Hey DRO
I love your elements...great tones and nice blend of arpegios and leads.
You're still mixing like a guitar player though
On my Equipment the vocals are still getting a little buried by the guitars....lol
You create such great guitar tones...I get it... I wanna hear them all but it's muddyin up the waters a bit when they layer up.
I love what you do man
I really do
Please don't take what I am sayin as anything more than an opinion.
Even if you don't tweak a single thing in this track it will still be in my Faves
I want you to be encouraged about your music production but unless you have serious issue with it I'll always tell you what I really think.
Peace my Friend
BT
Hey BT,first up thanks for your suggestions and thanks for turn in and comment,im not sure if i understand your review right,on my equipment the sound is clear and so i canĀ“t imagen what you mean, I had the Vocals been settled down a little, maybe not enough if you say that it does not sound good on your equipment, please let me know exactly what i can do better :)
i appreciate your review and wish you a nice day,DRO
Very polished track
Easy Fave
Seems like some of the Arps had a little more "shimmer" in the top end than I was hearing in the mix. It keeps the sonic spectrum tight which does have it's advantages.
Nice work
Peace
BT
hi thx for the comment... i really had my probs with the high end...i programmed it on my monitors-too much sss...mixed it with headphone-good shiny...listened it in the living room-too sharp and a strange "chimney" sound ... no idea if theres an alternative way instead of listening on different sources...
Masterful!!!
Especially the dissonant piano....It takes a special ear to make what shouldn't work fit so well.
You are all over this S**t
Start to finish a beautiful work
Both musically and sonically
KUDOS
Peace
BT
Great Track Char!!!
Your instincts are great both musically and sonically
I love the percussion and it's syncopation...it adds alot to the track that you didn't just fall on a simple 4/4.
Fave
Thanks BT,
used the complete Voiceloop on an earlier track,(Guitar Love)wont do the same again ,so i made a short different version of the Voiceloop for this one, thanks for turning in nice that you like.:)
DRO
Hmmmmmmm
Whats not to like?
I really like the elements you've employed and musically its really strong.
I'm really feeling the absence of a pronounced kick.
I'm not sure if that's deliberate or not but some eq to bring it out could balance the sound spectrum a bit creating a bit of 'air' or "openess" in the mix.
Just my take on it sonically but I love the track.
This is great stuff
40 secs in I Faved it
Has a really nice live feel...its refreshing
Alot of what I listen to here is very contrived including my own stuff
This is fast and loose in all the right ways
Very Nice track
Peace
BT
Thanks allot, BT. Our collabs, for the most part, are live although Franco (guitar) resides in Italy and I'm (drums) in Arizona. We've been working for a couple of years, now.
Great track!
Nice arrangement of all the elements you used.
It does have a cool reggae feel...reminds me of Karma Coma by Massive Attack.
Easy Fave
Peace
BT
Very smooth!
I fell into this one fast...one of those ones that doesn't have to end...a very comfortable groove that just holds ya.
Very nice musically.
You ask about things you could do to make this better and i can't really think of much. I was thinkin maybe a bit of 'air' in the mastering to seperate things a bit but the more I listen to it it doesn't even really need that.
First track of yours I've heard here and an Easy Fave
KUDOS
Thanks a lot for your review BT! I am 3 months late with my reply, and I am sorry for that.
The groove is indeed what I liked best about this track myself. I was lucky I found the right kicks and snares I guess. I do agree on your comment on the mix. Actually, I had not listened to the mp3 export before, just uploaded it. It does take away just a little bit of the crispness. But I think it is the bass that makes it just a bit too full and gelly. Well observed! I'll see if I can eq it enough to make some more room.
Kinda FUNKY!?!?!
This is so funky i can Smell it!!
The Acoustic guitar.... I noticed some one else brought it up too....there are parts(3:00 - 3:30) where it fits very nicely adding texture to the background but there are other times when it feels like it doesn't fit. Its this jangly sound where it needs to be more percusive. I don't know really...what I'm talkin about is kinda sonicaly cliche and you may well be goin for something different.
Either way it's not putting me off the track
It's and easy Fave
Very Cool Tune
Peace
BT
hey BT, thanks for dropping your thoughts and impressions here.
first of all i am happy you like it that much.
you know what, you make a good point with that a more precussive guitar sound might loosen up the mix a little where it's too crowded. an acoustic guitar is so rich of harmonics and i already filtered the hell out of it but what i didn't do is shape it with an amp envelope. never thought about it before and i will give that a try for sure, cheers man!
I like this track
Very upbeat and musically cool
I agree that the mix is very "dry" right now but just a bit of FX here and there (not enough to take away it's 8bit charm)and this thing will really shine.
I'm lookin forward to hearing what you do.
Peace
BT
This one kinda grew on me.
Your beat is SOLID! I wish I could build stuff like that.
Musically...It grew on me
Its got a jazz composition feel to me...there are key changes/discrepancies that are a little uncomfortable at first. I don't know if they cease to be of if in some way they work or what but by the end I was cool with it all.
That beat kept me in the game though.
Definately worth a second listen
For me anyway
Peace
BT
Thanks for taking the time to respond. Folks seem a lil reluctant to comment, but I have very thick skin. I have a lot to learn and I'm just trying to get better. I'm very happy you gave me some feed back. Ill take a look at how I can smooth things out a bit. Maybe try some different chords, or just not let both elements clash so much. But Thanks for reaching out. I was going nuts, cause no one would say anything!
Nice
This is a pretty straight forward piece but you have a knack for knowing when to change it up/add a sound/subtract a sound.
I agree with Renz...you have a good ear for production.
There is one instance at 1:12...I don't know if it was a hard pan or a deliberate drop but sonicly the top disappears and the mix seems a little muddy for about 8 seconds then its back to full spectrum at around 1:20.
Just a little thing and totally sonic.
Musically this is a solid arrangement.
Kudos
Peace
BT
Hola and thank you! Yeah as you mentioned though around 1:12, its hard pan, maybe it bit too much and it does sound a little iffy right. Thank you again!
-Charlene
This was a fun listen
Someone earlier mentioned that the panning was kind of heavy handed but I like the movement in it.
I love the sonics of it and it remains musical.
Definately a Fav and it will warrant atleast a half dozen more plays/discoveries.
Peace
BT
Thanks for the comment. I find it interesting that you and M8TN have opposing views on the vocal panning. I think that because the track is very experimental, there are no 'genre guidelines' as to what it should sound like, so its down to the listener's gut to decide. When creating this track, I was going for a sensory experience over a purely musical experience. When doing the panning on the vocals, the image I had in mind was of some ethereal spirit dancing around you.
That being said, to find the sweet spot between the sensory and the musical can only be done by getting feedback from all you guys that comment, which I really appreciate.
