Surprised no one has review this one yet?
Oh well I can be the first to do so, first off what hits me is the clarity of the mix, very good, nice intro, moving into the percussion, nice, wow so many things going on in this one, but in saying that, all where they should be, and not over crowding, which is a credit to you, guessing from what I am hearing, prob not an easy track to do and get everything working so well together, but you have achieved that here mate, could see this as a sound track for a doco or film soundtrack...impressive piece...I too have a new one up now, interested in your thoughts on it, if you have time, so far has good response, diff style then some of my other trance, but still nice piece...Peace n much Respect dude...elsd...
Mate where do I start, well I am listening so suppose that is a good starting place lol, you can hear the different genre's blended here, must say blended extremely well too, as with your works Davey, great clarity and arrangement, love everything about this one man, very talent dude..fav'd big time...Estefano...
This one's an interesting track. The strumming guitar, vocal samples and bass gives it a reggae feel, while the atmospherics and the chord progressions are more on the trip-hop/electronica side, as you've mentioned. It surprisingly fits together really well. I don't think if I'd ever heard a dark(ish) reggae song ever before until this track, and I really liked this. My only advice would be to extend the intro by just another couple of bars before the guitar strums enter in order the let the track breathe a bit before being unleashed.
Thanks for listening and your comments, Nystagmus. Glad you enjoyed the trippy nature of this track as it is a change of direction for me. I've always enjoyed listening to dub and dubstep and thought it high time to produce a track. Thanks for your thoughts about the intro too. Cheers,
--Davey--
Mate powerful piece, wicked beat and bassline, excellent fx, again with your piece's I have come to expect crystal clarity and again you have not disappointed, arrangement very good also, keeping listening glued right to the end of piece, strong leads and synths, vocal fits so well matey, excellent work once again...Peace n Fav'd man....Estefano...Have new tribute track for the young people lost in Germany, hope you get to check it out and give me your thoughts matey...Peace...
Thanks for your comments, Danika. Glad you enjoy my soundz. I may well take you up on the offer of vocals for one or two of my future tracks. I'll also try to listen to some of your music if I get time. Greetz & Peace, --Davey--
Thanks for you comments, dude - glad u enjoyed the retro feel to this dance track. You may have a point about the kick although I wanted the bass synths to stand out more. I guess it's down to preferences at the end of the day. Cheerz for listening. --Davey--
i was attracted to this because of the poetic theme, purgatorio is the 2nd book in dante's divine comedy & the entire trilogy is a bit of a psychedelic trip thru after death states. i don't understand italian but it isn't hard to figure out that the quotes are about bad spirits on the astral plane & stuff like that. so, i would expect the music to be appropriately strange & other-worldly & i am not disappointed. the main synth theme is twisted & a little harrowing & the whole feel of the song is like you are moving thru a hallucinatory experience, somewhere between heaven & hell. the beat keeps you moving forward, looking for a way beyond this weird purgatorio.
Well thank you for giving such a thoughtful review, man. You've more-or-less hit the nail on the head with what I was trying to achieve musically while using Dante's Purgatorio quote line. It sounds like you really enjoyed this so thanks once again for your input here. --Davey--
hey man i really like ur twist on the breabeat mixes and out of this world synth sound that comes in at 0:31 real sick good to my ears, sounds like u had a great time making this track.
man I am loving your work, so full of energy, crystal clear, mate I am jealous on how clear you are getting your piece's, I am still trying to learn how to master piece's, when I hear the briliant piece's you do I feel mine sound like well you know what...Beat and bass very solid in this, very nice pad in the background, vocals nice...love everything about this one Davey, as always can not fault in anyway, ya a very talent guy...another fav'd my friend...Peace Davey...Estefano...
