Very nice remix, you may worked and still work hard on this track :D just give me a idea what was your work in this tune I checked the original verson and you completly change the genre so Bravo !!!
Thankfully there wasn't really much in the way of instruments in the original, otherwise this remix wouldn't have been possible.. Although the original is very good, I actually prefer my version now haha!
I know what you mean, I also find the bass a bit difficult.
Nevertheless, I really like this. The pad sound at the beginning really works with the piano, and the vocals have been matched perfectly. If I was to be really picky, and I mean really picky, I would say use some more hi hats to fill some of the bits between the existing cymbals.
This is cool! I love the subtle guitar sounding accents in there! Some of those synths are a bit on the tired side for me, but they do sound nice and professional. This definitely has many elements which I've come to know of your signature style, and I look forward to hearing the finished product. Nice one!
I can tell you know what you're doing. A ton of great ideas. Maybe if you had used a different drum-kit though (just to modernise the whole piece). And maybe a smooth bassline instead of the saw. Again, it is very good. Just perhaps your sound selection could make it even better! Keep it up. Excellent start for your hip-hop career, lol!
really nice track man. The vocals might be out of the note sometimes, but it's ok. I really like your arrengement regarding the intro progression, the rimshots are so dope.
Great work and I'm looking forward to listen more of you :)
hey, this is probably first time when I comment on a trap song here. Anyway the vocal part keeps my attention throughout. Good bassline corresponding with vocals (they sound Beyonce-like). But on my system any bass-line can possibly fit the same upper structure and vice-versa so I do not know if it's useful:(
The only 'problem' I noticed is that the simplicity of your arrangement is owerpowered by vocals. My personal preference is to have much simple vocals here. That's why I preffered your 'Heartbroken' to the radio version (your version contains vocals sounding much more 'natural' to me). I made some instrumental arrangement around the acapella last week (different genre of course) but I always find a bit artificial and tricky working this way. So maybe you could try simply an other electronic feel on this acapella or just leave it and move to the next track? You can always try to play different chords along the pella.
hi, I really like your version - its wide and transparent. nice piano fade-in. the drum fill (3:23) sounds also very nice like this. The strings, brass and woodwinds are pretty much 'one' at the end without preffering any particular section which is good. Overall very nice work!
Alex
hi again, there's some really cool bassline in the original one indeed but I preffer your slower version cause it has this nice chill keys, some fine pads and lot of space. the vocals are also better at a normal speed... It happens! Great track. Alex
hi, really nice sounds and very smooth production. I do not know the original one but this song is very good: really chill and kind of funky indeed... Simply nice work. Alex
Thanks for your kind words.. the original was a huge hit here in the UK 7 years ago. This one track made a whole new genre called 'Bassline' popular at the time. If you get a chance you should listen to it - T2 ft Jodie - Heartbroken :)
How could I overlooked this one before...I think you set up the standard very high for the others on this one. I can just hear how carefully you approached to the job...everything is so well balanced and neatly done...Excellent effort!:)
Thanks for your kind words.. the standard is very high for this competition so if I want to win anything I will have to go back to this and try again. Hopefully I find time in the next day or two..
hi WongKiShoo,
this is very cool old-styled electronic. Definitely reminds me of some 80's music... drums, 'detuned' synth lead (0:50), reverb added to the backing vocals... - this is very 'retro'.
I do not know the original song but for sure can appreciate your work here. Very nicely done. I had great time listening to this one!
Greetings,
Alex
I quite like the retro sound in this :D .. the snappy snare that sits back in the mix particularly. The original is a great song and mine doesn't really compare to it.. so maybe it's a good thing you don't know the original ;)
Thanks for your comment. I work a lot with house music and reverse reverb is a very common way of introducing new sounds into the mix - it is pretty cool trick though huh? :D
The drum intro that you hear on the 3rd part was a mistake of mine. I got lazy in some parts and applied a high pass filter to the mixer track and filtered out things I shouldn't have - I didn't realise until I listened to other people's mixes lol.
I think I will go back and start again on the whole thing and this time be more adventurous :)
George, man this is soooooo nice. Crispy, crispy mix, with a fantastic bottom end. Loved the way you panned the intro. I can hear all of the instruments really well, and that's the key to a great mix. I think you cleaned up the timing issues fairly well. The percussion really sounds sharp, and I think the reason for that is your vast experience working with house music.
I really enjoyed your interpretation. I am downloading as we speak, and when all of the entries are in, I am going to make a CD of them and put them in my car's audio system for the ultimate test. You are a true pro my friend. Outstanding effort. Thanks for participating. I hope all is well.
I just wanna say thanks for putting this comp up in the first place.. I had to go out of my way to learn how to do certain things and as a result I'm now far more conscious about mixing in mono/stereo and more comfortable using the plugins I have at my disposal! :D
This is pretty nice to my ears! The prominence of the effects is a nice touch. Also you achieved a good potent bass tone. Definitely different from the two earlier mixes I've listened to so far. It felt like the timing got cluttered in the middle, but it slowly resolved and became quite groovy. Overall, a nicely balanced mix which is enjoyable to hear!

Great suggestion! Some closed hats are what I need, can't believe I didn't think of that already lol
Thanks a lot for commenting mate, I'll return the favour soon :)

You know what, I've actually been thinking the same thing about those synths (especially the pad) so I'm really glad you mentioned it!
The guitar you hear is from a Kontakt instrument called Evolution Electric Guitar Strawberry,... some great sounds in there.
Thanks for stopping by :)

You done the best incomming of the synt at the beginning!
That is realy cool and i am not sure what i will do now :)
You asked for any probs in the mix - for my opinion, this intro drums to the 3.rd part are much to low.
This master is real close to the SBM version but sounds much better and the timing is very cool.
Real good work George.
stay tuned
