Hey John!
It's kinda funny cause I was listening to his vocal and believe me I am not set up for full productions, they are rare for me as I have trouble creating drums...any drums, unless sent to me from our friends so I was looking for something with vocals I could just play guitar with...this was it.
Vigwig!!Hello my friend, thank you very much for the comment and complement!I felt inspired from the awesome vocal.
Thanks again for listening and checking it out.
See you in chat!
Nice guitar playing Allen. Vocals are outa sight. Took me a minute to realize the guitar is the only instrument playing. That's pretty impressive actually, that this track required only guitar and vocals and sounds perfect. Really a great job. Take it easy.
Gord
Thank you so much Gord,I really got inspired by Tacatta's vocal pella and inspiration for me is at least half of the equation.I sat down with his track loaded and played for a short while and it just worked..I hoped!
Thanks again for the comments,I do this for the love of music and sharing!
Oh,I have to add that the fact that his vocal could stand alone made me not want to take away from the feel of the song,so I followed his lead.
I bow to you oh great master of the tele. This is great! You really got a lot of heart and soul in your playing! Are you mic'd (what amp) or straight interface (what DAW)... cause the amp sounds great...all thats missing is the buzzing (Fender joke).
Hey DJ...yes,believe it or not it is the Zoom G2.1u.I'll tell you,it's not my fx of choice but it's all I have and it's all in there if you turn enough knobs.
I play it direct into a Tascam dp-008 porta studio and then mix the tracks into Audacity out to mp3.
That's how I record everything.the recorder even has little built in mics for the acoustic stuff.
And I do have to work extra, extra hard to get rid of the hum :)
I think Bill hit the nail on the head when he said your guitar work is similar to Jeff Beck. Damn, there is a ton of talent in those hands. You don't get tone like that from anything other than hard work and dedication.
This is a fabulous piece, sung well, and played even better. Congratulations on a wonderful collaboration.
Thank you SBM,I appreciate that complement!Reviews like yours are encouraging...I'm always searching and questioning the guitar tones so it does mean a lot to have these comments!
Sick collab man, the singing, the guitar, the production man everything is nice. You guys honestly sound like you should be in a band on stage somewhere. Once again, great collab my man.
Chris, thank you so much!Actually I just played with Tacatta's acapella.
Hey,check out Kikajons page if you like Tacattas vocals..we have been doing a lot of songs there and Kikajon is playing guitar, writing and producing..it's very much a collab between the three of us and very rewarding.
Thanks again for your review.
I think that character of your guitar tones really complimented the character of the vocalist. Been away from looperman for a bit but i'm glad i've made the effort to come back and cruse around.
Hello jc and thanks for the comment.I hope to complement the collabs I'm involved with...I try to put the song itself first...even if it's just a few notes or chords I end up playing.
Thanks again for the review!
Hi Allen, Spot on track man!! I love your guitar playing and your tone on this one is to die for... Will be back for more soon that's for certain..
Cheers, Slap...
Hey Slap..Thanks for stoppin by...I get lucky with tone sometimes!
Workin' on the guitar at the moment and hoping I don't have to over pay someone to tell me where the green wire goes...lol.
Thanks again!
Hi Allen thank you for review greatly appreciated been listening to a lot of your tracks they are awesome my brother Looperman lets all of us.... be it thousands of miles away from each other to connect on a level that we all understand, would love to collab with you and my new local mate :) spelljammer .
Take care
keep on groovin
Greg (wanna funk)
Thank you Greg, seems like we have a lot in common musically and yes,It's amazing how the internet has brought so many dreams to reality...simply awesome!
I know musicians five miles from me but I would rather play with the people I've met here...go figure...lol
Thank you Mr Strawberry! You know where I live,Plant City Fl., it's called the strawberry capital...We do grow a lot of them here. Thanks again for listening!
as a guitar novice, I bow before the master! been a fan since I listened to your collab with SpellJammer "Time For Change" which is still my fave track. incidentally SpellJammer asked me to write lyrics for that particular track. as a poet, it is a great honour to do something for such a masterpiece.
This one is a masterpiece too, simple yet very strong emotionally. it gets its depth in the simplicity. The guitar sounds are just awesome!
Thank you very much Vuduchylde! Those are great complements and I appreciate them.SpellJammer and I are finishing up a new track,it should be done by the weekend...he has quite a talent and so does Tacatta with these vocals. That's one of the important lessons my friend that you probably already know...Surround yourself with great talent and you will play and sound better. These guys make me look good and bring out my best!
I'm gonna check out your music.
Thanks again for the kind words!
Wow what a cool collab guys. Pure emotion and feel to this one for sure. Allen I love those guitar phrasings...indeed I heard some Hendrix, but I also heard some early Eddie Van Halen chords in there..and essence of Jeff Beck. The vocals of Tecatta and your voice on guitar were a superb meld of heart & soul. A true classic fellas ! - Bilbozo
Hey Bill, thanks for having a listen!yea,I've kinda' stopped fighting against those influences and am just having fun and playing what I feel fits...at the very least it doesn't sound forced that way.
Oh,did Joseph survive his birthday bash:)
Thanks again Bill,I appreciate your comments.
This is great stuff. Nice tonality and just a hint of Hendrix influence. Vocals are great. I wanted it to go on longer and have a killer hook and solo. However the guitar was brilliant and the vocals engaging. Again, really great.
Hey Charlie!I knew you would hear those chords and know where I was coming from.
