Description : This track is another attempt to combine retro with modern - and that in a dance sort of style. I hope I got somewhere near it!

Oh man this has a great feel to it. Diggin the voice and backing, the guitar and bass have a cool vibe with the wah, full key sounds very thick track really cool, dig this a lot!
First of all, thank you, John, for your kind words. I'm always very happy when someone takes the trouble to go down into my junk room to discover something. Yes, this track was and is one of my favorites... and since I now work with Logic Pro, have gained more experience in mixing and mastering, and have constantly improved my singing skills, your kind comment gives me the opportunity to dig it out again and give it a new polish. You will see this one in the featured tracks in a few weeks.
Cheers,
Micky
ya know what? you simply are the best producer on Looperman for sure by a country mile, I'm absolutely serious, and it's totally up to you but if I was you and I was producing these types of tracks I'd get them out there more like CD BABY etc and Bandzoogle I think is another one where you can have your own website and promote yourself etc, and I don't say this at all lightly, you're bloody fantastic, you have a great talent, your music is a pleasure to listen to, I'm glad I decided to drop by and listen to your tracks
if I had some sort of label myself you'd be on it or a part of it
Wow - now your comments are sooo flattering. Thank You, thank you.
First of all I have great fun producing these tracks and it's kind of self rewarding. On the other hand of course I would really love to see more folks listening ...
The problem is that I've got nothig but Garage Band on my iMac – this track "Imagination" was mixed before I've bought me some izotope mixing/mastering tools, but even now the sound quality I can get is very limited compared to the standards the professionals have. Or in other words my problem is of monetary nature.
And then I have no idea how to "promote" my tracks on say Soundcloud or Bandcamp other than buying followers or likes, because that's something I wouldn't do. So you see I'm stuck there somehow ...
But thanks a lot for checking my whole catalogue here and giving me these super encouraging comments.
Help!!! Yeah, of course – I absolutely agree. Sorry for the confusion, but that's why we love music, right? It's the better language ....
Greetings to France and au revoir!
Thanks for listening, but since english is not my native language I am not sure what you wanted to say. Do I know only two types of music? I would doubt it ...
I am sure I got you wrong due to the language ...
Michael
Gotta say you are very talented, the fact you created this in Garageband shows how underrated the software is. I hear alot of retro dance elements and it works very well. Great job here!
Dunno a thing about retro or modern, but this took me back to the 70s. I was only 3 one of those years haha, but it was fun times when people were more fly and free. There is a fresh breath of air here! :-)
Thank You, Patricia,
fresh breath of air - that is what I had in mind when I did this tune. You know, driving down a beautiful beach road in a convertible with the stereo on, looking at happy people surfing, skating, biking, working out. Quite innocent, but that's me. Innocent me.
Thank you for your highly appreciated comment,
stay safe,
Michael
This track has such a chilled vibe to it, a wonderful! sound here indeed, such a groovey! sound that helps you drift/float...Very easy on the ears. Keep up the GREAT! Work Micheal...Niceee!
Thank you so much.
I'll take the opportunity to tell you how much I love the always so deep and emotional songs of yours here. It's wonderful to find such heartfelt music in this place, so: Keep up the great work, too!!!
Michael
Haha, I won't go as far as selling it, but borrowing - why not. Thank you for listening.
Since you comment in two languages, I feel flattered twice as much ... ;o)
Saludos,
Michael
Yes, it's true - everything I do is in garageband because it's all that I can afford at the moment. But I think garageband is underrated.
Thanks for listening!
Hello Drklinger,
All I can say is; das ist wundervoll!
In my humble opinion, the arrangement, composition and sound are all top shelf.
This track could be released as-is.
While I am not qualified to address the track on an engineering level.
I can unapologetic say as a listener that this track is great.
Stay in your groove.
PEACE
Jynxz
Thank you once more my friend for those schöne Worte!!!
So good to know that there are many others as passionate about making music as I am.
Besides, here's a little secret: I hope that Fuzzy Haskins, who really is one of my heros ("space people - universal lovers...") will never find out, that I sometimes steal parts of his lyrics. And if you ever get to meet him, please don't tell him.
Cheers,
Michael
Very nice this song with a vintage flavor. Rich and sumptuous arrangement as usual. I like how you are able to recreate atmospheres of the past making them very current. My 23-year-old daughter Teresa has also become a fan of yours. Best wishes
Hey there Stereonomicon, thanks for the comment. You are right - I try to make my tracks sumptuous and transport some feelings of the past, but at the same time that is my weak point: these procuctions then have to be treated with very good knowledge of the technical side. And since I can't afford any commercial equipment, I have to try and do it with what I have. And that is just Garage Band with some plugins on my iMac. I know that you can come up with good results even with that kind of equipment, but that's what makes it quite difficult.
