This is a beautiful track; lovely composition. I'm not crazy about the keys, though. I think this piece could really shine with a real piano, a Steinway, perhaps? Well, done, though.

This one is quite easy on the ears Bob, what a peaceful and enjoyable trip I just took in the span of a few minutes. Even mix all around, no complaints or suggestions. Eb is a nice key. The rise around 1:35 was a good transition. It's chillin' me out but my morning coffee is fighting it in a bad way!;)

Nice composition!

Hi Wayne, Great to hear from you. I got hooked on this a bit, that I was up all night one time just listening to it. There's a slightly modified version ready to go up. The current version has a bit of a bump at 7kHz which makes it a little harsh in places. I'll do that later today. Eb is a great key for keyboards but not so much for guitar, so I cheated. Re-sampled the track down one semitone to D. Added the Guitar track and then re-sampled it up to Eb. Slinky eh?

It's one of those pieces of music that you feel much calmer after you listen to it than before. The airy sounding pad/synth is nice, it carries the melody but sits back in the mix. Some nice changes in instruments and dynamics make for a laid back enjoyable listen. Good summer music. Cm and Eb, nice chords, not ones I use a lot but should.

Enjoyable track Bob!

Hi Wayne,
Many thanks for a nice review. I think that using a minor key, to give a slightly negative emotion, and then spinning off to the relative major seems to give a pleasing mood shift every time you move form the minor to the major, or vice verce.

All the best

Bonjour Bob ....

Always faithful to your themes recognizable among all (at least for me). Other instrumentations, but it 's you at 100%.
Glad to find you for this very original piece.
I hope that all goes well for you, and that the weight of age does not affect you too much ....

This is a really good piece of music.
I think it would be cool if you changed the main melodic instrument a little bit in the middle to mix it up.

Overall, well done!

many thanks for your great review. Now I Think about it, you're absolutely right. I should mix up the lead by changing the main melody patch

Woah, very chilled out cinematic piece Ford! Really like the percussion and your key work is still sounding really good. Age has tried to slow you down but you still rise above it. Good idea for helping the sleep time to get some rest. After hearing this I hear life is constantly rushing by, never seems to be enough time to relax once one is in motion. Ty for the moment away. Keep creating man! Peace.

hi Metabolic. Thanks for your supportive comment. The way I did this is to sit on the piano first thing in the morning, and play a bunch of scales and arpeggios. Then I just play anything at random. After a while, something good starts to happen, and that is the basis for the track. The other thing that was quite interesting, is that the organ sound was not something I would normally use because it sounds a bit soft, but as a contrast with the bright piano sound, it seems to work well

Hi Ed,
good to hear from you. Yes it's a bit 40s. I remember when I was a kid of about 5, my mother would have the radio on, and it had this kind of warm harmonic sound.
Thanks for your great comment.

bbedford48
bbedford48 replied 10th Jun 2016 - 8 years ago
hi YaBoyDynamite,
Thanks for the comment. It made my day. The piano is a real acoustic upright. I took the front off, and close miked the soundboard. The other tracks are all on a Roland Fantom. They are all played ion real time, i.e. as performances. It would be good to get into midi and program some stuff, but maybe later

Hey there bbedford48. Thank you for posting this beauty on the site! Really like the piano play. Everything goes really well together, at least for my ears... Smooth jazzy track that make me feel warm and relaxed! And the clarity of the instruments is phenomenal in my opinion. Great track man, I really like it! This one is a fav. and downloaded for my collection of looperman tracks. Keep up the great work!
Peace

Hi Wise11
Many thanks for your positive comment. Really made my day. That organ kind of worked well as a soft contrast to the bright piano.

You can play this kind of music on my radio all day Bob...funny, the way you developed this one is the way I end up starting a lot of my own efforts..sit around playing chord progs on the acoustic...coming up with chord variations..trying do do something I haven`t done before with lots of changes & then seeing if my head finds the melody ( I have better luck when I put the original away for a while HaHa)...this one comes out a treat my friend..I`m likely biased as I played rhythm guitar for quite a few years in band days & later developed the habit of composing around progressions I liked....keep on doing it...I`ll keep tuning in...this is the real stuff....definite fav...Ed

Hi Ed,
Great to hear from you. I'm always a bit in awe of your mighty guitar playing, but I can hit the right notes often ( although not always in the right order :) ). Many thanks for your kind words. I'm trying to build my latest thing from a bass line. see how that works out !

Damn this is good in so many ways Bob! A well thought out song, nice instrument choices and a solid mix. Dig the nicely played guitar as well.

This song has a commercial advertising feel to it, like it could be used by Disney in promotional vids and things like that. I could hear this played for a half an hour while the local realtor showed all the houses for sale in his neighborhood, lol. That's such a lame description, shameful really. I think you get what I mean, it's a solid easy pop/rock song that would appeal to all.

I like it, well done!

Don't worry about being stuck in the 70s. This morning I managed to connect my FL Studio midiout plugin to my Yamaha DGX-200 midi keyboard and get a remote controller to work (reverb). Nice happy track by the way - rock? I don't know about that! LOL.

Great track. I love the slow build and that warm bass sound among all the reverb laden high notes. It has a very strong 80's feel. Kind of makes me want to Watch Labyrinth. In fact, I'm gonna go watch Labyrinth now...

Music for being chased by a Minotaur. May be too happy for that. May be good for depicting the BEGINNING of the flight, but not the end.

This sound really good. 4:27 timing sounds a tad off, but that is a really nice guitar tone you have there.

Rather hopeful and upbeat track. Good stuff!

Hi PDM, Thanks for your positive review. After listening to it a few times it seemed to me that the bass is not quite right, but I'm not sure why.
