Hey this is a great, progressive sounding track. I really like it. It's a little soft though. By that I mean not quite loud enough for all the elements to come through cleanly. Brilliant playing though. Peace and Love, Six

I like the ideas that you put out here, but it seems like they are a little loud. The production feels like it should be cleaner. That might be a style choice on your part, it is just my take. Again there is promise in what you are doing, I hope you don't think I am slamming you or anything like that. Keep doing what you love, peace, Six

But I think you have done a very good job crafting a mellow piece of music. I like the simplicity of the melodies and the straightforwardness of the whole thing. I hear it saying to me, relax, crack open a cold one and enjoy life a little. Also anyone who uses Yoda as an avatar is cool with me. =) Peace and love, Six

What you are doing, while not on the level of greatness, is still good. With time and patience you can develop your ear and arranging skills. This song is a good example of a good ear. It is not full of the typically abbraissive sounds, but rather something that was crafted to sound right. While it is not my style, I like it for what it is and think you should spend time developing yourself. Peace and love, Six

Hey thanks for taking the time to listen and comment. Even though I may sound a little morose (Goth ?) at times, I'm really am having a lot of fun here. It's people like you with great talent and great patience that are icing on the cake.

This site is amazing with it's variety. This is very hard music to produce on a computer and you have done a good job of it. I like the change-ups a lot. Well done. Peace and love, Six

on Randall-Alternate Rock by Randall822
This song is OK. A good genre exercise but my least favorite of the three you have. It sounds good though. Just doesn't have enough elements or subtleties for my taste. But then, that is only my opinion and does not speak to the actual "quality" of the piece. Am I hearing some clipping on the acoustic guitars? Just wondering. I think this would work as a background piece for say a surfing show or some sports highlights. That is not a put down by the way. I still think you're the man bud. Peace and love, Six

Hello there Six...
Hey, thanks for your valuable comments! That's how I learn to get better. The rock song, I have to agree with you on. Nice piano part, but little else except a lot chord playing, and not much lead guitar to shine through.

As for the acoustic guitar sound, it isn't really distorted on its own, as I just listened to it on the track by itself. What is happening is, the distortion from the electric guitar is overriding to make it sound like the acoustic is distorting as well.
I liked the sound of them 2 playing together, but was no way to get that distortion sound out unless I made the acoustic softer and in the background. Anyways, I'll listen more closely on my next song and try and get things separated more. Thanks again!

Country music is what I grew up around. Not for everybody, but still mainstream in America and I will make more.

Great song my friend. Pretty arrangement, solid playing and great vox. Open G-tuning capoed at like the 3rd or 4th fret perhaps? Really brilliant stuff. Peace and love, Six

Hiya six, Thanks for the review. This track actually uses standard tuning capoed quite high at the sixth fret. one guitar picking around the standard chords of G,G/C and D for the verse. The other guitar plays higher inversions and harmony. The other songs, Australia and Move both use the tuning DGDGBD. Thanks again. Papa.

Hey I really dig this track. Kind of reminds me a little bit of a cross between late '90s Metallica and Widespread Panic. Sorry I hate giving comparisons, but I just got a really strong vibe from this. Besides, I LOVE those two bands. Really cool sound and distinct vibe. Nice work, Six

I've had someone else tell me it reminded them of Metallica's "Nothing Else Matters" I'm imbaressed to say I didn't remember the song and they shot me a link to it and I remembered it right away then. Thanks for the kind words and I love your stuff to.

Hi ya Six.....
Thanks for the review. Basically I get the sound in my head and then search for a drum set that will match it. If I can't find one, then I make up my own drums. A cool place to get live acoustic sounding drums is at: Betamonkeymusic.com. They also have free samples to download...including heavy double bass (kick) drums kits for rock music.
My next song will be partly a more familiar 12 bar Blues shuffle type beat.
Thanks again,
Randy

I love this track. All the sounds blend in to make a very smooth groove. Makes me want to pick up my guitar and jam to it and that is about the highest compliment I can give. Love this girls voice as well. Top notch stuff. Peace, Six

Forgive me for the Matrix reference, I am at least 40% Sci-Fi/Fantasy Geek at heart. You have some interesting sounds happening here. A couple thoughts (and please consider that this is only my very subjective opinion.) This track would benefit from a little more varied instrumentation. You have good melodies working, they could use a little extra variety. Also you might consider editing down to the strongest stuff, maybe cut 90 seconds or so to make it really tight. Very good for a first shot. Keep it going and always keep the love in what you do. Peace, Six

I like the energy here. It is possible to maintain that energy and be a little bit cleaner. And you can still keep the clipping style and sound without the music actually feeding back. Got a lot of aggression though. MC5 on meth. Peace, Six

on Joke's On You... by DougieDJ
I am reminded of dark minded carnie folk listening to this. I love it! Weird is definitely the right category, but there is just enough hints of melody to keep it interesting. Sometimes the coolest stuff gets tapped into when "fooling around." You should consider developing this a little more. It seemed rather brief. Perhaps you could throw in a bridge or chorus with a well defined and happy melody to shock people a little bit. Just a thought. Well done, Six

There is a great homespun kind of charm to this piece. Like I can see a couple guys jamming in a room, cold beers all around a smokey room having a great time. Very nice.

This is a great track. It all sounds so clean. And I love the little "Tubular Bells" kind of Piano thing. Nice strong groove with some very cool and unexpected background stuff. Very nice. I like guitar work that is tasteful and not overdone, which you have hit head on. You are gonna have to tell me how to do that sometime, as I tend to get carried away. haha Six

Slap you are a stud musician. This track sounds great! Well produced, expertly played all the elements are in place. And there is an element of American-ness to it that is unexpected from a someone in her majesty's kingdom. =) A lot of people are feeling some impact and learning from what you do and that can not ever be discounted in value.

Hi sixfingers, I wish sometimes I was just a stud lol. I have always loved the blues, and from an early age liked listening to jazz and blues. American culture has influenced generations and will keep on doing so. I need to hear real instruments being played by musicians with soul and sang from the heart, I know you will agree, that's our bag. Cheers Slap...

on L-TRAIN by agt907
My grandparents are from Chicago, so I've been there a few times and this definitely captures sonically the imagery of the train ride. Put that train into hyperspeed and throw a couple filters on it and you would have a pretty sweet video. Nicely produced and sequenced. I dig it, and this is not really my style of music. Really dig the bass, great sound. Nice work.
