Pretty good. it's very original sounding I can definitely tell you that. It's not like any other trap, that's for sure.
I think some synths in here sound a bit too bright for me, like the first breakdown, I think there could be a nice echo-y synth playing over everything. That could definitely complete a really awesome drop! Overall, I give this a 6/10, unless you can make a real awesome drop, than it's 8/10!
Cool, thanks for the genre suggestion. I see how his music is different and mine isnt quite as dark, but I was planning on making similar music once I get better as a producer and get some real software, i love his music!
Sup Gnasty, I have to say I really love all your work to this point, its amazing and unique!
Second, please dont listen to nonames like centralsdev, they dont know anything about music roduction, hit me up if you wanna now anything in particular. c:
Hey thanks man, that means a lot! I have showed a few friends my tracks but mostly its just me listening to them and I start to lose the ability to judge good or bad, I appreciate the feedback
I'm no expert on the subject, but compression levels the sounds, quiets the louder ones by squashing them and boosts the quieter ones. That's how you get a brickwall of sound. I use it very sparingly because I like to maintain the dynamic range through the track. That's the volume level from the softest to loudest notes. There's no set formula for mixing, just what sounds good to you. EQ is simply a more precise fader control for adjusting the volumes of frequencies. I think if you back off on the compressor, turn down the volumes of the individual tracks so they don't clip, that'll show in you meter as red, going over 0db, that will fix the distortion you hear. Cool track :p Keep experimenting, that's how we all learn :D
I havent used any compression, but I also have a somewhat basic DAW so it might do it automatically. Ill try changing the track levels, thanks for the advice!
snare louder than kick as it normal have alot of bass. but you could try play around with each sound if you still working on this or if you only have this you should make a new projkt and then use master and the track it self to control the sound, by adding reverb and other sound effect. mostly music is by listen, so i cant say much as i dont have the track.
Thanks a lot man! Do you have any basic tips on volume control? I know that instrument volume levels need to be adjusted but should bass be louder? or kick louder than snare?
I experience the same kind of thing.
I do everything on headphones.
I then put on a disc and go for a late night drive and listen to it in the car .... it sounds nothing like I expected but it has given me valuable information to go home with.
All the different instruments sounds tracks cannot ever all be at the same volume or it sounds pooh.
It's a brash jangle or a muted mess.
The volumes and the pan (position) should vary throughout the track never staying the same. Sometimes subtley sometimes not so.
Get me sounding like the expert ... I'm not I just do this stuff as my number oner one hobby.
It's a big learning curve for sure.
I'm playing about with loops and VST'S mostly.
Thanks a bunch for the explanation, I am pretty clueless still as far as mastering tracks goes, ill do some research online to learn more about balancing tracks. Thanks again!
It might be me because ... this is the second track I've had a listen to in the last fifteen minutes and the volume seems all wrong.
The levels know what I mean?
It could well be me though.
i kinda know what you mean, it sounds a lot different in my car than in my headphones even though my car has a subwoofer. I am really new to producing and I have heard about mismatched levels before but i dont quite know what it means or how to fix it. Is anything in particular too high or too low? Thanks for the comment by the way, i appreciate it
thank you very much, your feedback means a lot! I just checked out The Darkside of One self, i like the synths and synth effects. The panning is a great addition
Hey what's up bro...trap is really not my thing but I gotta say you have a lot of interesting elements going on here.I would find some vocals to go with the track and just throw them in the mix to make sure you have some space for then to sit.Good job on the track
Thanks for listening bro and I really appreciate the feedback! You're right, some more vocals would help, and there are actually some verses from the original song that I haven't used yet, I'll throw them in somewhere. Any suggestions on what part? do you think I should extend the song, making a new section for the new vocals or should i put them in an existing space?
lot of sounds around. they sounded good but i had used the vocals a bit less sometimes. It ends a bit like there should start the second, the bad ass hard core, part :)
like Timmy sayed, don´t listen to centralsdev, he didn´t know where he is talking about.
first of all thanks for commenting, I really appreciate the feedback. I knew the vocal was overused but i didnt know where to take it out, so i took your advice and it sounds a lot better! thanks a lot bro
Thanks man! Optimally, I would have a little more FX in there but I just started producing and havent got the hang of it yet. Also my software isnt great and I have to edit piece by piece, but I am saving up for something better like FL 12
Cool grooves not over done, a spit track wooould help ones you
get that, then it will be easy to place adds...
A guitar or bass would work in this case, but it's got to have taste...
Sorry, I'm pretty new to the production game, what is a spit track? and Adds?
Thanks for listening and thanks a bunch for giving feedback, I really appreciate it!
so i have been listen to your tracks and i end at i most as well have a mpc, but you shouldnt hav your track that deep. but other that you should take advantage of its opportunities i didnt feel you used it full.
Thanks for your reply and the feedback, im still getting the hang of this MPC and I still don't know how to use most of the features. Hopefully ill post something more well-rounded in the future. And yeah, I thought the bass might be too deep but wasn't sure whether to change it or not. Jam on brotha!
