Description : Another instrumental heavy metal track that leans more toward progressive with an ethereal twist. This is part 2 of the trilogy that tells the story of our existence. This is about the introduction of humanity and a tracking of our curious nature to understand why we are here. Enjoy. Take care. V.

If you have time take a listen and give ValveDriver some feedback.
I should've known from the waveform image that you were about to blast us to Mars! Almost blew my ears off, man. But this is goodso good. Great work on those instruments. You rock
Yeah, the waveform really is kind of a brick, huh? Either way, I appreciate you taking the time to listen, and leave kind words. Thank you.
Take care.

Hi there ValveD.....when you think of heavy metal music this is like the poster child to the genre....it's a great example of true heavy metal. Im more of a ambient chillout soft acoustic type person but on occasion it helps to listen to other genres just because. If you're inclined to do so......there's something unique in all forms. This track personified heavy metal and is well done.
Glenn, I appreciate you taking the time to listen and comment. Especially since it isn't your genre of choice. I do agree with your thought on listening to genres outside of your normal box. There is always something to be learned and quite possibly incorporated into the genre you do prefer.
Thank you again.
Take care.

That's awesome, my friend. I have been listening to quite a bit of Ride the Lightning by Metallica lately. The Trio of " Ride the Lightning,"" For Whom the Bell Tolls," and "Fade to Black" is the optimal turning point for metal and such a groundbreaking trio of songs on an album that's only 46 minutes. and 8 songs.
You perfectly capture the dark underbelly of this genre. And you know I appreciate that Darkness you evoke. It is always a pleasure to listen to your work.
Thank you, Steve. I appreciate it. That is definitely one thing we've both enjoyed from each other. The dark underbelly of whatever we choose to do musically.
I think the early 80s were a pivotal point for a lot of things. But, as far as metal goes, absolutely. I know at this point, it's almost cliche, but I credit Cliff Burton for a lot of what we have today. It was his influence on James and the boys that brought out the music we got from them. In turn, they as a band influenced so many others. I mean, there were definitely others that had a huge impact. But, yes, Ride The Lightning specifically is an iconic album. Everything up to ...AJFA was, really. After that, the mainstream kind of caught up to their sound, and grunge was coming in hard. They sort of just started blending in to the background at that point. I'll always have a soft spot for them, but I almost never listen to them anymore. Maybe I should dust off the old vinyls and take them for a spin, huh?
Take care,my friend.

This is deep and dark, love it mate, even though I'm not generally a metalhead (though my 13 yr old son has discovered Metallica so I'm getting a lot of that at the moment - but it's good). There was a wind blowing through my head when that section started at 3.26, that was awesome. I'm sure I've heard the name Alan Watts, but don't really know what he was about. I did see this quote though which resonated - "The only way to make sense out of change is to plunge into it, move with it, and join the dance. To have faith is to trust yourself to the water. When you swim you don't grab hold of the water, because if you do you will sink and drown". There's a similar Herman Hesse quote like that too (maybe from Steppenwolf), which I always remembered. Most men will not swim before they are able to. Is that not witty? Naturally, they won't swim! They are born for the solid earth, not for the water. And naturally they wont think. They are made for life, not for thought. Yes, and he who thinks, whats more, he who makes thought his business, he may go far in it, but he has bartered the solid earth for the water all the same, and one day he will drown.
Thank you, sir. I appreciate it.
It's funny, I was 13 when I discovered Metallica. But that was a long, long time ago.
Alan Watts has a lot of very thought-provoking and profound things to say. He's definitely worth checking into if you're into much deeper thinking and philosophy.
"Most men will not swim before they are able to." That is good. It kind of reminds me of "Sleep is for the weak." Of course it is. Why else would you be sleeping, if not just to dream?
Thank you again for stopping by.
Take care.