So I am very happy, that you and Teresa like it ;o)
Have a nice day and stay safe,
Michael
Hey there. The answer to your question would be that I would have a question for you. Did you use a compressor / limiter on the whole track as a mastering tool? Myself, I like to keep the track volume low like 6-9db below the threshold, before I use Izotope Ozone 9 to finish it. I find I can get more dynamics that way, and the hi hats don´t seem so squashed . I come from the less is more theory of EQ as opposed to boosting sections. Even then I sometimes in a dance tune use Leftover Lasagna´s Push-tec, which is an awesome EQ tool for bass sounds, and La Petite Excite, to add some dimension to the high or low end. I hope this helps you.
Steven
I think there is my problem already: I use the maximum volume in the mix already (just up before red) because I want to have it pretty loud. Next time I will start at a much lower level from the beginning. You know, in my exitement for some good new track I still tend to get very sloppy but I have to learn that it is important to watch the technical things as well.
Thank you!
Michael
Nice NU Disco Tune. Nice harp arps. Vocals and Bass sound really good. The mids and percussion sound just a slight bit over-compressed. Good Stereo Field. And it´s a pretty good song in its own right. So good job.
Cru
Thank you for the comment. I understand that I should lower the percussions a little, but would you fix that over-compression of mids in the master? I am thankful for any advice ...!
I don't know if it is the fault of the English translation, but they seem to me to be a bit strong terms ... I just gave you my honest opinion as possible, giving you some advice, as well as telling you that the song was basically well built and that its technical defects did not affect its validity.
In any case, I must say that now it sounds much better, absolutely, compared to the track so flat that you had initially presented, here there is a greater effort regarding equalizations, stereo fields, compressions and dynamics.
As it is, it is also more enjoyable from the auditory point of view, because it keeps the listener's attention alive.
I just wanted to tell you that you could very well not delete the original track, but simply re-upload it after working on it.
I never said that you had to delete it, nor that it was a bad idea.
I am the type of person who does not put the trivial comment just to show that he commented and then put his song on the top of the list.
Hey HenryPascal,
I am sorry you got me so wrong here - I was absolutely thankful for the detailed review you gave me, because that was the wakeup call I needed. Thank you so much again!!! I think this is what makes LOOPERMAN so great: you get response, encouragement and criticism so you can learn.
Sorry, my words in the description were meant absolutely funny - a bit of sarcasm on myself. I will remove it, if you feel offended.
I am very glad about your new comment here, because, you know, with this track I had a very hard struggle and was very close to giving up recording at all. But maybe you know this case: for some reason you don't want to skip an idea and try to get it through however. Your review gave me the push I needed and I got myself togetherand got a bit deeper into the technical side.
And: I know about the option to leave a track in the profile and just upload a new mix, but once I realized the poor mix I wanted to take it off as quick as possible ;o)
Thank you very much,
Cheers,
Michael

If you liked Imagination by Micky you might also like these other Dance tracks.
Description : I have been using LooperMan for practice for some time now. This my most recent track. The only loop in the song is BabyGee's vocals. Free to download and if you repost tag me so I can share it as well.
Description : A psychedelic techno cello epic. It's not really techno as it's only 110 BPM but something like that (eg breakbeat), with lots of banging beats and arpeggiated acid synths, plus a whole load of my layered cello playing techniques. There aren't that many synths used but they do a lot of work and are carefully automated. No guitar. Drums are mostly a lot of drum loops, supported by a few programmed acoustic drumkits. Very busy and complicated with loads of different sections (funky, chilled, fast, heavy) that make up a constantly progressing trip. I don't know if there's any other cello music like this so let me know if you think there is. Interesting feedback appreciated - criticism, praise, ideas etc. Enjoy...
Description : Summer type dance track, for those precious 2 weeks off, if you can get them! Made around a selection of different loops and some keys from me.
Description : Inspired by an experimental percussion piece I heard. Rhythmic ticking builds into pounding beats and heavy soundscapes. I haven't done any mixing or mastering yet so tell me what you think. Any and all comments are welcome.
Description : When I wake up in the morning there's already some rhythm goin on in my head. Sometimes with strange time signatures. I guess it's stupid, but simple 4/4 is still my favourite. On the one.
Description : A song about a damaged soul. Sadly, based on a true story. Gorgeous loops here are by Hardstyle Rythm, Aboe, and Princess Hollywood. All basslines by that fiendish genius Rasputin. Take a bow, gentlemen
Description : Pretty basic dance track. Was experimenting with the Falcon synth plugin, hence the name. Instrumentation for the melody lines might be a bit unusual, more orchestral. Vocoder is from the Icarus synth plugin, a great new instrument.
Description : Hello everyone here's a song from my album anymore that really is near and dear to my heart I hope you guys and enjoy it and never let anyone bring you down or tell you that you are good enough!
