I like this, it's gritty. Nice heavy, heavy drums. Great raw feel to it. Were the vocals added after, or were they the inspiration?
bobbybooth
bobbybooth replied Unknown
added after mate. Although i have liked his style for a while, just looking for something to fit. Its not a spot on fit unfortunately - i think it could be better. Plus its not very long, but nevermind!

id love you to mate. I want some raw vocals over it, im sure you would do a great job. If you do decide, could you do an acapella too, because i would like to fix a few things in the track too.
cheers!!

this reminds me of early 80's electro kinda like the things they were doing when the synthesizers first became available ...nice .. I love a retro track... keep 'em coming brother
bobbybooth
bobbybooth replied Unknown
Thanks Dude. Was going for an old synth kinda sound, like OMD or something. Glad you liked"!

Liked this JB. Reminds me of a more ambient Substance era New Order. Have a listen to their track Thieves Like US on Youtube. Either the original or the instrumental version. I think you'll see where I'm coming from. Was'nt overly keen on the change in direction half way through. Maybe that's just me?

edit - sorry ur not jb, ur bb!

bobbybooth replied Unknown
Jesus - you are right. That intro is very reminiscent. i love new order so thats a great compliment. Thanks man!

on watermark instrumental -Looking for Collaboration by bobbybooth
So downloaded. I love the raw gritty sound it has. It almost feels like an analog recording which is just super tight. I also like where it touches on almost DnB. I don't just download or fav anything, but this one is definitely a keeper... Has anyone gotten back to you on vocals yet? If not I might be tempted to join the party...

hey man. Glad you enjoyed. Im not exactly happy with it, but i think its one of my favourites.

Dude if you can do vocals, please do!

on Time - Gil Scott Heron Tribute by bobbybooth
I really, really like this track. Excellent use of the vocals and the pads/synths are smooth. A great combination of funk and the more abtract side of hip-hop [sort of reminded me of Hudson Mohawke]. My one tiny complaint would be that I wish the drums were a little louder. I imagine it was probably a hassle mastering this with the different sounds and vocals, but the drums seem to be drowned out at certain points. Other than that, this is just perfect.

Thanks mate. Thats a hot review, and i appreciate. ill see what i can do about the beats to bring them forward a bit more.

Play 2 now...

First thing I've gotta suggest is working on that odd different sounding (seems like it cuts off too soon).
Hmm, vocal-wise I had an idea. Go n see if DJAerith still has their choral desert wailing acapellas up (layer 1 to accentuate the light n airy pads you've got going now). Next, I'm thinkin it'd be killer if you could find an acapella of someone who sounds like Seal (thinking of something like his song Crazy here). Picture something in the stylings of Sting's Desert Rose (but with more grit & soul) and you'll be dead-on.
Melody-wise, I think you're pretty solid. Can't really think of anything that would compliment it. Beyond maybe an additional layer of bass (shrugs). Anyways, killer tune mate. Lates!

Thanks D, much appreciation for your always constructive and helpful reviews. Id love to find a good vocal for it - still looking unfortunately.I have gone for a review of the old mix and i have changed the hats in the break a bit. Hopefully this will give it a cleaner sound for now.

cheers!

Play 2 now...

Just be sure that you don't take too much of it (might make ya sick, har har). Pretty solid groove mate, with or without the vocal stuffs (could go either way IMO). The only thing I could think to suggest here is to throw in some more bridges (kinda like short 10 second lulls in the vox, serving to accentuate the different emotions of his delivery, ya know). Beyond that, nicely done mate. Lates!
bobbybooth
bobbybooth replied Unknown
Yo. Thanks dude. I just wish the vocal samples were better quality, cos i do like that build up with the tension of the tune. Thanks for the review, ill take that on board and see what can be done!

The nintendo glitch songs are in and i'm liking this one. The breaks with the scratching really add some depth to it. Keep on beat making

The track is great and the production is excellent. The only thing I would suggest is fixing the ending (unless of course you meant it to be that way for some reason).

I'll be back to check out more in the next while.

Thanks Mate. Much appreciated. yes - the ending is not what its supposed to be. I was messing around with that riff and left it in at the end. I need to get round to fixing it!

sax is nice, wish you could make it more in the foreground and make it louder, the beat is insane, wouldnt call that jazz really but love it and the bass is great

Thanks man. Big love for reviewing this one. I still enjoy its crazy beats. Ill see what i can do about the sax, might be able to bring that through a bit louder.

on You by bobbybooth
Really like what you've done with the vocals, it's leading the first part of the track nicely. Nice build up and breaks, and that bass is sick, very sci-fi sounding.

The blending of the bass and the voices is kinda haunting and hypnotizing, really like that mood. And the drumline is exactly what it needs to drive through the whole track.

Great job thanks for sharing!

Definately got the spacey/trippy vibe to it. I can hear bits of R&B and with the synthy voice reminds me a little of Herbie Hancock. It's probably got 109786 styles in there but one thing for sure it's definately your style and works very well. Not sure what you can add/change as to my ears it's pretty much a complete work. Addictive listening, thing is I'm sssoo busy but I would like to listen to this when in Chilled mood. Mucho Likeo.

that sax is so smooth and laid back, i would expect to hear drums played with brushes. the drums are interesting and add a feeling of constant motion. the bass switch up gives this song even more life. really good song bobby, im lucky this showed up as the featured track.

on I dont know what he is by bobbybooth
Wow Man. I mean it. I dig this track. I know what you mean about it needing some vocals. perhaps a sample of some old British woman/man saying "I don't know what he is" and maybe some other choice phrases. for example the Quest for the Holy Grail's "Runaway". scratch those a bit as a melody maybe add some raps from fellow looperpeople and you got yourself a fine track. I dig the scream.
NOICE WORK!!!

on Take It. by bobbybooth
what i love about this track is that it's sparkling with emotions and passion (with all those 8-bit 80's synths and bass sound it's not as easy as it may sound). Kind of tracks I love Looperman for - unpredictable and touchy. I especially liked the last 40 seconds - they're just perfect!

Thanks buddy. this is an old one. Unfortunately the vocal samples arent what they could be. i tried to remaster it once now i have a better sense of what i am doing, and it didnt sound good!

Thanks for the review, cos i still really like this one!
