This is still my favourite Al, your guitar on this is just too brilliant.

Yes we were both new at this long distance collab and just how it would work out,at least I speak for myself.
The track at once seems so simple but I remember all the the thought that went into it...at the time we had few vocalist on the loop and I remember the little scat you added that vocally qued me what to do,not everyone knows that but it was such an easy tune to play too..I think I did the solo in one straight take,it was such a joy to play and listen even now.I don't even have the individual tracks because I considered it"done" at least all I could do and you gave me everything...a wonderful pallet to play but also when not to play.
I've said it before many times that it's not always how many notes you play but just play the right ones, which I think on this one we both accomplished.
Thank you my good friend and don't take my silence as I don't care,I just have A lot on me at this time but I'm trying to dig up some old tracks and make the effort.
Miracles do happen..I'll be back!

Love you my brother and hope you are well.

I have listened to most of your tracks really nice.
Your Guitar playing is great.
People do not understand that you have to play Fender Strats and Telecasters to get this tone.
AllenV
AllenV replied 17th Aug 2012 - 12 years ago
Thanks midiman,
I'm so pleased you enjoy my guitar parts.
You're right that the guitar makes a big difference.
It's all about the right tone in the end...no matter what guitar you use.
I was a die hard Les Paul fan for quite a few years and the only reason I switched was a trip to Nashville we made in the 90's and all the country musicians were playing Teles but I soon found out how versatile the instrument really is and for proof...yes all my tracks were recorded with it...even the rock tunes.

Thank you for taking the time to listen,it means a lot!

Allen.

Hey GB!
I'm tellin' you my friend,I didn't start recording until I joined the loop and everyone here has been so giving of their talent and advice but the one thing that rises above all is collaborating...it's how I met SpellJammer on this song and learned so much just from working with him.
Everyone I collab with here brings something new to the table and I try to learn from their experience. We have great musicians, producers, beat makers,vocalist...the list goes on and on here on Looperman.

If you need it,just ask!
Thanks again for your review.

ps.I only play guitar and a little production,my focus is making these great artists sound a little better if I can...they truly sound great all by themselves.

What a great collaboration!!! It is always a master's class in guitar when I drop by your profile and listen to a track or two, but when you collaborate with Spelljammer, well, then it becomes a master's class in producing a fantastic song. This really is one of the best tracks I've heard in a while.

Bravo to both of you. I'll shut up now and applaud.

Really beautifully crafted track, love the guitar work here Allen, I can almost here a Don Henley / Marc Cohn-esque vocal on this! It really is superb quality.

Cheers, Colin.

AllenV replied Unknown
Thank you Colin,We're always looking for the right vocals.SpellJammer came up with this song idea and played all keys and percussion...and produced his own parts,I just filled in the guitars where needed.
He brings his best to the table and I try to complement the meal and I'm proud to be part of this.
I'm glad you enjoyed it!

This is a class track Allen. your guitar sits smoothly on top of Spelljammers piano riff, and you rightly say you are both on the same wavelength. If any of the girls give this track a listen then maybe they could add a vocal and lyrics to your mastertrack but they would have to be exceptionally good to mix in the right way to your track. (just an idea). this is fav'd and dwnload'd from me.
AllenV
AllenV replied Unknown
Thank you Daniel!Vocals would be great for this and is what Spelljammer had in mind to begin with but you know how that goes, so many tunes get released as instrumentals so maybe someone will offer.I was thinking that we might start approaching them!

You write really beautiful music. I can't even describe exactly what I'm thinking - but they do what they need to do and paint a picture for me. I have a lot of rock influences as well and you're very talented when it comes to bringing your own feel to other genres. Awesome. =)

I appreciate your comment about painting a picture.Even though Spelljammer had the original idea, he put his song in my hands and I'm pleased you could hear my devotion to what he started and I tried to complement his vision...and we do communicate well, that helps!I do think it's great to have different influences...you just need to kmow when and where to use them,so I strive to get it right:)

I like this track alot, the hi hats sound a bit too trebly on my end the bass drums could use tad more low frequency responce to them. The guitar tone sounds perfect. Very good in terms of musicality and creativity. I like how the piano and guitar feed off each other. Great track!

Hey thanks Purge! It's good to hear how it sounds on the other end,I'm almost always through headphones so I don't get the whole picture sometimes.SpellJammer had the piano down first and I followed him... and he knows what he's doin' so that made it easy.

Thank you Estefano,I appreciate your kind comments.I think it has taken me many years to use wisdom as much as ability when it comes to collabs, and I give credit to these wonderful artists and their original song ideas that are my inspiration.I'm just now at this point in my life being able to play out every musical dream i've had.Where else in a three month period can you play rock in Croatia,RnB in South Africa, reggae in Sweden,Trance in Germany, jazz in France and whatever I did with NickQ in the UK...lol, and never leave your home town.

Nice track! sounds really sharp and refined, everything compliments each other. like the piano and the guitar a lot, really good stuff! felt like you could have taken this a lot farther than you did, as it seemed a bit conservative, but nonetheless it was a solid track
AllenV
AllenV replied Unknown
Thank you Acidizer,Your right about it being conservative...it was a little intentional. There are more songs in the works and I think they may push a little farther so we held back some to keep a simple vibe noing this would not be the only tune in the same piano guitar style so I appreciate that you heard that and it was a call based on what is going to come...kinda like a prelude...plus I'm running low on guitar licks...lol
Thanks again for the input!

Description : Do not freak out just because this is jazz! There's also blues, rock, funk and a little hip hop in it to break up the deep, chillout jazz sections - gets particularly rocking then funky at the end. Main bassline (the track's foundation) is recycled leftover slide resonator guitar parts detuned one octave to make a slide bass sound. Also features: piano, violin, hammered dulcimer, organ, ethereal pad guitar, bass guitar, jazz/blues/rock electric guitar and multiple programmed acoustic drumkits. This was difficult to make at times as I thought I needed more leads parts eg from sax or trumpet. But I'm happyish with the end result. I expect very little interest in this as it's both jazz and long jazz. But it's also an unusual type of genre-mixing jazz. So, leave your thoughts, good or bad, if you like...

I "made a promise" that my next track will be use a lot of jazzy loops - well, i done with this track, for the great sadness of jazz lovers or experts i think - i fear they will never forgive me. :) While my ISP launches my internet out of the Earth system for a long time, i had to face the fact that i dont have too much downloaded jazz loops on my computer, so i think no wonder that this one is sounds like if i smoke some marihuana while making it. But hey, who cares, i like the result - it reminds me the (maybe only) really funny episode of "Breaking Bad", where Pinkman uses some heroin and flyes up with an idiotic smile on his face - that chapter is priceless. :D
