-change up the drums more to keep people interested
-the song for all its worth needs more attitude, sharper maybe.. kinda in your face.

I'm kinda new to this site so maybe i'm wrong, i'm just trying to help. I do like the track though for what it is so far.

I agree on the drums, at the moment they are my metronome. I'll do them last just b/c I care more about the other parts primarily. I'm not sure where to get the attitude from. These are my 'idea' tracks as far as the guitar goes and I know they could do with a revamp. I think the drums could really kick it up a notch in that department.

Thanks for the input

NICE! THe sounds are all so well selected/mixed together. I tried forever to get some people to gether to jam with, and could never get anybody on the same page, bandwise...so I just do everything myself now and I don't worry about if someone can't be there, or if all they want to do is get drunk. My DAW always makes it to practice and never gets too high!

Thanks for the shout. Ya it's nice to rely on your self, but I still need that group interaction and love jamming with people. There is something great about dealing with all aspects of a composition and seeing it through to the end though.

It's great, especially if it's your first. I'm still trying to learn this computer stuff...I'm used to having to play everything out. The guitar is shredding and fits like a glove, and I'm partial to any good piano. Bravo, excellent job...now you need a followup LOL. Much love, I really enjoyed this!

I'm trying, the one I'm working on now is slow coming. Busy time, getting married and moving is taking up some time but it's coming as soon as I can. Thanks for the nudge though!

Well I appear late in saying it but that track was awesome my friend. If that is your first attempt I await the second one on edge. I love a guitar jamming to the blues it just feels right.Homemade comp speaker talkbox?? That is way too cool.

Jeff05C replied Unknown
Ha ha, ya well I await the second song as well, it seems it's a very slow work in progress, People seem to be able to pump the tracks out so fast but not I. Oh well as long as I'm happy with it when I'm done it. Thanks for the review and your kind words. I"ll get on that other track soon! Thx

This is an excellent track - I really like the talk box at the end. I find the mix of instruments was just right. Someone else suggested adding some horns in the mix, but I think it's just right as is.

Thanks for the note, I really enjoyed the one track I've listened to of yours (so far), it's great to get a compliment from and artist you appreciate. The talk box is so much fun. It cost me $2.60 to build that thing and it is one of my favorite fx right now.
Thx

Thanks for the input, I appreciate it. I'm thinking I might pull this one back out and make a few changes. I definitely got some knowledge out of making this and it was good practice, now I'm thinking I may have enough to work with to make it more interesting.

I understand that you recorded this as a test track for your mix skills..
so the one thing that was missing here is not important and that is a some change in the track..
other than that, great great playing man ! keep up the good work, i'm impressed ! great sound as well..
sounds like a single coil pickups guitar.. isn't it?
anyway, I really enjoyed listening (few times), thanks!
Jeff05C
Jeff05C replied Unknown
hey, thanks for the input. As for the single coil Q, I have humbuckers but I can split it into single coil, and your right that's what I used, set even between bridge and neck positions. Thanks for the kind words, I take them to heart after listening to some of your playing.

firt your back track is great, sounds like you have a real band behind you and it is not an easy thing to do, this is a great first stab at it, just keep working on it be patient take the time, but you know what you're doing, practice practice practive, and your loops will sound better and better, as for you guitar jam you a got great groove that flows all through the tune, me I like the sound of your guitar all through real live feel, this sounds like a big jam session, please jam on my tunes anytime. I'll be posting a couple of slower blues let me know what you think, great to hear music from my second favorite province after mine, lived in Fernie B.C. a long time ago (before you were born) great province but more great people. Take care Hey.

Hey bud,
Thanks for taking the time to listen and review. Well first off it's a sunny day here, so I hope you folks aren't to cold out there. Thanks for putting your thoughts down on the track, I'm currently working on a couple others, I like it to sound like live instruments, or at least jammy, but your right, it's not always easy! I'd like to jam on some of your tracks that would be cool. I'll have a browse and see what catches my ear. Or if there is a certain one you'd like just let me know.
cheers!

Hi wookie,

Well, looks like you only have 1 track for me to review.

First off, I think it all sounds really good. The guitar sound is very nice. The fuzz part tho is pretty thin...unless that is the sound you wanted to hear.
The piano part lends itself into the mix nicely.
Other than this and allowing some natural drums breaks, you did a nice job. I like it.

Jeff05C replied Unknown
Hi Randy, Thanks for the comment. I totally agree, especially about the this fuzz sound. I was just fooling around and didn't take the time to actually use my ears until I was in too deep. Oh well, lesson learned. I agree about the breaks etc, but this is just a track for me to get acid figured out, and how to capture and edit things in a way that will give me decent quality, so I think it has served most of it's purpose. I had a blast doing it but I do cringe a little bit when the fuzz comes in. Maybe I'll re record it one day with some fat a$$ tone.

Thanks

I lovvvve the blues, and I can pick up all those sweet riffs youve been using! Did you use an overdrive pedal at one point near teh first quater of the song? i like it , got a nice sound! the piano goes along really well with the guitar as well! I think maybe moving up the fretboard a bit with your licks would of added a bit more vareity? but who am i to judge really. and i like the wah sound, really got it goin well! wow and its home-made, nice!

Hi, Thanks for the feedback!
I used a Ibanez Tube King on the second lead section (where you can hear it go from one tone to another) and it was going through my V-amp 2 which I'm still figuring out. The tube king is amazing though, there is nothing it doesn't seem to do well, and I don't mean only blues. Thanks for the input and the tips, always glad to get some recommendations.

Thanks

Wookie,
I think you did an excellent job arranging the guitars.
As for finding your way around Acid, you seem to have a grasp on what it takes. The track moves thanks to the guitars. I also have a few tracks where I use a single drum loop to build the progression or simply to jam with. Sometimes that makes the final master. However my best works usually demand a focus on the drums. Take the suggestion of bchris and try detailing the drums. Maybe even try this on your next project if not this blues track. Another point to watch for is the tempo of the original loop placed in a song tempo that is cause for a bit of flutter. Some instruments can pull it off without a problem, others stand out. Perhaps try a fade out at the end. In conclusion I am indeed impressed with the spirit of this arrangement. Your creative expression and desire are quite apparent. Looking forward to many more Wookie works.

Thanks a lot,
hey, I really appreciate the time taken to put down your thoughts here. Still fiddling with all these pieces and trying to get the great sound I hear on so many tracks (and in my head). The mixing/mastering is big time learning in progress, I did go back and change a few levels and tweak some of the panning. I probably won't upload it, but the help is helping ;^) Every ones comments are giving me a new perspective, and fresh ears.

Cheers, look forward to checking some of your tracks.

To be perfectly honest I find the whole journey into techno-computer-land very tiresome when all I want to do is plug in and make music as the moment happens. To me, this is an excellent track where your blues guitar and that piano are making it happen. The quality of the sound and how to improve it ? sorry, I can't help you there but I do like the quality of the musicianship I can hear. Great Track !!
Jeff05C
Jeff05C replied Unknown
Thanks a lot! Yea I'm not in to the techno-computer land either (or wasn't) but it is opening my mind to other creative possibilities. If nothing else to have some extra sets of ears to go "by the way bud your cymbals are too loud" or what ever
