Hey Man! Brilliant work as always! You always manage to paint pictures in my mind while listening to your tracks! In this one I can imagine being in a hot desert like place walking around looking for water till all of a sudden a gust of cool wind takes away the heat you are feeling, refreshes you and you discover to your surprise a river with cool waters running nearby!
Very good stuff! Keep up the good work!
This track still is happening, isn't it? I did this on a free program called I am the Mighty Jungulator, so everything was done with a mouse (no MIDI interface). The Punjabi vocals carry enough of that Islamic sound that it creates a great visual which is why I put it up as Ambient. Thanks for reminding me about this one - it's been a while since I thought about it.
Thank you! This is one that I keep meaning to do an extended remix of. There are elements that just "work" here, and I do get that hot breeze blowing over sands vibe still when I hear it. Cheers.
Hi Sean,
I enjoyed your track a lot, first because as you know I'm really fond of your music as many people on the site are.You always got this very special atmosphere and I can't really define it but I can feel sincerity and humanity through your music
Then,I fell in love with Morocco a few years ago,so your track brought back all those memories so thanks for that too.
Cheers

Somehow this review slipped right by me! That I have "fans" here is still such a surprise! Isn't it great that we can make the music that we want to, and there are people that will like it? Still takes me by surprise at times. I've never been to Morocco, but do have aspirations and certainly have read much on the area and culture. Fez is the place I really want to visit (and jam with the Sufis there!) Thanks so much for reviewing this one my friend. Cheers.
very cool namad! you def have the nak for the ambient and this indian vox is great. ive always had a soft spot for indian stuff.all the subtle sounds add so much to your mix. fantastic job and a real pleasure of a listen ;]
thanks

Hey Sector7even - I'm savvy enough to recognize the vocal style here, and it's from the same Sufi musical tradition as the famous Nasrat Fati Ali Khan. I did transpose the vocals so the singing was deeper, and I'm pretty satisfied with the result on this one. It really should be closer to 8 minutes long, but it's nice in this form. Glad you like it. Thanks for the review!
tantalising sounds, flow, rythym, glimpses of melodies....peopl shy away from me when i would spend hours listening to instrumentals like this, daydream the day aayi have some friends from japan and nz in a band called many hands who attempt world music and rare sounds, but you got it down!a fav
I've come to understand that I prefer the instrumentation of World Music more than the genre. Especially when I hear the inherent psychedelic sounds in these instruments that electronica and technology try to recreate. I'm not sure if it's in the tones themselves, or in the arrangement, but so many are able to do very interesting things to us both in terms of emotional locations and psychological states. So, I guess you won't be surprised to learn that my childhood was spent in West Africa and Southeast Asia. IyamwhatIyam. Thanks for the fave, Mate! The ultimate compliment in my book. Cheers.
This song has a very world/middle eastern feel to it and I'm really digging that sound lately. I wish this song was a bit longer, I was getting into it when it stopped, not many songs I can say that about. The vocal track fits nicely(wonder what he is saying?) You have quite a unique, distinctive sound that totally impresses me at every listen!!
Hey Wayne - thanks for the review on this one! Actually, this was a 'discipline' experiment for me, and the first of my tracks created following the "radio play" length rule. I agree - it really should be longer, and it's one of 2 or 3 that are on my list to go back to an create the extended remix version. The difficulty is that it's more fun to create new stuff instead! Glad you enjoyed this one! Cheers.
So talented, brilliant mix of the vocals to fit in so well with this track, sure you are becoming one of my fav's here, when you have stunning work like this here, adding to fav's man, your a legend with the chillout and Ambient Genre man..
This one was a challenge for me - I could hear what the sounds wanted to do, but had a really tough time making it match with what was happening in my head. The vocals are transposed down about 4 or 5 keys, as well as lightly effected. Ultimately, it came out just fine and really has me jacked about doing more work with vocals. If only I hadn't lost my singing voice (peer pressure) in my teens!
Jeez Sean. Now that I know you a little better .... just, your "presence to me in my world" is just a brilliant one. And that really adds a whole new depth to your music. To be honest, I feel like I wouldn't even be able to say the words that could express the depth to which I feel this is sophisticated, timeless, omnitime, roots, ancestry, fresh, current, evolution, knowledge, history, chill, ambient, surrounding, delightful.
Ken - I've indicated that this medium is quite new to me - starting experimentation in April/May of `09. One of the major insights I've had has been in my own connection/interface to musical production. I've always 'felt' that instruments dictate what is played on them. Not so much the traditional means of playing, but what the sounds invoke. I pluck and bend strings on my mandolin in more of a blues approach and never do the tremolo strum thing. In this digital enviroment, I'm finding the same thing to be true for me. Certain sounds (samples) dictate the approach and in turn the composition. This is true whether using only samples or a combination of live recordings of 'analog' instruments. DJ4Real's "Light Saber" loops for me sonically resulted in this song. Finding the other samples to support them was the real challenge, and the rest was tweaking everything to make it work. For example, the vocals have been transposed and are at a subsequently lower register than the original samples. I think it's why this and other songs I've made 'work' - it's really not that different in approach to what I've always done - it's just now my fellow musicians exist in their samples, and I'm playing all my electronic devices as a single complex instrument. Systems approach, maybe? Cheers for the lovely review, friend!
MU2TUNES - thanks for the listen and review! If it's genre expanding, then it's a success in my book. Your "hot like the wind" comment reminds me of the harmatan winds that blow across the Sahara, and that sounds like success, too. Cheers.
another track of yours man that i thought i had listened to but hadn't...this and the other one are super remixable n0mad, the one I added a second review on recently!..the vocal sample is one of those awesome anonymous ones that is definitely perfect with this context...as AJ said and someone else even more directly, u have found your own niche and it's all yours man, very difficult to achieve these days guy...great...
victormusic01x....looking into every nook and cranny...
lol - "I know in myself a secret Egypt that doesn't exist/is this good or bad/I do not know" - Rumi. Silly me, I really thought that if you sat 5 people down with the same samples you'd get 5 near identical tracks. Uh-huh.
Guess you won't be surprised to learn I now know longer think this way.
The thing I'm wrestling with now is reception - are people digging my "niche" because my audience are fellow musicians/artists? Or in fact, has history finally accelerated to the point where my "thang" is actually accessible to a broader audience? Guess it doesn't really matter much, because I'm having fun with it, and it's fulfilling the creative needs I have. That there's approval is just a plus. Thanks for the review and the fav!
This really stands out when compared to much of the ambient I've heard. The atmosphere really works with the vocals. This track has a subtle intensity about it. Nice one!
Thanks. I've put it as ambient because of what it seems to do emotionally. Thought I might put it up as Hip Hop, but that seems to be pushing the boundaries of generic definition. The vocals are actually transposed about 3 or 4 notes below the original specifically to tease out that intensity and make it feel like it's compelled. I'd really like to make a long version of this one, but it won't work without the vocals, and uncredited (I've been searching for the source everywhere I can think of) they make me a bit nervous.
Play 2 now...
Yeah, I think those vocals were very apt for this song. In fact, in a way I think they made it a winner.
And sometimes I really wish this'd be the kinda stuff they play on the radio, ya know. Like have one of those 'top 40s' stations have a nightly hour of world music. Man, could you imagine? I bet that'd just blow the doors open on the industry by way of sales and such.
And normally my view of Ambient is luke-warm, but this captures a side of mellow that makes me wanna move. Great stuff mate. Def sav/fav'd. Later on!
PS. Check out the band Engine-Earz on
YouTube sometime, you'll love 'em!
The vox are actually several pitches higher than what you hear, and I think moving the tone down was a really good idea. I've got some more of these vocal samples (both male and female) that I'm itching to do something with, and this review certainly inspires me. Yeah, I'd love to hear radio stations offering up world music with some regularity. It's our exposure to other stuff that brings on the inspiration to try new things. I dig your comment about it making you "wanna move." For me this is where it's at, and I never press the record button unless my hips are wiggling in time with my groove. Gonna check out Engine-Earz right now! Thanks and cheers.
I am not usually one to comment in music outside of my genre, since i dont consider myself qualified enough to provide a good perspective on music i rarely listen, but this is amazing, im glad i dug deep enough to find this! great play, thanks for sharing!
I know just how you feel. I'm constantly amazed listening to tracks on this site that are outside of my comfort zone. Thanks for listening and feedback.
It has a nice flow and rhythm to it. Subtle, relaxing, and the vocals really tie it in nicely. Feels like a good interlude track that could be brought into another song perhaps.
Thanks SSA88 - I was really surprised at how well the vocals fit with this one - what I call "a happy accident." I've been experimenting with a version about 6 minutes long that includes more of the vocals and additional percussion layers. We'll see if it flies.... Thanks for your review, and cheers!
Very middle eastern lounge. Intensely groovey. You can't go wrong with a Dj4Real loop. Nicely mixed. A definite download and Fav. You could loop this tune several times
Two loops came from you, so a most gracious thanks from me to you! Seriously, Light Saber became virally infectious and I've obsessed over it for days. Your "dj iq" was what really pulled it together for me. Cheers!
DJ4Real's loop really did make me think about mosaic tile work and chirography and I've always had this thing about Fez, Morocco. I can't think of one without the other.

