha since I think of music in a visual sense, images... this is a full jungle oddessey, Very cool structure to this madness, and gets even more magical once the guitar starts singin'. I can't decide if this would be great for a very trippy animated jungle trip or an awesome acid trip montage during the Vietnam war...haha -hmmm both good. This track is layered with goodness- Very cool Planet... very cool. peace.
Thanks man...I like the acid trip montage clip ..that would be cool..there's always a nasty little war going on somewhere..I wonder if they need a sound track?..cheers mate :)
Very good stuff, My cousin introduced me 2 after many spliffs Miles Davis Whether Report Chic Korea Jacob Pastorius and all that jazz, your music is amazing peace2009jazzfestivals
It almost sounds like you were clandestinely approaching a weird space voodoo ritual in the deepest brushes of an unmapped jungle. Then around 2:40ish, you unsheathed your guitar and showed the space voodoo natives a different voodoo ritual.
I mean this in no bad way when I say this doesn't hit me so much a song as it is an experience with sounds. Thanks for sharing.
You should rename this "I Got a Black Magic Kooka" (lol).....pity so many people hadn't heard ne before....mind you they are not the best things to listen to at 5am if you have had a big night out!.....great bass and guitar sounds.....fusion art!
This piece is wack! Crazy blend of sounds that don't go together, yet somehow you managed. I wouldn't classify it as chill out though...wierd? fusion-ish?
Nice work!
pretty wild man...
i think the monkeys had some voodoo
lol man this had all the voodoo that you doo
my head still hasn't come back to reality yet
actually i seem to have misplaced that reality thing around here some where
Hehe..Mickey Dolenz was 'Circus Boy" before he got into drumming..I remember watching that show..then he turned up in the Monkeys...truth is always weirder than fiction...thanks man cheers :)
This F!*?!! madness, like Robert Fripp meets Frank Zappa on the planet Gork and just go insane, man your from that planet and I want to visit often. Great track.
Bloody Jazztastic!!!! This floats my boat on all levels. 1. It's totally original 2. The mix and production is awesome 3. The playing is breath taking 4. Your a genius 5. all of those points again and again.... Man! I wish we lived closer! Just imagine the band we could have....
Hey Steve..thanks for the rap man..haha I'm no G man that's for sure...It would be fantastic if we lived closer together.
I can think of a fantastic line up with some other Loopers included..move over Pink Floyd! cheers buddy :)
I thought that the several captain and cokes were enough and the twice backed potato was good enough and the fillet Mignon was the ticket! but no ! I have to be meat inebriated and have a listen to a track like this "OH MY GOD!" you SIR have taken me to a higher plane and I thank you for that this will be a fav sir and I will not have a recollection that i have done so but that is fine sooner or later i will figure it out! "You do the voodoo"
Johnny G.
Another interesting number all the elements fit nicely the break at 2:13 caught me by surprise (Peaceful) butwoke me up at 2:35 nice guitar. Loved the bass and drums in this one also Ain't found no Voodoo but I'll keep looking!!
Fila
Trippy, you took that idea for the intro form my track deceptions didnt you? Give it a different feeling for a bit, but then turn it into this awesome psychedelic work. I love the sampling, must have taken forever!
Haha..I don't think so..seeing as I uploaded this track on the 18th of Jan 09 ..and yours was on the 4th of Feb 09..lol..thanks for the kind review anyway Curtis...If I switch to Trance...I'll come over to your place and rip off all your ideas..lol cheers mate :)
Hi Planet
well this track certainly keeps you zoned in to it there is so much going on.
Listening to it has gave me some ideas and i luv it when tracks do that for me.
Excellent track Planet.
Regards
Krook
wow, sweet track my friend, did you find the voodoo, the jam is great! never really heard anything like this and i think thats what makes this site great! Mag-Nito
ah, on second listen thats a bird call not laughter hey? the feelings of lunacy i was gettin off this one have been replaced with a deeper sense of some deep jungle voodoo.
you definitely found and worked that voodoo planet, and you worked it right.
always a big fan of your bass licks, never fail to impress. and that cackling laughter was a very nice touch, added some very effective lunacy to the track, just the right amout.
ah... and some very emotional fretwork dropped on me after that eerie refrain. im definitely downloading this.
This is like an instant classic. Loved every minute of it! You are quite an experienced guy eh?
Great work! How long would you say it took to make this?
Thank you for the kind review..Hmmm....how long?good question...I put it together over about 3 days....but the actual hours spent would probably be in the vicinity of 8-12 hours..glad you like it :)
Haha..thanks pappa..well I did grow up watching the twilight zone...but I think it's got more to do with latent superstitions..who knows..lol..cheers mate ;)
Oh, thaaat voodoo. I borrowed it (my friends needed to be punished). I'll return it soon though, don't you worry...
Anyway that was wicked, love that kooka that you added. You know one morning I actually saw about 5 or 6 kookas squashed together in our neighbour's TV antenna, all laughing at once. They created such a racket, but I can understand why those buggers where laughing.
But we're getting out of topic. The guits here were awesome, they sound almost wailing, chanting. As Acrylic said: Intense. This is really good Dave!
About Voodoo, but I do know where you can find some Doo-doo. On UltraBase's collab with DolaWhite on UB's track, Ultra Doo Doo mix. Sorry, that was cheesy and crappy (pun optional), but it is a pretty cool & amusing track ya might dig.
As for this one, I'm surprized that ya didn't use any out-there vocal samples that you do so well and cool. I dunno why that occured to me, probably because the lead Guitar licks on this are in some ways like one of your other, older tracks on here (Tenn Hut I'm thinkin, but not 100 percent on that... Or was it the one where ya used a sample of Marlon Brando's, hmm, I dunno).
Starting over, the drum intro to this is totally Gonzo man. Flippin crazy and I loved it. Ok, I stand infected, err, I mean corrected, ya did use those Monkey (?) calls on this. Which takes me to tha jungle. Oooh, and I gotta massively thank you now, because I just remembered a movie I saw on VHS that I needta get on DVD (or just try to sample directly from the tape) this perfect tribal sample, yes! The stormy effects ya added also really add to the illusion of being in a jungle, during monsoon season. Lates!
Hehe Donnie...cool..That's a Kookaburra sample (a native bird and the biggest member of the Kingfisher species in the world)..hey funny you mentioned Dola and Ultra..I've heard that tune..it's great..thanks for your time to listen mate..and for your wonderful reviews cheers Dave :)
Hey, cool song here. I was thinking maybe this was something like my 'Voodoo Swamp Blues' tune I did last year...but this is totally different. I like the growling bass sound.
The lead guitar afterwards is really nice sounding. This is a very nice song..I like it a lot. Good use of imagination here.
Hey Randy thanks for the kind review..hehe yeah I do my own guitar...it's a work in progress though...and I think I'd sell a body part to be able to play pedal steel!..cheers mate :)
Description : Sounds of the sea and trippy acidy washes with a cool beat and some live acoustic guitar. Written in Cubase with live guitar and keys etc. The sound of the sea and birds was recorded on the beach where I used to live. After moving to the city one sunny day I was telling stories to a friend about living by the sea and started making this track.
Description : This improv recorded a few years ago powered my interest even further than I expected.....recorded using tc electronics pedal and tascam studio recorder and a Fender Squier tele electric....
Description : I used some new "Anthem" pickups from L.R. Baggs on my Martin acoustic to see how it performed, and it definitely beat my expectations. Captured the sound perfectly as I needed.
Anyhoo, this song is almost a prayer, hence the repetitiveness of the verses. As Christians, we believe that God will one day return and take away every suffering and all evil for good; in that regard, this song is almost one of waiting too. Very simple, with vocal harmonies and whatnot. Hope you enjoy this as much as I did making it. Made in 13 hours.
Someone else wrote the words, I was just inspired to use them. I only added the "Yeah" and "Amen."
Description : This is a track off of one of my EP's I dropped last year. It is based on True events. Sometimes when people finally take a second in life to slow down and breathe in..... The oxygen is deflated and it's too late. Take your time people, because time is what differs a good decision over a bad one. Life is precious!

