I would like to learn from you some basic mastering. I think you have a good grasp of it, given the quality of this production. Not just the loudness, but the balance also. Beautiful work.

I'm not that experienced but thank you Dan that means a lot - I've been working on my mixing skills but still a huge amount to learn! Some of the techniques I've used are double tracking the vocals and pan slightly left and right and use EQ to cut out the unwanted frequencies on every channel. For mastering I use eMastering.com gives pretty decent results for us amateurs lol

I'm generally not into the more mellow, atmospheric type music. But, this was good. It gained, and kept my attention from beginning to end, and there were no mixing elements that stood out as needing adjustment. You clearly put some time and attention into this, and it definitely shows.

This is really fine composition. Orchestration is excellent as is the mix. Swirly atmospherics and the various instruments that weave in and out provide a very emotional setting for the vocal. Vocal is set really nicely in the mix. Not too prominent, but not buried either. I really liked the way the vocal faded out before the instrumental backing did at the end. Very nice touch.

I wasn't aware of the Oliver Patrice Weder VST from Spitfire Audio, but just checked it out. It looks like amazing value for only $29 US. Thanks for including info on the VSTs and samples you used. That was interesting/helpful info.

Anyway, very impressive work!

Many thanks for your feedback. Yes I spent quite a while tweaking the vocal chop levels especially at the end where it gets progressively softer. I agree the OPW plugin is amazing value for the interesting sound textures you can create. Check out Oliver's work on Soundcloud - you'll enjoy it! Also check out all the Spitfire LABS instruments which are all 100% FREE! I created my cover of OMD's Souvenir using only these free plugins.