Description : the other end of the scale from me, yep people, this is a ballad. its for all the people who have lost somebody long before their time was due,
i used my experience of tragic loss and how i hid my mental health issues that stemmed from it while writing it, its repetitive but has fresh verses
its to Matthias music Du Bist Nicht Mehr Hier almost the same title, He has suffered too that's why he wrote the music and dedicated it to his brother. i hope i have done it justice
Description : This track contains several loops, all of them are from looperman artists - listed below. I don't know if "ambient" fits well for it, but i get most loops from that category. :)
Inspired by the Final Fantasy series and my ex girlfriend. Hope you will enjoy it (not my ex! :D). As always, free to use for a song, any opinions-critics welcomed... UPDATE 2015.10.24.: improved audio quality - lower lows, higher highs. Now in 256kbps!

Post script: The word "Ambient" has come up several times in the comment section for this, so I switched the genre to that. Thanks for the input. I really appreciate it.
Description : I made this with Garageband and was inspired by Anime music, such as Naruto. And if you noticed one little part is very similar to one of the melodies.
Description : ambient, guess i was trying to blur the lines between soundscape and music or something like that. will still edit here and there. put it on, lie back and sift. bass loop from LM's megapaul - darktimes and danwilson - drug induced crush
Description : Depression and sadness can sometimes serve as motivation for creativity as in the case of this track. A few months back I went through a period of loosing a few friends and co-workers. Attended a few funerals and as a result found myself reflecting on life. One night I had the urge to try to transfer my feelings into music and this is what came out. Some baratone guitar accompanied by synth and accapella.
Final EDIT: Further tweaking on levels and a slight change up in the timimg of the choir section.
Description : Hello,
this is a track between composition and cover.
Amandine (Sova Berry or Dine on soundcloud) made a cover of the a cappella "Song of Sophia" by Dead Can Dance.
I liked it very much, so i decided to make an instrumental with her vocals.
Hope you'll like it and if you want to comment, you are welcome, whatever you think.
Bye