Thanks for your kind words, Estefano and glad you enjoyed this. Glad you think the mastering is clear although when I listen to this on my hi-fi I find there is too much sub-bass! I've listened to a few of your tracks as you know and I think you do a reasonable mix-down/mastering. Cheerz bruv, --Davey--
Wow man this is brilliant, right from the very start, clarity of it is stunning, nice beat, piano is super, vocals very nice man, just sensational this piece, man you are so talented, bass is wow, man instant fav this piece, massive piece...loviong it...FAV'D...Peace Davey...Keep em coming like this...Estefano...
It's always such a pleasure when you review my work as it seems you enjoy my style although other people's opinions may differ. Still that's the subjective nature of music I guess! Anyway, you've obviously have really enjoyed this as the song tells a story and I've been fairly adventurous harmonically with this composition too.
Have a gr8 weekend, bruv! Peace, --Davey--
I can the office people racing around, some at computers, some in a large boardroom. There is one person who know he does not fit. He's on the computer, he has the ability to shut it all down, to stop the madness he sees going on around him. He contemplates the idea, sees within his mind the greater madness it would cause as all the hamsters got off their wheels and had to deal with life. Across the way he sees a secretary, she is smiling at him, she knows his mind for hers is the same as his. he smiles back. He postures as to suggest, should I do it. She responds only with a smile. A few keystrokes are made on the computer, just one more will through the whole bloody company into chaos. Just one more button...........
It seems that my plan for a thought provoking track worked! It was partially my idea to make the listener to think about deeper thoughts while listening to this and it obviously had an effect on you. Thanks for writing such an interesting review. Greetz, --Davey--
Mate I get to be the first to review this one :)like the intro, little eerie but so nice, vocal nice, dont speak Italian but still like, good bass and beat here, hi hat/perc good also, mate you know what you are doing for sure, loving it...Fav'd...Man can not believe no one has reviewed this piece, very nice...Peace matey..Estefano...
Matey nice, first thing that hit me was how clear track was when it first started, nice guitar work, squech from guitar is little hard on ears but you get used to it, this track is sooo good, vocals are great, very entertaining man, everything about this piece keeps you interested right through, mate you have talent this is good, instant fav right from the start Davey...Thank you man for sharing your talent...great listen...Peace man...Esefano
Hi Estefano, thx for the review m8 - glad you enjoyed this piece which is now over 3 years old. Timbassman said his fingers were really sore after doing loads of takes with the acoustic guitar sample and I do understand how the 'fret-slide' sound can be tricky on the ears! Anyway I really enojoyed making this. Peace out, --Davey--
Hey Davey, welcome to looperman! This is a very well constructed song, nice changes, nice production, lots of energy! I played it at a loud volume in a residential area, think I made some friends, lol!
Excellent! Someone taking the advice given in the song, LOL. Well, I'm really pleased you enjoyed this bro and thanks for the welcome here too. I used to be on Dance Industies but have left now. D.I. gave me only a very mediocre rating for this track which totally contradicted the very positive user rating I received so, apart from the new web layout which was far worse than the previous set-up, I decided to call it a day and BREO, who use to be with D.I. too, recommended I join Looperman! --Davey--
Nice acoustic work. the levels on the piano might need looking at as they started to spin out on my speakers. Touch lower or change to the freqs and they should be ok.
Love that kinda 80s synth band influence when it starts to kick in. Sounds like depeche mode or something. Got a real authentic sound.Lovely wobbly bass really drives it on.
Perfect structure -i really like that it finishes quite similar to how it starts.
Thanks for your comments Bobbybooth. This track is over 2.5 years old now and I'm still pleased that ppl enjoy it. Tbh I can see what you mean about the piano sequences but I had to EQ and levelize them in such a way as to prevent aliasing/distortion with the middle frequences. Well, thanks for thoughts on this and I'm glad you enjoyed the structure of the song. --Davey--
Cheers mate - glad u enjoyed this. For now I'm going to be adding my 'back catalogue' but in the not too distant future, watch out for some new material.;) --Davey--
