Description : This song sort of built itself based on a couple of the elements in it. The blipping at the start and end made me think of the idea of someone trying to tune in a radio, or maybe sending out a coded message for help. I built it all from VSTI, aside from the rhythm, which came from Breakbeat Paradise. The vocals are deliberately echoey (not sure if I made the right choice with that... I know it makes the lyrics harder to understand). I wanted the feel of someone trapped inside a prison and hearing their voice echo back at them. I suppose you could say I feel close to these lyrics. I spent 13 years in an abusive relationship... by the time I left, I was so wrecked I didn't want to let any man close enough to hurt me again. The recent signing of my divorce papers (and having to spend time around my ex) dug up a lot of memories I'd just rather stay buried... and although I'm in a much happier place now, some stuff doesn't go away so easily. Song writing is amazing therapy... I guess that's part of what got me started in the first place. - Please, if you think I need to change stuff, vocal mix etc, tell me. I'm still experimenting lol. Oh and offer me some ideas as to what genre this falls into cause I'm not totally sure myself?

..I dont really know how to explain this properly.
just as slap encapsulated emotion of a friend passing..you have done the same for me here..after reading the description before listening I already had emotion as I grew up with an abusive father [alcoholic] who was in turn abusive to my mother...
what a great way to release pain and as you said, therepy for you....and me
Heya gizz... I really feel for you. My kids are currently just realizing exactly what and who their dad is.. and it's not a pretty picture. Thankfully my kids have my fiance in their lives too, and he's an amazing person and someone I am proud to have around my children. I'm glad this touched you.
Thanks very much... when I first did the track I wasn't sure if I should have, especially when a friend of mine said he didn't like it. Glad that others seem to think it sounds okay :)
i would put this under chill. love the originality of your music. definately hear the pain in your voice and by the way it sounds very nice... the voice, not the pain... u know what i mean :)
yeah not really sure most the time WHAT to put stuff under cause I play around with so many aspects of electronic music and I tend to not know which one is dominant lol. Thanks for listening, glad you liked it.. and I knew what you meant ;) hehe
every one is there own worst critic, lol . the echo in your vocals seem to match the distance that the music portrayed. like you said, as if a radio was being tuned in, and the person listening to it tuned in your song just when they needed it the most, and your song bringing the peace or enlightenment that they absolutely needed at that exact moment. you can't fake pain, and you can't
fake quality! They both have brought you here.
Thank You Fiery
Thanks very much Johnny... I guess the only way I have to let out pain at the moment is in my music so I bet there'll be more. I'm glad you liked this... a lot of me went into it :)
Music is what you make it, its from your heart, some of these songs cannot be put under a genre because its emotional and personal, it's your music and it's your heart we're hearing, good stuff, how you explained it is how it seemed.
I love this song. it's really good you have a lot of talent. You should have more confidence in your mixing lol cuz you're not bad. keep it up
ps im favoriting this song lol
Hehe thanks for favoriting :) My biggest worry is I hear stuff in my speakers in my room here and I go ugh.. at least with MY voice... I'm always worried others will hear it the same lmao. Thanks for listening, I'm glad you liked it :) Lisa
Thanks very much, I'm glad you liked it :) I was hoping to capture the feeling of aloneness... it was how I felt during that period of my life. Thanks for listening.
Thanks very much :) I was really hoping the echo would help keep the atmosphere of the song in tune because I love songs that carry that texture in emotion in them. Thanks for listening, I'm glad you liked it. Lisa
I did get a little distracted by the echo and had to listen to this song twice to get all the words, but I'm not saying that is a bad thing.
I enjoyed what you're going for here. I'm gunna grab my headphones so I can give this a proper listening. The drumbeat with the simple ambient tracks really help keep attention on the beautifly sung vocals. Good song, great message.

Yeah I was having a hard time tweaking the echo so it was just enough and I finally got frustrated and left it like this and let others decide if it sucked lol. Thanks for listening, I'm glad that you liked the song... nothing works better than life for inspiration to lyrics :) Lisa
L - this track is sad and beautiful. There's nothing wrong with your vox, because your inflection emotes nothing but melancholy truth. I am sorry (or happy?) about your split, but you couldn't stay stuck. and dudes who abuse need to be held down and made to feel what it's like from the other side.
I like your new avatar also btw! and write me.

