Far Out Man OOOOWOOOSH!! Something I've always noticed yet don't believe I've said with enough prose is that there is always certain parts in your tracks that make my head and ears feel so warm like an angelic orchestra... A Lullaby that puts Cherubs to sleep. Very soothing and a true jazzy undertone to this experimental rock here Michael.
hello AJ! that is just such a cool to thing to say there, pal. it’s crazy to be among creators like yerself and believe me i’d never put anything remotely like this together if i didn’t have you to play for. this one really did come together as a treat, i had a great time curating it. much love, my brother!
the fantastic intro was like from Blade Runner! Tony Williams and Jaco dropping by ... If you had told me about it before I would have said no way this won't work. But it does! A wonderfully entertaining journey.
Wow as out there as this is, you can hear the underlying threads that keep this together. But just a wow my friend. 5:48 that sustained note fading was my fav part as it leads into something unique and well dynamically mastered. A Masterpiece of psychedelic sounds. 7:17 made me feel like I just woke up in an Onsen. And that chiptune ending was just taking the piss on all our minds ehh! brilliant!
thank you, Steven! it begs a lot of indulgence, and i’m really grateful for the listen. i wanted to experiment with longer sound sources and spent a lot of very pleasurable time ‘curating’ these sounds. my spirit guides on this were that bastard out of scotland who i’m mad at for being a genius and john oswald’s mix of the dead playing darkstar (talk about indulgence).
cheers, man!
I like the title, just watched the Revenant movie with DeCaprio the other day. Crazy movie with all sorts of low and high points in it, some dreamlike scenes, some flashback scenes, some emotional and some shockingly honest.
I could possibly use that same description on this track. Some introspective parts and some mind tripping parts as well.
thank ye, Wayne! i read the book, highly recommended— i ain’t caught the whole flick yet, but i know there are some crucial differences that make for thought-provoking contrasts. hadn’t been thinking on that when the title came upon me, but yep, i’m adopting that. many thanks!
damn i really dig where you're coming from with your music, seems to be from outer space cos there's not much I can think of as a reference point. love the random, freeform and experimental nature of this. also good to see i'm not the only one who's like a kid in a candy shop with mucking around with reversed guitars. keep going my friend, only explorers really get lost.
ha, there’s somethin about reverses, it’s like breathing. outer space certainly factors in, too. and the flouride in the water [cue General Ripper]. cheers, Chris!
thank you for the nice comments! haha, once upon a time i intended to chop hell outta that drumtrack but i just couldn’t. it’s a sin to post anything this fucken long. but i’m a born sinner. cheers!
listened to this earlier this afternoon and then had to work so just getting back to have a listen of the features- what a trip - lots of interesting sounds and some really nice musical parts, cool instrument choice and great drums - experimental yes - but we like a few surprises : )
hey there! i truly thank anyone who listens to this track for their generous forbearance! i am really glad that you liked it, in particular— i’m really digging your creations!
hey Maj, you are the best, my man! i mean, the things you do for guinee pigs alone sets you far apart from the maddening crowd! honestly, i am thrilled you liked it — cheers, mate!
Great!! And how subtile you put those sounds together!!
That dark..Bass guitar??it sounds if you have a whole rock or jazz band there in your living room.
So what you do in your secret free time michael?
Working on your secret tracks to come out with that like hell in a good way.
Long track but not boring!!
Well done bro!!!!
hi Rita! haha my free time was tossing and turning while i couldn’t make anything right! this broke my ‘writer's block’ — and i also thought, well here is one everybody will finally hate! but i put it up just to see… and for you to hear. thank you for all of your encouragement my friend!
Quite abstract and cool man. Parts in it are kind of jazzy to me. But it still is amazing. Someone has to have a deep perspective on music like you to pull this one off. Awesome job!

Description : This is my newest creation, at a stage very near to completion. No third-party mastering or mixing, as with all my tracks. Just have to fix a few tiny things. I FINALLY WAS ABLE TO MIX EVERYTHING IN THE SAME SESSION. This song has all human-played instruments - no quantization or MIDI! My brother does all the vocals except for the interlude part, which I do. My other brother plays the rhythm guitar (a Gibson Les Paul Custom - only one of 12 in the world!!) and I play the accompanying guitar (a Johnny Mar Jag and PRS). He has a lot of guitars :P A good friend of ours, Ronnie, plays the bass and another friend, Freddie, plays the drums. The drum track was done in one take (had to use an electric drum set due to time constraints - but acoustic kits are so much better). Overall, pretty satisfied with the result. Let me know your thoughts.
Description : Feel free to check out the lyrics video on YT as well :) This is a new track based on the great vocals by Ashes and Dreams! Again, a mix of electronic/progressive/rock, any feedback is welcome
Description : The first track I sing on. Cheap stage mic & no fancy plugins. Heavily guitar laden to the point it's got a bit of a shoegaze thing going on. I pulled the lyrics out of my ass & yes, they're a bit silly.
Description : BIG UPDATE 26/02/2014 - So, this was an 18 min track that I have now successfully split in two. 2nd half I uploaded a few weeks ago (Things That Should Always Be, with the bouncy 2 min reggae intro). This is the first half, which has a new mix, a mega chill, meditative ending and a little jazz thrown in for good measure. Takes a few minutes for beat to really kick in. Constantly evolving electric guitar, bass guitar, acoustic drums and lead banjo driven by fat, busy 80BPM grooves with a bit of a reggae and shuffle feel. Also: synth choir voices, dulcimer, violin, cello, shimmering pads. Builds up gradually to nice and rocking and then gets taken back down for the big comedown chill. I really don't know what sort of genre this is except 'far out'. I think it sounds more like a live band than one guy playing instruments and manipulating a DAW. Not my best track but a bit of blissful, sunny island fun. Real positive vibe here so I hope you give it a chance to unfold and unfurl. Sit back, clear your schedule and immerse yourself in these trippy sonic experiments cooked up deep in my off-planet underground laboratory. I have to send the MP3 to Earth via space courier (not cheap).
