Faved. Awesome.
Dark, eeerie ... Aggressive... Cold...
Yeah.
Awesome.
Definitely the standout track!
Again heard a pad lulling over the top to build some subliminal tension?
Really enjoyed the drum work you have... Definitely going to keep my eye out for your work!
Cool bossanova sample!
Ahh.. reminds me of the days geeking out to Amon Tobin.
Make sure not to forget the balance of the drums on this! Of course probably another personal preference but I "felt" the bass (awesome bass btw) but the drums didn't really touch my ears enough... More kick?
Was thinking about a pad? Something on the long bar to frame some of the musicality going on, and then perhaps segueing your two elements (the bossanova and the break).
Thank you alividlife, as always your advice is spot on. The drums are easily the most neglected part of this track, its because at the moment I'm working with a very talented drummer from Ireland to give my productions more energy and life and Im ashamed to say the drums on my recent uploads were no more than pace setting fillers, keep an ear out for the new version with live drum loops coming in the next few weeks. Would really like to hear your review of the updated tracks.
Yea, I will just say as a producer to another producer, I feel that this is still in the skeleton stage... Yet you have a really strong and quirky/fun skeleton to build on!
I really enjoyed the sounds you chose and agree with all the other reviewers. Some thoughts that immediately popped in my head was most definitely the flute and then delay on that... I just love a wind instrument with delay on it. But that's a personal aesthetic.
Another thought on my mind, was perhaps moving some semitones around so you got more musical movement out of the piece?.. There's always those trusted 5ths and 7ths that work sooo well in electronic music.
I will definitely keep my eye out for this, and I am going to listen to some more of your work!
Very nice indeed. I especially liked how you first introduced the guitar. It was great timing when you let the guitar play out towards the end too. Had a great flow. I can picture mixing it in at out. Do you have versions in which you have breaks for mixing? I can tell you've dj'ed before. Seems dj friendly. ;)
Hi DJQuickRick, thanks for the review bruv. You've got me spot on, been DJing for 8 or 9 years now. What are you after? Im sure I could put together an extended breaks mix.
On V3 of this now, smoothed the guitar in V2 and now Im working all night (with some 'cough cough pass' help) on recording live drum loops with the Octopus. Will post when mastered. Thanks again.
this is sick, really good instrum for that thriller speech, its different to what i usualy listen to but the whole dnb/dubstep/breakbeat vibes im really feelin theses days, props, mal
The movie samples are cool and always a good way to spice up a track. Breakbeat and DnB can be hard to pull off I find but you sound like you know what you're about.
Thank You very much ResistanceIsFutile. I need to blend the movie samples to the track to make it a little more smooth, I think I am going to add some analogue feedback to give that vinyl feel to it.
I dig this, nice a laidback in a way at first. Then it gets interesting :)
I really dig where it went, and that little flute touch is a major thing, really floats along with the pounding pulse. The samples are really good touches.
Nice track, I enjoyed it. The finish was a bit off to me is really all.
Thank You BrokenScythe fantastic feedback and much appreciated, I will review the end and see what can be done, its a little short and there is plenty of room for manoeuvre from the intro. A remastered version will appear in a few weeks, please come back to have a listen.
Now I see what you mean, putting emphasis on a particular instrument in certain parts. I actually do that once in Severe, but I suppose I put too much. I feel you now man, thankyou once again.
Now for this track, it is very well executed. The vox came in and fits PERFECT with what you've made. It's almost minimalistic at times, and yet it moves like it's not. The string touches were nice as well.
Great track, I enjoyed listening to it.
Thank You BrokenScythe, I'm working with a very talented octopus armed drummer at the moment to overhaul this track with a few new beats. Check back in a couple of weeks, I would really appreciate your feedback on the remastered track.
i love the bass my room is vibrating :), again same advice more variations on the drums, more synths, i simply love the intro and i just think you should incorporate more of it throughout the track, up to 1:00 everything is flowing smoothly then the excitement reaches its peak and slowly fades away as the track progresses
Thank you Douf, the new live drum break is being laid down this week, it should drive the track better than the loop. You are quite right it does tail off, I will take a look at adding another breakdown/build up to add more excitement. Thank you for your advice Douf.
nice cuts, i really like the flow, but. you know this loops on 1:37, that keeps repeating throughout the track? you need to add more variations to it right now its in the foreground and very repetitive i think
great work
