I think this is one of your best. No one point to praise, its just good all around. When's the album release? Got Reading in your sights?

*(Reading, UK - There is an annual festival ... its a pair actually - Reading and Leeds. Sometimes some good music, sometimes, 50Cent... Not sure who picks the groups, but its been pretty consistent with the Metal appearances over the years.)* Seems Metal is on its way back to the masses.)*

Hi Alkie,

Nice job on this tune. Has an Eastern flavor to it at the beginning.

Then nice sounding guitar comes into play. Nice use of loops and putting them together. I guess a lead part would really fill it all in. And vocals would be the icing on the cake.

Well done,

Randy

Hi Alkie,
Wanted to get a couple reviews in here of your tunes as you did a couple of mine recently.

I like the vocals as you have a nice voice. I think the voice could be brought out to the front more, and the easiest way to do that is lessen the reverb some.
I like the music as well and think the song was well written overall.

Hi Randy thanks for listening, i had a newer version of Drean Theater`s Wait for Sleep that i just uploaded today, since your reveiw reminded me that i hadn`t updated the track thanks again.Vocals are much more up front in this new version but i got some room hiss from layering my vox, hopefully i`ll pick up Izotope`s RX soon to fix that.

It's strange how people can use the same tracks and come up with totally different songs. Great track there!
Makes me want to do more to mine...hehe

Wow, cool track. I'm lovin' how this one morphs into the guitar treat it is in the middle... I kinda had a native american vibe at the beginning, almost as if I was in the wild, perched up on a mountain with an old indain chief wearing big head dress feathers -he keeps passing me the payote... I ask him about the meaning of life, and he begins to talk in hand motions and beating a drum, I look on confused but then the payote kicks in, and among the many passing colors I see a floating Rei4real who starts jammin on his guitar....umm, sorry... the song. Love it, and you can never go wrong with loops from Rei, they are always so clear and defined easily used in any kind of track. I can't say enough about his stuff. I really like your structure of this track, change ups and breaks to keep it an interesting listen. The opening is very cool and blends well into the rest of the more guitar rockie track. Very nice work. peace.

cheers Kookdaloop, glad you got lost in the landscape of the song, Rei is great at what he does isn`t he.

on Wait for Sleep by alkie
hey, you got a real good voice!!!
and the song is awesome too ...
though I would reduce the short delay a little bit ... sometimes the sound gets too sharp (especially the vocals when you use a word with an "s"), and that's a sign that reverb and delay are set too high ...
but that's a technical thing ... the song is absolutely great, top composition and arrangement!!
love it ...

peace, rei
alkie
alkie replied Unknown
thanks rei, the composition and arrangement are all down to Dream Theater it`s their song. The piano was done by a guy on you-tube and i added the vocals. As for the delay and reverb. I have it set to my normal 50 milliseconds and my plate reverb is only on at 1% mix, the vocals were recorded 3 times once in stereo which i left center and recorded right mono and left mono, which i panned each 60% opposite with my delay on the left. If i redoe this in the future i keep in mind what you said....... thanks again.

G'day mate, good track , nice sounds and groove...drums sound great. Is that you playing guitar or a sample? As an experienced guitarist I found the guitar part somewhat repetitive, needs a change to get away from that main riff.It also didn't really build up to any sort of ending.Certainly a vocal melody line could be the difference between ok and great. All in all, nice work and good sound quality.Peace and goodwill
alkie
alkie replied Unknown
I play the telecaster part on my keys with my Ministry of Rock program. I feel your right about the melody line, a friend of mine is writing one for it and then i`ll add vocals to it.Thanks again for taking the time to listen. Cheers

hey man!!!
that's cool stuff ... I really like it!!!
a lead melody would be good, or in other words: I would like to hear more of your guitar playing ... ;-)
the beat is a very cool one, I like your work with the snare, sounds almost like played real, and the intro is awesome!!
good work!! and thank you ...

cheers and thanks rei, i`m glad you liked it, if i can figure out a lead melody line i`ll add it but mainly i wanna come up with a nice vocal to flow with it , thanks again this track wouldn`t have been possible without your excellent acoustic loops.

Awesome..
Wow, yah john can jam.

You did the drums then?? Fricking awesome drums!!!
Bass was awesome..

Dynamic Compression was a bit much for me... But it doesn't stain the track..
AT 1:55ish the compression begins to help your track, but before that, less compression... But I know how you feel.. I cannot master a f*cking distorted guitar for the life of me.
and I am a metal head.

Really dug it.

alkie replied Unknown
cheers avidlife, actually the only thing i did was put this together, the drums are from Addictive Drums and the Bass and Rhythm Guitar parts are from Raw 2, I`m hoping to one day do the vocals for this track. I`m doing a course from MusicianUniversity.com right now on mixing and mastering so hopefully i`ll be able to add life to this track in a few months, thanks again for listening and favouriting it.

very nice work here dude...the song kind of sounds to me a bit like Dream Theater's Sacrificed Sons, specially because of the speech on top of the music, and it's got a bit of a prog feel to it. Very nice editing work fellow! i never noticed a single chop or wrong sounding transition! congratulations