Heya Trey :) You know enough about my story now to know what spurred this song. It's funny really because looking back I could have left so much earlier and I chose the "comfort zone" route. Duh. lol I am a lot happier now but sometimes stuff going on in my life digs up the old pain and I need to let it out. I used to do that with covers but it's just not cutting it anymore. Thanks for listening.. glad you liked this. x Lisa
I loved the first mix you put up of this track, so when i saw this one i had to have a listen. I must say i think you have done a fantastic job with. the vocals work well. it has a deep emotive feel, and after reading your description it's easy to see why. i think it's beautiful that you are maikng music from the heart and not out just to make money. although i think you probably could. peace and progress...
I'm glad that you liked this. I couldn't see myself making music just for the sake of a few $$... it takes too much out of me to only be for that purpose, you know? I am planning on putting together a cd once I have enough tracks worthy of it, mainly because I've been asked by a lot of the folks I did the karaoke thing with (and a lot of my friends as well). It will be a small production, I can't afford to go all out... and maybe I'll make some money to put toward my kids, who knows :-) ... but money or no money I'll still make music, it's not a want, it's a need hehe. Thanks for listening and for the nice review.
great track, great ambience ....
about the echo: for the effect you wanted to achieve I would have tried a very short but loud echo with just one repetition, the way you did it it sounds as you were in a very large cell .... but: I'm not sure if a short echo would sound good in the song ... just try and listen ...
anyway, I really like this track very much, most of all the bassline, it delivers a fearful atmosphere which is a very good contrast to your fragile voice - that's fantastic!!!
and I think that's the point of the story ....
Yeah... it took me a LOT of messing around in Adobe (and 2 vocal tracks) to find the right dose of echo... because I wanted it to blend too. I'm glad that the song came across the way you interpreted it, that was my intention (as you have obviously guessed). Thanks for listening, I'm glad you liked it :-)
The echo on the vocals sounds good, I like it. This song makes me want to drive around and look for someone that pissed me off. Good song, good emotion.
Can you pretend my ex pissed you off? OOPS did I say that out loud??? :-P I'm glad you liked this... I wasn't sure about the echo, was afraid it deterred from the song more than added (always afraid of my mixing lol) Thanks for the review :-)

Description : Feel free to check out the video on YT as well (Alan McLaren Project - Upside Down) of this 6min journey from electronic to rock with some psychedelic moments...
This is my latest, but also one of my earliest tracks.... any feedback is more than welcome, thanks :)
Description : A demo of one of my current projects. The chorus vocal sounds like "Aaaaraashe" to me. The song is in C# minor with a nod to C# pythagorean on the chorus. The beat on the verse was inspired by the Peter Gabriel song Intruder.
Description : This is one of my earliest productions that I did at the start of my recording career. I did not have a keyboard at the time I made this song, so I improvised and used my sister's iPad and a 5 dollar GarageBand application instead, and plugged the headset jack into into my PT6 rig and did my best to turn each individual track (which were mono and there were about 25 tracks or so) into a stereo image. Then recorded vocals over it. My computer was so old and slow that I had to mix my music and then BOUNCE it to a new session - four times. My computer (which had 512 MB RAM and an 80 GB hard drive) couldn't handle more than 8 tracks at a time or it'd stop working because the processor couldn't handle it. Took me FOREVER to do. But I got it done. Had a lot of fun doing it too, even if it isn't my "best" work. I'm still happy with it, considering I didn't have many tools to choose from at the time.
Description : Long time lurker first time poster, pretty new to production n stuff, this is my first track in Ableton Live.
was going for a darkwave/synthwave sound, reminiscent of Justice, Carpenter Brut, Perturbator, ect.
Looking for some feed back, constructive criticisms or even just your thoughts if you liked it or not. This is just a rough cut on this current WIP, just the bones of it if you will.. If you have some cool title suggestions, would love to hear those too.
Thanks for listening.

Description : Far out mid-tempo fat beat deep chillout grooves with Eastern/Arabic and slightly menacing vibes, huge delayed synth bass and a great palette of psychedelic layered and intricate sounds (mostly synths) and a stirring, epic feel. Even has guitar solo section reminiscent of some 80s power rock which is then followed by a brief synth harp solo. I began making it straight after staying round the flat of the flute player from the legendary Ozric Tentacles - easily the greatest ever space rock band. I made this in about 2001 and still think it might be my best track (and it's nice and short, for a change). My production skills were much weaker in those days (no EQ, compression or mastering used here) but, somehow, this one turned out pretty much just right. Feel free to disagree. Now sit back and get ready to trip extremely far out. If you manage to return, let me know how that trip was...
Description : Got some spare time finally...just started on some random ideas basically (lets say kygo meets alan walker). A blend of dubstep, edm, downbeat, tropical etc.
It's still a work in progress, so i would appreciate your honest inputs. Thanks to all those whose loops I have used in here, sorry I don't have time to search them out.
Edit-added some more filthy sounds from my previous tracks and gave it some ending. Advice will be helpful.
