Rich is right about the 140, start there and don't stray off more than 4 bpm. The funny thing about dubstep is it's ACTUALLY at 70 bpm and you write everything in half time. So assume your drum machine (redrum, ableton, etc) has a 16 beat loop in it with 4 beats per measure. On your track it has a kick and snare every measure making it fast. Imagine slowing it down half as fast. Put a kick on the first beat and then wait two measures, put a snare on the first beat of the 3rd measure. So instead of
Kick - - - Snare - - - Kick - - - Snare - - -
Do
Kick - - - - - - - Snare - - - - - - -
Repeat ;-) I hope this helps, I've spent alot of time deciphering why it's so hard to make such simple music, such is dubstep.
ya what eshar said.. and beyond that this is pretty cool..
i like it.. i downloaded it with a thought that it be a great for an intro or something in a DJ set
ya this makes me think of big beat... i dig this track allot and would love it if you let it be what it wants to be... their will be plenty of time to write some dubstep... :)
its the drums mate normally its just a kick and one snare like booom snare boom boom snare
you no wat i mean probably only one snare in 4 bars or you can space more and have one in 8... also nice wobbly bass and your on the money. still nice beat tho more like drum and bass. dubstep also tends to be 140bpm
i love the start of this track the bass is wicked the whole tune is well produced but i noticed that you amen beats and break loops seem either a bit to over limited or too compressed i am not sure but those drum loops seem a bit lost in the track but overall great track still keep them coming
Very aggressive, I like. Made me feel angry, great work.
Not 100% sure if the synth and vocal quite fit when you are building up that drum beat, use it in the breakdown bruv and drop a in yer face vocal on it.
Dude turn the damn beat down and the whole thing would be fine.
What I mean by that is how am I supposed to enjoy the other sounds if that beat is so loud?. I like to listen to every single sound in a song thats made. But this is a good song. Just the loud beat..ugh. Yeah man. All good though peace
nice dark filtering beginning nice drop metal drumset looove it very good this variation on the drums and subbass but why only 60 sec needs more space!
Hey this sounds like some really nice work so far! I think it needs some bass to the mix, otherwise it's not missing much. Very cool sampling man! Nice one!
thanks, its only my second attempt so i will hopefully get better will try to add some interest with bass and will re post the finished tune and see what kinda response that gets - thanks for review
nice, I like these soundeffects and the idea of making songs with samples...yet I have to say that I would somehow smoothen the sample at 0:47, I think it's a bit too rough.
I think you could get some inspirations through some of these songs:
The Avalanches: frontier psychiatrist (The Avalanches are also making songs only using samples) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qLrnkK2YEcE
Isolee: Beau mot plage (going a completely different way, more electro/minimal. Apart from being a great song, its quite a good example how to use weird samples/sounds, especially around 4:50) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pa3t6LO4fYM
you could also develop a sick dnb tune, but i'm not an expert on that field
thanks, its only my second attempt so i will hopefully get better will re check the sample at .47, and will check the artists mentioned for some inspiration - thanks for review - will re post finished version.
nice flow man maybe the beat especially the kick neets ab bit of work nice wobbling beat the structure is maybe a bit to confusing mean a bit to many components
Check out my new tune:
hey thanks, this seems to work pretty well, can see i got a bit excited with putting a track together and is most definetely too confusing may have a go at another or try to work on this and see if your help helps thanks
