Loving the jungle feel! :D great track and I'm glad to have listened to it from the featured side bar thing :). Very inspirational! Keep up the good work! :D xxx
Great track here.It has an electric steel feeing to me with a dance edge.Futuristic and scene setting.I really like the way this was produced.Great job!!
I like this track. I've got an earlier, more extended version posted here, too that I'm going back to and really reworking. This was really a sound track to an imaginary sci-fi cartoon (anime) that I was trying to soundscape - so I think it came out really well. Visual and futuristic to be sure with nods at biomimicry. Glad you dig this one! Cheers.
Here's a bit of trivia for you - Peter Gabriel's "melty face" album with "Games without Frontiers" and "Biko" - the album art was done by Peter Chrisopherson (aka Sleazy) who was one of the original Throbbing Gristle members. He went on to be the backbone of the Post Industrial band Coil. Got to love those graphic artists that turn to sonics later on (wait - this is me as well!) Cheers!
Another reason to replace my stylus - I've got everything Peter Gabriel did up through So, and lot's of 12 in. singles, too. Thanks for the review and encouragement, and invoking talent that kind of raises the bar a bit. Cheers!
Intriguing. All over the place - Layers - In the Mix - Makes me think of an Industrial Festival with lots of Tinker Toys, Robotics, Gizmos and head turning subculture type activites. Carnival?
Hello KAMPUTERA! Fantastic - someone new for me to check out music from! Thanks for alerting me to your presence. There's definitely a Post-Industrial sensibility to this track, and I'm glad you hear it. I actually did this originally as a theme song for an imaginary anime, where everything was patterned off of bio-mimicry. Maybe it's bio-industrial carnival music? Cheers, and expect a visit from me presently.
Ohhhhh yeahhhhhh. Sweet. Man, how I dig the growly landscape with the boppy beat and chirpy melodic snippets bouncing on top. Way cool. The one thing, fwiw, is the first part (dut-dut-dut-dut) of the chirpy bits seems like they could be a bpm or 2 faster somehow; they seem ever-so-slightly labored whereas feel like they wanna be a tad crisper and lighter. Then again, what do I know?
My man, you're the first to spot this slight lag in bpm. Actually, it's deliberate (in this case) as it adds a tension that I felt the piece needed. It's my nod at the limitations of bio-mimicry, and how we'll never achieve the elegance that nature (read biology) does without effort. Apparently, you know a great deal more than you think as you're the only one that's heard the labored part of this. Far out!
Stay tuned - this is the first one I'm coming back to finish the extended remix on! Thanks for the nod of approval (ultimate compliment) on this one, and you'll be the first I notify when the extended version flies! Cheers.
Excellent remix, this really gets you moving! The rythym has a nice flow, very fluid. I find it envokes an sci-fi robotic atmoshpere, multi species kinda vibe. 5th Element comes to mind :) Wicked stuff. Where can we get a copy :)
The Fifth Element! I love that movie - the art designer was Moebius, my all time favorite sci-fi graphic artist! Sweet. Brought a much needed grin to my face upon reading this. This song is available on nearly all digital distribution sites currently (iTunes, emusic, etunes, 7digital, etc.) along with 8 other tracks. To see the complete album list, check out my page - http://megamonstermusic.com/index_files/Page391.htm Thanks for the major compliment here!
I must say I'm never disappointed with your tracks whatever the genre. This one has a really great beat, industrial somehow but at the same time the whole track is smooth.Really enjoyed

So glad you hear the industrial sensibility that's underneath this piece! I was really trying to find a postIndustrial edge, as biomimicry was the principal I was hoping to invoke. Our creations say much about our understanding of ourselves, and biomimicry seems to be a sort of return to the source. Hopefully it made you tap your feet or bob your head as well - as this really is an attempt to make a Dance track. Thanks for the listen and review, mon ami.
Well sir you've definitely got my vote in the category of "Response to a previous review on the current track". :D
And this time I'm able to bounce with this just fine!, so you taught me well. Cuz believe you me I did try!
:) Cheers bro. Beautiful work - Jungulation is the right word!! Just my kind of jungle too - Future jungles!! Where all the leaves glow like matrix code. Awesome.
"Where all the leaves glow like matrix code" - man, I so dig that phrase! And I realize just how much I appreciate your presence on this site - what a cool little virtual community we've found. Gotta say, CalifKen your work continues to impress me, and I'm honored to belong to the same circle of artists here that you do. Thanks for the wonderful review. Cheers.
Play 2 now...
I'll admit that I haven't heard the original mix yet (will do that after this one). Kind of odd for me (doing the remix first and then the original). Eh, sometimes it's cool to work in reverse order IMO.
