I really dig this bass. I used as a lead synth in one of the tracks I am currently working on. I went in and chopped it up, put an X-Trem on it and divided it up into six different tracks... Here is a link to what it sounds like. The track is far from finished. I just wanted to give credit where credit was due ;)

combined with most other sounds it goes into the red, any suggestions on how to stop this?

Mix it properly so that all the level don't sit on the red, it's okay for it to go there every now and again though (This is what i'd recommend). You could however just slam a limiter on the overall track (the output track or something similar) and that will level out all the volumes but make the quality worse. Try both, see which works better otherwise I can't help you, sorry dude.
