I actually think the different guitar textures add character to this one, and helps set it apart from the normal cookie cutter guitar tracks we hear from the guitar gods. Really nice job on this.
I hear what you're talking about regarding the effects of different mics. The track might well be worth doing over. If you have guitar bits you don't want. let me know. I'm sure I can find a place for them in a track.
silvestre, i am truly honored, (and i hope you don't mind) becaused i liked your 'Christmas' guitar work so much, i dowloaded it onto my ipad. Hope to hear more from you in '11.

Some great guitar playin here, a classic rock feel to it. Liked the bongos too. Lyrics would be cool but the fills really filled up the space nicely. Mix is ok, think you could bring the guitar more to the front like Kikajon mentioned but overall I liked the track.
Hi Wayne, appreciate your input. You helped me out alot last time. I wanted to get a 'decent mix' on some of the trax already uploaded, this one especially was difficult because I reorded it in parts at different times, which makes it hard ot 'match' the sounds, and I used more separation on the mics than before, which you have mentioned. I'll give it one more try.
lookin forward more great music from you in '11, Jonathan
hey, what a cool lead guitar!
In general, great guitar work and you've that pure sound, Sounds to me like a les paul strait through a marshall with a 4x12. I really like that. (The lead actually sounds a bit like diMeola's setup.)
But I wonder if the mic isn't a bit too far from the amps, picking up the bouncing room sound. It's cool but a risky, the sound tends to gets a little boomy at times.
In all, a really nice tune well played.

Happy NY Kikajon, a lotta people on Looperman genuinely appreciate your interest in others, as do I. You hit the nail right on the head, on this paricular track I experamented with more space between the mic-amp. I liked the sound i got, but it is a bit of a task to mix (with everything else miced right up on the speaker screan). I'll give it one more try.
I really enjoy your music and will be checking back to your page frequently in '11. Jonathan
Coming from you, I take that as quite a compliment. It's nice to get a possitive review from some who at your level of talent or better. I don't get 'out and around' as much as i should on Looperman, but whenever someone takes the time to drop me a line, I visit their page. I must say, your years of playing shine throgh on your tracks. I especially liked your song 'Hammer Down.'
Hats off to you,
Emann
cool track, love the different guitars, its pretty good. its too bad you couldnt get it to work out with lyrics, but i could see how this would be a hard song to write lyrics to. good work on this one
Thanks for your comment. It seems one always learn something from each track. The conection and respect of fellow musicians makes it worth while. I also listened to some of your stuff and was equally impressed. Keep on rockin!
Thanks, I made a mistake micking the solos though, you probably noticed the lack of punch on the solos - I got lazy and didn't lift up the amp to the level of the mics (I don't have boom-stands at home). Thats why solos sound so 'distant.' I won't make that mistake again.
keep on rockin!
I liked the track. I would have liked to hear the version with lyrics because the subject has many possibilities. The guitar solos are great and heartbreaking. Great track.
Eh Vicen, thanks for your words! I woke up this morning and read your comment and was so encouraged, I sat down and wrote the lyrics for a complete song (4 verses), something I can never remember doing, thanks.
Sounds pretty darn nice to me, Merlin. The guitar riffs are par excellence, my friend. I'd still like to hear the version with lyrics though, just for comparison's sake.
hi Spyder, thanks for taking the time to comment. I've struggled with writting. Two or three times, it just came so easily, but as in this case, the words started out simple and then just seemed to get lost. I want to record some voice tracks this year, though. Keep on rockin!

Description : This is my newest creation, at a stage very near to completion. No third-party mastering or mixing, as with all my tracks. Just have to fix a few tiny things. I FINALLY WAS ABLE TO MIX EVERYTHING IN THE SAME SESSION. This song has all human-played instruments - no quantization or MIDI! My brother does all the vocals except for the interlude part, which I do. My other brother plays the rhythm guitar (a Gibson Les Paul Custom - only one of 12 in the world!!) and I play the accompanying guitar (a Johnny Mar Jag and PRS). He has a lot of guitars :P A good friend of ours, Ronnie, plays the bass and another friend, Freddie, plays the drums. The drum track was done in one take (had to use an electric drum set due to time constraints - but acoustic kits are so much better). Overall, pretty satisfied with the result. Let me know your thoughts.
Description : Feel free to check out the lyrics video on YT as well :) This is a new track based on the great vocals by Ashes and Dreams! Again, a mix of electronic/progressive/rock, any feedback is welcome
Description : The first track I sing on. Cheap stage mic & no fancy plugins. Heavily guitar laden to the point it's got a bit of a shoegaze thing going on. I pulled the lyrics out of my ass & yes, they're a bit silly.
Description : BIG UPDATE 26/02/2014 - So, this was an 18 min track that I have now successfully split in two. 2nd half I uploaded a few weeks ago (Things That Should Always Be, with the bouncy 2 min reggae intro). This is the first half, which has a new mix, a mega chill, meditative ending and a little jazz thrown in for good measure. Takes a few minutes for beat to really kick in. Constantly evolving electric guitar, bass guitar, acoustic drums and lead banjo driven by fat, busy 80BPM grooves with a bit of a reggae and shuffle feel. Also: synth choir voices, dulcimer, violin, cello, shimmering pads. Builds up gradually to nice and rocking and then gets taken back down for the big comedown chill. I really don't know what sort of genre this is except 'far out'. I think it sounds more like a live band than one guy playing instruments and manipulating a DAW. Not my best track but a bit of blissful, sunny island fun. Real positive vibe here so I hope you give it a chance to unfold and unfurl. Sit back, clear your schedule and immerse yourself in these trippy sonic experiments cooked up deep in my off-planet underground laboratory. I have to send the MP3 to Earth via space courier (not cheap).

Description : In the 1700's the Comanche Indians became known as the Lords of the Southern Plains. The Comanche ruled a region that stretched across New Mexico, Kansas, Oklahoma, Colorado and deep into the Texas Panhandle. The most feared and savage warriors of all the tribes of the old West.
