idk how to even describe this except awesome, and unexpected. I cant say ive heard anything quite like it. U defineitely take great care in your crafting, im a man of similar practice. I can certainly appreciate the level of craft that went into this. I take great pride in my drums, basslines, and percussion, even though im in a diferent genre, but u definitely should, as well. Take a bow, man. bravo.
Do you remember the "Mind's Eye" series of movies? They started somewhere around '90. A bunch of CGI art films set to music. I think there were three or four of them. Anyhow, this sounds like it could have been made for one of the vignettes. it's kind of cinematic, kind of atmospheric. Not a whole lot of that signature, cleverly disguised dark underbelly in this one. You feelin' alright, man? lol
I think it's funny how many people here have commented on the percussion. It's like, "..uhhh, have you never listened to Crucethus before? There's always killer percs, man." I mean, they're not wrong, though.
Fall is my favorite season as well. At least the last half of it. After the days get short and the weather gets cold.
Anyhow brother, I dig it. It does have a good energy to it. I think fun and funky is a perfect description.
Take care, bud.
Aaron
Lol, I do like my percussion, and only because that's what moves a segment or phrase along. And yes, not everyone on the loop knowswho I am, I see a lot of new faces, and that's a good thing, and that just means I have to up my game to impress this young lot coming on board. That's how it should be ehh!, I love learning from people younger than me. Don't be a boomer.! I am Gen-X Show me the new Stuf!!!!
Well, after seeing what you wrote in your reply to my previous post, it reinforces my opinion. I say that with the greatest appreciation! I am also pleased to hear that you listened to your wife. Men should really do that more often. Smile. Best wishes and have a wonderful day, Manuela.
Ahh Manuela, funny story. After listening to my wife and feeling the confidence to put it out to you guys on looperman. A few days later I was playing it in the studio and she walked in and said, ohh is that new? And I am like no, I made that on Saturday...you liked it. Oh did I, yeah it doesn't sound as good as I remember..lol. Yes, I do listen to her, but sometimes I get moments like that as well. I may revisit it over the weekend and fix a few things (like the sudden ending) No perfectionism I swear..lol. All kidding aside I do think it's important to listen to many diverse opinions on the sounds. Good or Bad. as they shape what I do. But at the end of the day. I make the music for my taste. If you all like it too. Bonus!!!
Cullen Skink Yuk lol we actually live about 20 miles from cullen scotland is one of the most beautiful placed in the world with a rich rich history just our neighbours down the road that puts the spoils on that.
Yer a Strange craitur fer a scott ehh? Fit a loon! Yer Poots over Cullen Skink, Whiskey. Yah needs ta tern en yer Tartan lad. K. That's the best I can muddle here. I agree I have seen some astounding videos in the North East. Portknockie and Buckie look beautiful
I would love to visit one day when I have the means and the time.
im not even gonna mention everything good, its already been said, but them percs are sic love the guitar work too, your work is always next level Steven, always a wonderful listen , great soundscape, and the funky vibe is right in the pocket, well done mate
Thanks Mate. When I first made this, thought it was trash. Played it for my wife, she kind of liked it, the more Iistened It grew on me, so I put it on here. Whats weird sometimes is when you make something that you think is awesome and great and no one likes it, and when you make something you think is awful, people respond positively. Life is funny sometimes ehh! Art is subjective. Take Care.
The great intro, the phenomenal bass and drum lines have already been widely praised. But the percussion section and the guitar work are also excellently executed. I dont even need to mention the perfect mixing and mastering. Ive noticed for a while now that you are a perfectionist. Its a wonderful musical journey through rock and funk culture that I was able to experience with my ears. Theres only one word for it: Fantastic! Although, personally, the ending seems a bit abrupt to me. (You know me, Im a bit of an ending fanatic lol)
So first off I am anything but a perfectionist lol. I made this song in less than an hour to just not lose my mixing mojo. I just bought a cheap German touch screen and added it to the studio PC. I Put on it Acid Pro's Mixing console and now I have a full-fledged mixing board I can operate the faders on the screen with my fingers. Game changer. Where I excel is in preparation before the execution. I have a library of sounds , textures and percussion. I went into this wanting to make a chill 100bpm song, started with a weird ambient sound that melded into soft funk. The secret sauce is the percussion. To keep you from being bored I mix up the percussion to add a new element after so many measures. I have also learned the right timing to elevate and bring down the mix's arrangement. The right timing for a crash cymbal,, where to add a synth percussion or a real hi hat. My fav artist is Bryan Ferry (Roxy Music) He is a master along with Brian Eno of subtly adding sounds.
great sounding layers and soundscape. i love your intro and how you handled that distortion with a well balanced filter action. transition like butter with those Kraftwerk pluck sounds. those rhythm guitar parts sound creamy dreamy, what did you use on those parts. later you dropped some stuttered delayed guitars, catchy af and decision well made, those are great inspiration. you were always good in mixing but holy cow you get better, its juicy in the eq and clear with all your layers and well compressed. love from a banana
Thank You Thank You Thank you, you have great ears for a Banana mate! I love adding diversity into music. You have described it really well. I look at Sheffield bands like Rolo Tomassi, and see how they seemingly move between Dissonant, Cookie Monster voice, and then clean vocals and a pop sound. I try to bring that genre-busting inclusion to my music. Otherwise, I get bores. Thanks so much
As a few others have already mentioned those percussions and bass line are so good lol. I love the funk aspect you got going on in this and I love the mood change from the intro to middle sections and outro!
Fantastic intro. The percussion is awesome in this. I love the layers and density of it towards the end. Second positive vibration track I've listened to this morning, the first being cyberflares one. It's good to hear happy music!
Aye Mate! Strangely I made an Uplifting tune, and so did you. Been Watching a YouTuber from Aberdeen (Steve Marsh) saw some awesome footage of Inverness, Faroes, Shetland and Orkneys, and some delicious Cullen Skink in Cullen. I really appreciate North Eastern Scottish culture. You have some awesome music and some Luv'lie tasty food.
very cool groovy you got here Steve ... around 1.05 that bass funk is outstanding and those guitars later ... hell knows King Crimson's feeling flashed tilm listening this track ...
hats off,
Danke
Ahh Crimson. I heard Daryll Hall and Robert Frip do Babs an Babs in a live take recently, what a treat. Robert Fripp is amazing ehh! https://youtu.be/6PAHYXc3gcw?t=227
Description : Sounds of the sea and trippy acidy washes with a cool beat and some live acoustic guitar. Written in Cubase with live guitar and keys etc. The sound of the sea and birds was recorded on the beach where I used to live. After moving to the city one sunny day I was telling stories to a friend about living by the sea and started making this track.
Description : This improv recorded a few years ago powered my interest even further than I expected.....recorded using tc electronics pedal and tascam studio recorder and a Fender Squier tele electric....
Description : I used some new "Anthem" pickups from L.R. Baggs on my Martin acoustic to see how it performed, and it definitely beat my expectations. Captured the sound perfectly as I needed.
Anyhoo, this song is almost a prayer, hence the repetitiveness of the verses. As Christians, we believe that God will one day return and take away every suffering and all evil for good; in that regard, this song is almost one of waiting too. Very simple, with vocal harmonies and whatnot. Hope you enjoy this as much as I did making it. Made in 13 hours.
Someone else wrote the words, I was just inspired to use them. I only added the "Yeah" and "Amen."
Description : This is a track off of one of my EP's I dropped last year. It is based on True events. Sometimes when people finally take a second in life to slow down and breathe in..... The oxygen is deflated and it's too late. Take your time people, because time is what differs a good decision over a bad one. Life is precious!

