This is actually kinda beautiful. I'm a sucker for this more melodic type of dubstep. As long as you're looking for advice, I'd probably recommend bringing the drums up a little bit. They're serviceable where they are, but they either need to be louder or the rest of the track needs to be sidechained a little more. As it is, they're kinda drowned by the synths, especially the snare.
I literally love dubstep but not the riddim one and this track is very very good I like how you introduce your drop in 0:14 and delay at 0:16 that was awesome same with a heavy growl that really gives the track alive. GREATLY DONE.
Is there anything in particular about the mix that you noticed could be changed? I definitely need to add more variety to the drop. Thank you for the feedback.
great snippet...partly agreed with Bear but that wobbles is one of the main character of dubstep...it's cool and hope we could hear the final version...
So I am not a fan of dubstep, but if I ignore the stuff I don't like, this song is beautifully done. I also think the section from around :43 on with the piano is about as good as it gets. I understand dubstep, I am like the Deadpool character in that I just don't like those bass wobbles. Production is really solid and the underlying music is a 10/10 (gorgeous chord progressions). Again, I really liked what you did here, but I would love to hear this one without all the glitched bass stuff. But then it would be EDM or pop or something and that would defeat the purpose for you. Anyway, I ramble. Good solid start to what could be a real winner for you. I hope all is well.
Thank you for taking the time to listen and provide some feedback. I worked quite a bit to get the mixing and mastering down, so I'm glad you noticed. I'd love to experiment with new genres for this song and see what I can come up with. I can definitely see a chill or a pop version with vocals. Much appreciated.
The loudness is just part of the genre. There is some compression, equalization, and limiting involved to increase the perceived loudness, but it is all mastered to 0dB. Thanks for taking the time to listen and leave a comment.
not really enough to give some informed feedback Axion...but I think you are off to a good start...not my genre so my feedback would likely not be really useful...if you wanted some feedback on mastering...I would definitely recommend you put all the detailed work you can into the mix itself first..EQ, Comp on the individual tracks that need it etc...volume automation to keep the interest etc...mix it down to a new stereo track when its as good as you can get it...and consider Mastering as a separate process...I have beem using T-RackS since version 1..new version has some presets that might be useful (as a starting point only)...but I would suggest you master in a new project that allows you to apply the few main mastering plug-ins you will need..mastering is experience based and does requiire you invest in knowledge/education in the fundamentasl at least....keep it going....Ed
@ Axion oh you should write in your description this track is a sample for a longer one or WIP ( work in progress) to make less confusion .I maybe not alone who think for a Track (full song) 54 second is too small.
Tanks for your reply I will keep a eye on you to lisen the final production :D
I will definitely do that to avoid confusion for others! Sorry about that! And my final product will most likely go on SoundCloud first. I tend to sometimes forget posting on Looperman so if you follow me on SC too you will for sure hear the final track.
Axion,
Not my reg genre but I do listen to Spiv Kurls stuff. I cannot say I find anything wrong with this track at all. I really enjoyed this one; it has no gaps, all instruments are in their place, nice builds.
Def cannot wait to hear this completed….let's see if you can keep the interest level going…good luck!
Mark.
Thank you so much for the kind words! Hope to have this done before January knowing my tendency to move on to a new track before ever finishing the previous one haha. I hope the interest level stays at a max the whole time, as that is my overall goal. Thanks for the listen!
In my opinion, this piece is great. However, the synth melody in the beginning and end could make be altered to a slightly more friendly synth? Because now it sounds like it's attacking thy ears.
That's all the feedback I got. I really like the wobbies in this though ^^
very cool, too bad the duration is only 54 seconds. maybe you should add some "soft" melodies before and after this 54 seconds then return with this 54 sec. the music will have like 3 minutes. because you start already with a drop.
you can check Bass antics from Seamless to know what I try to explain :D
I will definitely be making this longer. Just wanted to provide a sample track of what I am trying to master so I can get some feedback on my work and improve. Thanks for listening btw!
This is awesome! I'm a bit jealous of you! You got it going good with your music. Never stop improving. I'm not quite deep in this community but I will be! Pretty good track. I feel like the lead at the beginning and end could be not as loud as it was, I focus on things that are pleasant to the ear. You had my head nodding, definitely something to shoot for I hope you were nodding while you were making this.
Haha I am going to have to agree with you about the lead. I don't even like it... I just couldn't find a good sounding lead that fit the song. Hopefully will find one soon :) Thanks so much for the kind words! It really means a lot to me... you have no idea.
Thank you very much for your comment :) Yes unfortunately it is hard to keep all of my social media pages up to date at times (Youtube being the worst). I am trying to at least keep my Looperman page and SoundCloud page up to date!