I felt the same way about a hook while I was recording to his vocal...I did want to add more but I have a feeling this is just the beginning and check out Kikajon's page here on the loop,we have more tunes up with the three of us,The Transatlantic Experience.
Thanks for the review Charlie.
Mate you had me hooked right from the start, even before the vocal kicked in, brilliance on the guitar once again, so expressive the guitar fitting the vocal to a picture, as though both were meant for each other, absolutely stunning matey...instant fav here...Peace n Massive Respect MrV...Estefano...
Thanks Estefano,I am inspired by the talent I hear on looperman and Tacatta is a special inspiration for me.This site has been a blessing along with collaborating,it takes me places I might not ordinarily go musicaly and I'm grateful.
Thanks Numberjack,I've been playing since I was 10yrs old,my grandfather taught me basic chords so I do have to credit learning at a young age...and I've been through a lot of music since then!
Thanks again for listening and commenting.
I love this man, everything about it is genius, the vocals really complete the package. The guitars are exactly what I expect when I listen to one of your tracks. You truly are a gifted musician and I love listening to your songs. I really like the tone of your guitar as well, what kind of effects do you have on it to get that sound? Anyway great track leaves me wanting more, Keep it up.
Hey Kyle, thanks for stopping by!I always appreciate your kind reviews. You know we'll have to try something together sometime.
I have to work constantly on tone and use probably the least preferred multi fx pedal, the Zoom g21u.I spend a lot of time turning knobs.
This is a distortion setting with stereo chorus and ping pong delay,It's a easy setting but I have to control the gain with my guitar volume knob so it doesn't get too dirty, which is hard with this pedal because it works best at full gain,it doesn't roll back like a tube amp,you can hear the guitar trying to "Fuzz" out.I tried my amp but there was too much noise and I do love the stereo fx from the pedal.I know I should control everything from the computer but i'm too old school,I even record on a external recorder and use the puter just for loops.Oh..I also use a combination of pick and fingers like with the acoustic,it's a little easier to control the gain that way.
I think all Tacatta does is open his mouth:)
you guitar playing is so expressive, its like emotion translated to music. As others have said here a beautiful piece of music!
And thanx Allen for for your kind words.
Thanks for your voice Jim,I couldn't have asked for a nicer vocal...Oh,I let the emotion in your vocal lead the way and the guitar was done in 30min after I got the tone that I thought would work, that takes longer than playing it!
Thanks again!
I like the simplicity of this track, couple nicely played guitar tracks and a strong vocal track. Perfect! Nicely put together, great mix, you guys are awesome!!
Hey thanks Wayne!Just loaded up his vocal and played a bit.The nice thing about Jim's voice is that it doesn't need any fx to sound good...all he has to do is sing and that is impressive.
Take care!
Allen

Description : This is my newest creation, at a stage very near to completion. No third-party mastering or mixing, as with all my tracks. Just have to fix a few tiny things. I FINALLY WAS ABLE TO MIX EVERYTHING IN THE SAME SESSION. This song has all human-played instruments - no quantization or MIDI! My brother does all the vocals except for the interlude part, which I do. My other brother plays the rhythm guitar (a Gibson Les Paul Custom - only one of 12 in the world!!) and I play the accompanying guitar (a Johnny Mar Jag and PRS). He has a lot of guitars :P A good friend of ours, Ronnie, plays the bass and another friend, Freddie, plays the drums. The drum track was done in one take (had to use an electric drum set due to time constraints - but acoustic kits are so much better). Overall, pretty satisfied with the result. Let me know your thoughts.
Description : Feel free to check out the lyrics video on YT as well :) This is a new track based on the great vocals by Ashes and Dreams! Again, a mix of electronic/progressive/rock, any feedback is welcome
Description : The first track I sing on. Cheap stage mic & no fancy plugins. Heavily guitar laden to the point it's got a bit of a shoegaze thing going on. I pulled the lyrics out of my ass & yes, they're a bit silly.
Description : BIG UPDATE 26/02/2014 - So, this was an 18 min track that I have now successfully split in two. 2nd half I uploaded a few weeks ago (Things That Should Always Be, with the bouncy 2 min reggae intro). This is the first half, which has a new mix, a mega chill, meditative ending and a little jazz thrown in for good measure. Takes a few minutes for beat to really kick in. Constantly evolving electric guitar, bass guitar, acoustic drums and lead banjo driven by fat, busy 80BPM grooves with a bit of a reggae and shuffle feel. Also: synth choir voices, dulcimer, violin, cello, shimmering pads. Builds up gradually to nice and rocking and then gets taken back down for the big comedown chill. I really don't know what sort of genre this is except 'far out'. I think it sounds more like a live band than one guy playing instruments and manipulating a DAW. Not my best track but a bit of blissful, sunny island fun. Real positive vibe here so I hope you give it a chance to unfold and unfurl. Sit back, clear your schedule and immerse yourself in these trippy sonic experiments cooked up deep in my off-planet underground laboratory. I have to send the MP3 to Earth via space courier (not cheap).
Description : This track was like the inhale after an exhale of aggressive industrial-electro-sludge tracks that I had put out that summer and fall. This was the more reserved, and introspective winter track. It's nothing spectacular, but I still really enjoy it. I hope you do too. Take care. V.
Description : when i was a kid you could go down and buy acid drops at the dairy - sour boiled sweets....vox, guitars and keys by me. Bass a LM loop by megapaul.