What the hell? Dude, you been to the crossroads or what? This just fried the last few remaining brain cells I had left! Holy crap! Mastodon, Gojira, Metallica, I could go on. Man, this is drop tuned heavy guitar riffage like I've never heard from you before. I love the rhythm tones and the distortion and overdrive, super heavy. The articulation and expression, chord fingerings, chugs, palm mutes, pinch harmonics, whew! Progressive metal, stoner, sludge, alternative its a great mix. I think you've just set a new bar for yourself brother. I can't wait to see where it goes from here !!!
Eric, thanks for stopping by to listen to this, man. Your opinion is an important one. So, I appreciate that you took time to for this, and I'm glad you liked it.
" I think you've just set a new bar for yourself brother. I can't wait to see where it goes from here !!! "
Yeah, I'm kind of curious about that too! I have a WIP folder that I should probably dig around in for any old starts that need a revisiting.
Thanks again, brother. I really do appreciate it.
The intro reminds me on ok forget that its just kicked in Im loving the vibe gd sounding guitar solo work is impressive the chilled out bit with the vox is cool then coming bk into the depths of darkness great track man enjoyed my listen
You have incredible talent there. I am listening and figuring out the influences here - I'm hearing Black Sabbath, Linkin Park, Alien Ant Farm and a splash, just a splash of Velvet Underground (with the melodic pieces). The opening is something quite special. Gunfight at the OK Corral - has a real Western feel about it. So many interwoven sections of light and shade - this is Art, at its very best. Loved it. Kay0s
Kay0s, thank you for listening and commenting. You started out on the right path with Black Sabbath. But Linkin Park, Alien And Farm and Velvet Underground are a miss. I like Lou Reed a little, but not enough to call my self a fan. The other two, not a fan at all. Now, if you had said, Sabbath, Pink Floyd, Ministry, and UFOMammut, you would have been straight on.
I appreciate you taking the time, and I'm glad you enjoyed it.
Take care.

Very tasty intro there, Mr. V. Could have gone anywhere from there and it went to an unexpectedly awesome place. Wasnt expecting all the guitars from you. Thought for sure the synths would come in and dominate after the intro. Nope, instead channeling the great Dirty B. Hinds and pretty well. You and I both know 2:20 is Mastodon-istic as all get-out. The kick assault leading up is pretty badass. Bridge section is really well done with the vocal samples. 4:54 we get the title which I was not expecting and was neat to discover without it being previously disclosed in the description. Final heavy section and the outro are very fitting, leaving this with zero things to critique. You've improved since I last listened to your stuff.
Solid "Nice Track Bro!", bro. Heavier and more guitar driven and badass than I was expecting. I expected badass, just not so guitary and was pleasantly surprised by it.
(condensed for space limit):
Mr. E.
"Thought for sure the synths would come in"
Metal is what I know best. The synth driven stuff was a pacifier until I figured out the metal. I still dick with synths, but not as much. "
2:20. I may have went a tad Mastodoniacal. It wasn't intentional, but as you well know, influences happen.
Vocals are Alan Watts. If you haven't, you should look into him. He's quite profound.
Originally, this was about life, but when I heard his speech, I had to use it. Not sure if he meant it the way I took it, or if he was using the bell to illustrate that...all matter is merely energy condensed to a slow vibration, that we are all one consciousness...you know the rest
.
"You've improved since I last listened to your stuff."
That's good to hear, and thank you for saying so.
I hope to hear some new work from you soon, man. It's been far too long. Just dive the fuck in, and start swimmin'. Let the current carry you to a well earned NTB.
Take care, Mr. E.
Mr. V.
great intro are love the wind blowing behind the guitar. as all th rock elements and the magic metal riffs, fire bass bro, really cuts through, the mid frequencies are spot on everything is clearly heard, the drum track is lit too great kick and snare the distortion in place sounds top notch, that vox was a massive surprise, but so F#ckin good with the lead behind it then it just busts open again, you can clearly see this track meant a lot to you and the work you put it can be heard, and matching up the outro to the intro with the wind was a fine finish, stand up proud bro and take the desrved props, and why the f#ck not, i'll try anything i'll collab on a track with ya screaming like a banshee lol, remember Ozzy is from my City.
Thanks, Paul. I appreciate the kind words.
Funny thing about the "wind" is that when I was making that, my original intent was to recreate the sound of an ultrasound picking up a heartbeat. But as I was tweaking the settings, I got distracted for a minute and when I got back to it, the "wind" sound was still playing and I really liked it, so I went with it. I guess the ultrasound thing will be for another project, huh?
Take care.
V.
That's the crunch I covet man. Jeez I could go crazy with some of the elements In this, especially with the project I've been focusing on. This is so dope man.
Thanks, man. I'm glad you like it. Now that I've finished this, I can focus more on building a few riffs and whatnots for you to use in your projects. I was, as the cool kids these days say, hyper-focused on this bad-boy for a few weeks.
just played it full blast on the stereo - still can't fault a thing. it sounds fantastic! solid, balanced, and so close to perfection. i see why this one felt right. the frequency spectrum seems spot on - looks like you've nailed it.
i struggle with that too. sometimes everything clicks on the first try, other times it's endless tweaking that only makes things worse. honestly, i don't have a set workflow, which is part of the problem. i know the theory, but the execution often falls short.
i should use reference tracks, but i'm usually too lazy - not exactly a role model for improvement. if it doesnt work, it goes to the wip folder, never to be touched again, and then i half-ass the next thing. typical millennial - got the perseverance of a cigarette at an AA meeting.
used to be way easier to do on amphetamines, but as it turns out that's no long-term solution either (:
Oh yes. The WIP folder. It should be called the "Stopped-dead-in-it's-tracks,-never-to-be-seen-again,-and-if-it-is,-I'll-say-I'm-going-to-finish-it-someday,-then-throw-it-back-in-so-it-can-rot-in-the-dark" folder.
Typically, the only thing I have that could be considered a work flow is when I first start a new project, and I'm picking, assigning, and setting tones and effects on the instruments. Once that part is over, it's a total free-for-all. It's almost the equivalent of throwing a stack of papers in the air, and then sorting them out after they land.
Thanks for letting me know how it sounded on your system. I usually run mine through a few different ones, including the car. This one was a little elusive on finding that happy medium across them all. So, I appreciate the extra set of ears.
listening on my headphones at 4 am - this sounds incredible. can't find anything i didn't like. the mix is massive, full of energy, yet so clean. flawless to my ears. i'll check it on my stereo tomorrow.
the middle section was clever - a perfect breather between the high-energy parts, and alan watts too! bit of a fan myself :)
outstanding work, mate. thoroughly enjoying this!
Thanks, man! I appreciate that. This was one of those where I'm thoroughly pleased with it. Usually there's something that I'm not happy with when I finish, but I'm sick of trying to work it out, so I just call it done and cast it out. This one didn't have that. The only issue I had was getting the bass/mid/treble frequencies balanced evenly across all my different sound systems. So, when you listen on your stereo, please, let me know how it sounded, and if I need to make any adjustments.
Alan Watts has some very profound, deep, and insightful words. Definitely an open minded individual.
Thank you again.
Take care.
Aaron.