Though this is short I really dig the Steel drums on this. And the growly nature of the bass (adds a nice bit of flavor to this). Could stand to have a bit more on the high end of things I'm thinkin. Maybe you could add some if ya ever go to remix this further. Keep bangin 'em out mate. Later on!
damn, this is somethin' somethin' else man, extremely interesting how you've distilled this down to...a...dance single!!...man, vinyl, those were the daze.....need to listen to this again as my brain is kinda fried at the moment lol, but I'm already diggin' it dude :)...i'll be back
Flavors are now really only hints, but it is what it is. I'm pleased. The only other Pop Song I've ever made was a total parody of the genre - a kalimba made from a garden rake mounted on the neckless body of a George Washburn acoustic run through an old MIDI reverse sample, with my spouse playing a collection of sticks arranged on the floor in wind-chime nonpatterns. Our friend played subtle electric guitar stroking silent notes and chords with a glass slide and twisting the volume up with his pinkie. His spouse was stroking fingers and fingernails over the skin of a large frame drum. Recorded on analog 4-track, we titled it, "Pop Song."
This track is an exceptional detour for my day. Mechanical and peaceful simultaneously. The inspiration for this must have come from so many directions. Great work!
Thanks Spivkurl. Really, it started as a personal challenge to see if I could approach "commercial flavors" while maintaining the sonic style(s) I'm exploring right now. I'm not sure about how successful the attempt has been, but it's a groovy tune, in which I've learned a lot in the process of creating. Thanks for the listen and review.
The melody is fantastic in its movement, appropriately melding into itself again to allude to its chorus. This piece is a monster. It has so much proportion. This is truly inspired work. A pleasure to hear again and again until my ears wear out.
My man in Alberta - Thanks for the listen and encouragement! I've got the extended piece "Jungulation Victor" back up on Live and am going for the 6.5 to 7.5 satisfying version next. Won't wear out the replay button so fast this way! Cheers.
Yeah man! I played it for my 40 year old brother-in-law yesterday, and he said it was "the old Depeche Mode" that he loved. Actually I was trying to indirectly channel (via Siouxsie Sioux and Peter Gabriel) the guy that gave Depeche their break - Fad Gadget - aka Frank Tovey. Insurrectionist subversive Pop all the way! Thanks!
What I would put into this for danceability - some sort of high freq drum element, be it a snare, or something, to provide bounce points. Cuz I'm sittin here and I want to bounce to it, but I'm not sure when and where to bounce. Does that make sense?
Yes it does - thanks! I bet some of my African friends will grin, because this one actually has some of that rhythmic sensibility behind it. The secret is to follow one rhythm with your hips, one with your shoulders and arms, and the other with your head. When all else fails, close the blinds, remove all clothing, bite your lip and begin to gyrate. I'm going to give a high end beat a try and see if that makes it a bit more accessible. I was thinking maybe a high hat or maybe clacker sticks. Cheers.

Description : I have been using LooperMan for practice for some time now. This my most recent track. The only loop in the song is BabyGee's vocals. Free to download and if you repost tag me so I can share it as well.
Description : A psychedelic techno cello epic. It's not really techno as it's only 110 BPM but something like that (eg breakbeat), with lots of banging beats and arpeggiated acid synths, plus a whole load of my layered cello playing techniques. There aren't that many synths used but they do a lot of work and are carefully automated. No guitar. Drums are mostly a lot of drum loops, supported by a few programmed acoustic drumkits. Very busy and complicated with loads of different sections (funky, chilled, fast, heavy) that make up a constantly progressing trip. I don't know if there's any other cello music like this so let me know if you think there is. Interesting feedback appreciated - criticism, praise, ideas etc. Enjoy...
Description : Summer type dance track, for those precious 2 weeks off, if you can get them! Made around a selection of different loops and some keys from me.
Description : Inspired by an experimental percussion piece I heard. Rhythmic ticking builds into pounding beats and heavy soundscapes. I haven't done any mixing or mastering yet so tell me what you think. Any and all comments are welcome.
Description : A song about a damaged soul. Sadly, based on a true story. Gorgeous loops here are by Hardstyle Rythm, Aboe, and Princess Hollywood. All basslines by that fiendish genius Rasputin. Take a bow, gentlemen
Description : Pretty basic dance track. Was experimenting with the Falcon synth plugin, hence the name. Instrumentation for the melody lines might be a bit unusual, more orchestral. Vocoder is from the Icarus synth plugin, a great new instrument.
Description : Hello everyone here's a song from my album anymore that really is near and dear to my heart I hope you guys and enjoy it and never let anyone bring you down or tell you that you are good enough!
