Destination Space - Toddj

Name: Destination Space
Duration: 287 s
Channel: toddj
Description: This is a track from 2005, that If I remember right was entirely recorded using a Radio Shack Md1800 Keyboard. Of course I had to sell the keyboard in order to have more room. I really miss those days of creativity. I guess this song is meant for that individual who would like to make that so often dreamt of trip to outer space. So final boarding call for the flight , 'Destination Space.'

Found this on the "Rave for the Golden Age" thread. I'm really impressed by this one! It's progression is uplifting yet calming! Definitely one for those of us who'd rather be living in space! Really good work!

toddj replied Unknown - 2028 years ago

Wow, I'm honored to be on a thread. Thanks so very much for taking a listen Spiv! This is one of my best original compositions, that was mostly live takes or samples recorded by myself. More and more these days, outer space seems to be a better place to live then this corrupted world we currently live in. Thanks again for the review.

n0mad23 19th Jan 2011 04:07 - 15 years ago

I know it's a double review, but I have to let you know I never get tired of this song! I've got it on 4 different playlists on my laptop and seldom does a week go by that I don't hear it.

Outstanding.

toddj replied Unknown - 2028 years ago

Thanks again nOmad! That make me fill good to know that a song I created gets played often. Thanks for your support.

I love the vibe on this joint, it feels like im traveling somewhere unknown, great anticipation, nice track man!

alividlife 24th Jun 2009 02:11 - 17 years ago

heh, recommended by n0mad23,

great sense of space!
lol

damn! that keyboard had some great tones on it?!! did you throw down the guitar tho?

i love the off-beat calypso effect on the drums!
(err? is that ? what the hell? why does that work? lol)

i mean, it has the feeling of one two, one two, straight into the unknown!

great levels too btw!

toddj replied Unknown - 2028 years ago

Thanks Alivid for your perspective I guess I never had the feeling for calypso when I came up with this tune. I'm not real familier with that style. As far a the guitar sounding instrument. Every thing was played using that wonderful gem of a keyboard. That wah wah sound comes from the clavi intstrument. Man I do miss that Keyboard. It did have some power for just being a cheaper piece of equipment. I'm glad nOmad23 told you about it. Thanks for the listen and the comments.

ToxicVoltage 3rd Jun 2009 19:40 - 17 years ago

Whoa
I love the little wah wah sound
the bass is nice as well

I dont listen to alot
of electronic music
but im glad I did today

this is soo cool!

im fav this for sure

:)

toddj replied Unknown - 2028 years ago

Why, Thank you Bri! Glad this tune captured your attention. I beleive that little wah wah sounding instrument is some kind of Clavichord type sound. I'm sure it had been processed through some other effects settings.

Its always fun to be able to mutually appreciate each other's music.

Thanks,
Toddj

My Man!
This is GREAT! I haven't thought of Frank Tovey (aka - Fad Gadget) for a while and his stuff sprang to mind. Not so much the same style, but certainly you're coming from the same spirit of approach. You found the Soul of that Keyboard with this one - and being a bit of a space-nut myself (you have no idea) I'm thrilled to see someone else that envisions something with BEAT! Yeah!

toddj replied Unknown - 2028 years ago

I'm not familiar with Tovey but You definitley peaked my interest. Its comments like yours that helps inspire me to do the best work I can. Thanks again nomad. Peace.

Description : Sorry to bombard with the same track. Here's the final version of the track I made using an Acapella from Looperman by JakeBuzzard. Now remasterd and with sub added plus scratches and more independent equalisation on drums / doubling up on a few instruments. I've also increased the volume on the samples used and the main vocals - as mentioned before, I'm deaf in 1 ear so struggle to get a good stereo mix, honest feedback is welcomed please
