Description : Ok! I know this is more pop than ska but it's the way the song developed. It does however have a nice off beat rhythm and good time feel, so I'm still classing it as a ska track.. Anyway this is the second track I have finished for this years RPM challenge. Hard rhymes is a song of hope, you know the saying "You have to laugh or else you will cry" ,well that's the idea behind this song..
I have taken a lot of time on this one (just as I did on Ska Skank), so if you feel something needs a tweak please let me know. All instruments and vocals Slap, drums and percussion Sonic foundry...
I hope you enjoy this bouncy little number!

Cheers Slap...

This is plenty ska... really, there are always varying degrees in music with any genre. Bands like Disturbed and Korn get accused of being 'less metal' for incorporating electronic stuff into their music... it's silly. I think we need to have 2 genres... 'good music' and 'crap music' ;)

This was a really good track Steve, I am really really impressed as hell right now at how you've grown musically. Not to say that you weren't great before (because you're one of my fave artists here) but it's always cool to see someone try something new with their music. Are you putting together/selling a cd of this stuff? I'd like to buy one if you are :)

I hadn't noticed your name on the featured list since the last time I saw Ska Skank come up. I like this one more; something in the vocals in the second half of this song resonates better with me, I guess.

I listened a bunch of times, since you asked for tweaks, and I finally found a small, possibly constructive something to bring to the table. I think the horns that come in at ~1:10 could be brought forward a little bit more. It might just be the way my speakers are positioned/balanced, but I sort of lose the lower part of the sax(?) on that part.

As you can tell slap, I must really, really love this track. I can't get the melody out of my head. I forgot to mention the first time around that I loved your guitar & bass work also. drums and percussion is off the hook! Man, just a stellar track slap, peace. D

I say again, what can't you do slap? The track is smokin!! Yeah, it does drift into the pop vain a bit, but it's very nice and your vocals shine on the track. Also the great thing is you can still detect the ska undertones, niccceee! And man do I love your horn arrangements on this track, (I'm a horn junkie to the bone) simply awesome!! Faved no doubt, I haven't forgotten you slap, still working on the track. What I'm trying to do is a old school "jazz fusion" track. (I only hope I can pull this off) I tapped "Bill" to see if he would be interested in laying some guitar and he said he's game. Just need to find a good keyboard player and it's all good. Loved the track slap great job, cheers. D

Hi Lato, I've noticed your back! I haven't listened to any of your stuff in ages, so as soon as I finish this I'm off to get some ear candy..
Thanks for liking what I'm up to. There's loads of stuff on this site that I normally wouldn't listen to if it was on the radio or something, but! I do admire talent and effort and let's not forget the passion everyone shows in Looperworld... Now that I can't ignore, and if anything listening to these styles gives inspiration.

Cheers Slap...

I love this Slap, it's a masterpiece. Everything sounds perfect, I love the Solos at the 2 minute mark. Vox sound great, guitar is fantastic. I really like this one, brilliant work.

Peace,

Hi Helix, I put sometime in on this one, I can tell you. I was a little worried people would think it was a bit to pop rather than Ska, but so far the reviews have been positive. Thank you!

This is a great lively tune! Entertaining from start to finish! I especially liked the sax/flute/sax/flute between 2:00 and 2:30-and the percusson and drums were off the hook!! Vocals and lyrics very well done. I enjoyed this one!! Fila

Description : Sincere apologies for this nonsense. Started out as a home school project with the kids but they refused to sing or write lyrics so had to use bastardised nursery rhymes.