Description : So a guy buys a nice guitar at a pawn shop but returns it a few days later after waking from a sound sleep to hear it playing by itself. When he tells of his experience he is shocked to learn the owner had actually died while playing it. Is it fantasy or truth? Is the guitar in this track that very same guitar? Its all part of the mystery and fun of Halloween !
EDIT: modified ending to a deeper voice
Description : This track describes a magical state that I experienced a long time ago. Maybe you also know the feeling that you can't describe something like this with words ... luckily we have the music for it!
Description : So this is my first Chill Outish track. I was just trying something new and then suddenly this was a thing. Everything you hear is home made. I hope you enjoy. - Mr. Spook'd
Description : That's something i worked out lately

Description : A progressive journey incorporating deep ambient chillout, swing jazz, hip hop, d'n'b, trance and a slight touch of acid with a thousand ninjas battling in space. Features a great deal of my lead slide resonator guitar playing. Also a whole load of synths, programmed acoustic drum kits and manipulated drum loops, big basslines, regular electric guitar, vocoded guitar parts and bass guitar (distorted right at the end). If you like deep chill, far out soaring beauty, fat beats and 170 BPM uplifting slide trance controlled mayhem, you might just get into this. In my heaven there is an endless supply of honey mangoes (an exquisite beauty of the fruit world) and even more slide guitar. A 1,000-year-long version of this track plays there on a loop (long enough not to get bored of it) but here I offer you the Earthly 11 min version. You must be very good to be accepted into my heaven to hear the full thousand year version so best start now. It may be heaven's main theme tune but it's not above criticism so feel free to let me know what you think of it. Maybe you prefer the soundtrack in hell. I hear it's pretty badass...

Description : 'Nowhere to go'. It could mean many things simultaneously. Is it a feeling of despair or is it devotion, is it both? Have a pleasant listen. I really do not know what's the genre that fits best to this song. I'll ask your opinion on this. The main sequencing was done in zenbeats by Roland.
