Description : I made this with hip hop in mind, however as usual my tracks don't always go quite as planned haha. It turned out pretty ambient, and slightly dramatic. I used a combo between Thumbjam, Drumtrack8, and tweaking done in Beatmaker.
As usual, headphones are highly recommended.

Yo Scythe, Sick track, but actually my first reaction was the same as woundedbuffalo... I feel like the drums... Lack something? I feel like they're almost too muted or not quite as full as they could be. I guess I Like the beat, I even like the drums for an intro, but I feel like they really need to "kick in" at some point to really make this beat groove. Otherwise, those strings in thumbjam? damn son, what settings were you using if you don't mind me asking? I'm still having trouble with exporting sounds and the copy/paste function, but I'd love to how you use thumbjam so well...
Regardless of whether you change the drums, it's a keeper. Way to push the Itech

*Edit as far as the drums go, I think just adding over the top some bass with some "boom" and maybe a really tight clap over the snares would do wonders. Just a thought though

Yup, Im actually hearing it too now that Ive read your's n Wounded's perspective. Im going to go ahead and try and get more punch from them. As for Thumbjam, I commonly use minor scales because they sound much more sorrowful, which is a tone I really dig. I also do a lot of comboing between melodies and chords to really give the strings some depth.
Other than that, Id say just let the sound take you man. Most of the stuff I make, when it comes to melody, it's always just been me rolling with what feels right. I swear, sometimes I think Im getting possessed by my own mind and it's doing things I just can't explain haha.
Try just improving, having fun you know? and then build on it. Also, use both of those thumbs man, trust, it adds a lot of flavor to the sound coming from TJ.
As for the issues, take a vid yeah? send it to broken.scythe@yahoo.com and ill take a look and see if I can help.
Thanks for listening Thanx! Im going to go check a track of yours right now man.

I think every note in the piece is sweet from note one to note last (although it did seem a tad sudden :-). I even dig the title. This is a great ambient piece. Very well put together.

Haha yeah it does pop a bit, not the best example of transitioning lol
Thanks a lot John, I actually was thinking about people who stress w? somehow that out too much you know? try to plan everything and then trip when it falls apart.
somehow that lead to the creation of this haha.
Thanks for the listen John :)

I like the meshing of orchestral and hip hop, can't go wrong with that in my book. Nice production, I think it sounds just fine as is though would consider extending the break at 2:05 so it's much longer and more dramatic, this would extend the whole song and make it sound a bit more polished/complete. Great tune. - DF

Thanks a lot man, I agree, orchestral hip hop is a beautiful mix. I'm glad I pulled it off well enough for you to enjoy. I'm actually going to extend that break now bro, just because I agree with you on it. It rebuilds too fast.
Thanks for the listen.

I think the percs go well with the strings cos they're quite minimal. It's an unusual track and pretty original...which is hard to do nowadays :)

Really interesting. For me very dry sound, lo-fi experience, no reverb at least a little. This is not so typical for ambient. There are no roomy, spacey sounds. This is electro with a classical groove. Nice work, but it seems to be unfinished - loopy and track needs mastering.

The intro had me.
The drums lost me.
I was totally feeling the classical/almost ambient part of the song, and then....they came in.
Not to say i didn't like the drums, they were programmed very well. i like the depth of the bass drum and the arrangement of the drum track itself.
i just dont think that they meshed well together as an "ambient" type of song.
I think they would be better suited as 2 seperate or individual songs.
hope this helps.

To be honest, I at first tried to make this into a rap track. Thing is, as it progressed, I went back to my roots with the ambient feel. Ive always maintained strong percussion in my tracks, so I couldnt help myself here.
However your comment is heard and I may just make a diff version. Only time will tell =P
thanks for the listen.

Post script: The word "Ambient" has come up several times in the comment section for this, so I switched the genre to that. Thanks for the input. I really appreciate it.

Description : EDIT: I adjusted the ending as per Paperkup's suggestion. I like it better. Maybe you will too.

The realization, and inevitable acceptance that the last ember of life is smouldering into obscurity. Then finally, and peacefully, exhaling the final breath of life.
This is a dark ambient track that will go between two of my other tracks. A good pair of headphones/earbuds are highly suggested for this one.

Opinions and criticisms are welcome. Enjoy, and take care. V.

Description : Depression and sadness can sometimes serve as motivation for creativity as in the case of this track. A few months back I went through a period of loosing a few friends and co-workers. Attended a few funerals and as a result found myself reflecting on life. One night I had the urge to try to transfer my feelings into music and this is what came out. Some baratone guitar accompanied by synth and accapella.
Final EDIT: Further tweaking on levels and a slight change up in the timimg of the choir section.

Description : I intentionally made this song minimalistic. The drums I spliced together from some drum loops I had, there's one other loop in the mix, the rest of the instruments are played by me (bass and synths). I used the excellent (and free) Cakewalk z3ta+ vst and the BBC Symphony vst. My intention was to create a very simple and dream like ambient track. Feel free to download or comment. Feedback is always welcome. Thanks.

Description : Hello,
this is a track between composition and cover.
Amandine (Sova Berry or Dine on soundcloud) made a cover of the a cappella "Song of Sophia" by Dead Can Dance.
I liked it very much, so i decided to make an instrumental with her vocals.
Hope you'll like it and if you want to comment, you are welcome, whatever you think.
Bye
