I was not even thinking about NIN or Tool as influences, but LOL.. now that you mention it. I might become ambitious and get out my Shure Beta and do some real vocal comps. I used my Cheap Ass Labtec PC microphone to record the improv vocal idea. Thanks for the review..
i picture "WALL-e" taking some robot acid and going down a back alley and ending up in a futuristic opium den...a couple old fat men in a dark corner of the room drinking sake and listening to this great track.
Thanks I thought to myself, "Wow I could have done a whole lot better..." so then I made this =D thanks for listening and reviewing its much appreciated
soooo freakin cool rei, love the fx and the dimminishing melody, what a great sound. did you play the parts? love the industrial sounding claps..metallic almost.
thx!!!
everything except the drumloops is from me, basically the licks are pretty simple, the gates make them sound so different ... the claps are from a sony 8pack, this loop fitted perfectly ... oh, I uploaded some of that guitar loops recently ... they're called "yellow" ...
peace, rei
Thanks Gizza,
The downside to the this one is that back then I didn't know that I could save the different effects pre-sets I had used so when I tried to edit a part near the butt-end of the vocals it gave me such a hard time trying to emulate the FX used on the others that I just gave up and reverted back to what I had recorded before.
Songwise, I didn't really want to change it too much. Just slow it down and add effects that would make is sound spaced-out (like being played outside in an alley as the dirty deeds are done and the car screeches away).
Lyrically, they kind of don't fit, but I wanted to make it a story about friendship and how when the sh*t hits the fan you've always got that to fall back and count on (with true friends, atleast). So it's kinda like a mix between the films Lock, Stock, and Two Smoking Barrels with Menace 2 Society. Glad ya dug it, L&R!
amazing track fresco.
1st of all-your 'own' back-up singing melody is perfect. when i say perfect what i mean is..PERFECT. you got a 'hook' right there.
you seem to disect and engineer a soulful r&b track like your spreadin peanut butter..lolsmmmooooooooooooooooth
fantastic and by far my fav of yours [faved b4 review] i really am at a loss for words..
you just brought it!
Gizzard,
Thanks again.
You are too kind. I saw that you had asked for some mixing technique suggestions, applications and so forth awhile a go. I will hook up with you in this regard soon. I can tell you now that my process is totally by trial and error. I do have some things I almost always go to, but for the most part, I just keep trying stuff till it comes together (or not...). There is a ton of trash on the cutting room floor that will never see the light of day, but I learn from each attempt. After all these years, I am still simply digging in and trying whatever options, available tools and experiments I can conjure. Persistence is my process. Stay with it bro. Thanks for the inspirado....

Thanks mate
I have just spent ages trying to find them again!
If you look under loops/vocal and not acapella as you might have been, you can find all sorts of weird stuff. I saw the gran stutter (PC) there if that was the one.
If you cant find it let me know and I will send it to you
Thanks for the review

Yeah, I was having an issue with that myself. They are a bit too diminished. Working to fix it now. Thanks for the good call, and the good words. Much appreciated.

vox level [to my ear] needs something..do you have a 'phaser' effect on it w/flange?
needs a tweak but is one of my favs!