Description : I asked Danke if I could add some vocals to his track Future Machine and he kindly agreed and sent me the track. The lyrics are about a soldiers experience in war as he and his trench mates are told to get up and out of their trench and attack the enemy across open fields. I can only imagine the fear, tension and chaos that goes through one's mind at that moment.
Description : I discovered Meshuggah around 2003 and was blown away by the power, complexity and super Heavy sound of their music. Their "Nothing" album marked the switch to 8 string guitars and pushed Heavy Metal into a whole new territory. My track is a variant cover of their song "Nebulous". I have stayed pretty close to the original but added a few dynamic elements of my own. Its loud, its super heavy and way out there...Beyond Nebulous.
Description : This unconventional metal track is dedicated to Valvedriver https://www.looperman.com/users/profile/841435 though it's not a parody of his fine music or me actively trying to sound like it. I struggled for months with the first few minutes of this track knowing that I must be able to take it somewhere deeper, more psychedelic and powerful. Then I loaded some sampled choir voice instruments, as used in my track Reckful https://www.looperman.com/tracks/detail/160356 and suddenly found myself happily in Valveland - not a place I visit often. Feeling amply Valvedriven and newly inspired, I added the last few minutes fairly easily and very quickly. So: it's a twisting, turning mixture of grunge, menacing ambient, mystical metal and ultra-heavy funk. Instruments: electric guitar+bass, synth basses, female choir voices, one synth pad, some other synths on the nastier side of things and a few programmed heavy acoustic drumkits playing a mixture of triplets and straighter grooves. Interesting thoughts appreciated. Favourite bits? Shit bits? Please listen on good headphones/speakers as there's a lot of heavy bass in this. Now get ready to rock: balls out, hands in the air and with rebellious joy in your heart. Just try not to headbang the hell out of your laptop. Go!
Description : Whats up guys?! Been a while I know. Iv'e moved around a lot but have finally settled down and have been hard at work with my metal band. Unfortunately I've had to put my solo work on hold for a bit while I'm recording with the band. We are being professionally recorded now, a very big step up from the last recording of my band that I posted here. Anyways, hope you guys enjoy! We are, Raze The Pyre.
Description : FINAL UPDATE -- 25.06.2015 -- L.O.D - Lovers of darkness

- Joe Cramer vocals, synths and drums
I tryed to enhanced Phatkatz track. https://www.looperman.com/tracks/detail/139962

Description : used 4 loops from 3nigmadjing including the insane riser which i love big thanks for that looperman-l-2432186-0114538-3nigmadjing-insane-trap-or-dubstep-buildup and ableton with old greco stratocaster.
Description : Something I slapped together in like an hour or so, I bought a new midi keyboard with a sequencer which made dragging and dropping sounds where I wanted 'em easy, so really this was a test run, I usually write a lot of metal and don't have the time to upload my material but here's a start, this has a techno vibe???? I guess to it. Enjoy.