Description : So a guy buys a nice guitar at a pawn shop but returns it a few days later after waking from a sound sleep to hear it playing by itself. When he tells of his experience he is shocked to learn the owner had actually died while playing it. Is it fantasy or truth? Is the guitar in this track that very same guitar? Its all part of the mystery and fun of Halloween !
EDIT: modified ending to a deeper voice
Description : This track describes a magical state that I experienced a long time ago. Maybe you also know the feeling that you can't describe something like this with words ... luckily we have the music for it!
Description : So this is my first Chill Outish track. I was just trying something new and then suddenly this was a thing. Everything you hear is home made. I hope you enjoy. - Mr. Spook'd
Description : That's something i worked out lately
a swing 3/4 hip hop Chill ?? Don't know how to describe this kind of music.
Anyway VOICE NEEDED

Description : A progressive journey incorporating deep ambient chillout, swing jazz, hip hop, d'n'b, trance and a slight touch of acid with a thousand ninjas battling in space. Features a great deal of my lead slide resonator guitar playing. Also a whole load of synths, programmed acoustic drum kits and manipulated drum loops, big basslines, regular electric guitar, vocoded guitar parts and bass guitar (distorted right at the end). If you like deep chill, far out soaring beauty, fat beats and 170 BPM uplifting slide trance controlled mayhem, you might just get into this. In my heaven there is an endless supply of honey mangoes (an exquisite beauty of the fruit world) and even more slide guitar. A 1,000-year-long version of this track plays there on a loop (long enough not to get bored of it) but here I offer you the Earthly 11 min version. You must be very good to be accepted into my heaven to hear the full thousand year version so best start now. It may be heaven's main theme tune but it's not above criticism so feel free to let me know what you think of it. Maybe you prefer the soundtrack in hell. I hear it's pretty badass...
Description : This is a pretty chill track with a certain vibe. I really enjoyed making it.
Hope you guys enjoy it and let me know what you think, any feedback is appreciated.

gotta love the meandering but steady bass lines throughout the piece. it's like zappa and miles davis got together in the amazon.
bass lays a nice foundation for the rest of the song and totally locked in with the drums.
ps i went to Berklee with Victor Bailey, Baron Browne, Stu Hamm, Steve Vai, Kevin Eubanks and a host of others..
thanks for sharing your art with me..
victormusic01x..in the nyC..voodoo chillin'...
