Thanks for the feedback, I'm flattered :D the drop is indeed not one of my best, but I didn't feel like changing it because it would mess up the flow of the song.
This is really sick! You did a great job mixing this, and the melodies are awesome! Where did you get the vocal, because this is an incredible acapella! The only thing I can say to improve would be that the drop is a little weak. There's a lot going on in the buildup, and when the drop first hits it sound sick, but then everything seems to fade away and there's not much going on. Otherwise, this is great, I'mma have to check out more of your stuff.
Wow, this is really cool! I love the chill feel, and the melodies are really nice. The changeups are interesting, and kept me intrigued throughout the whole song. Very well done
Thanks very much. I also very much enjoy the chilled out vibe and the melodies. There are loads coming from the layered cello parts.
Good to hear that the changes kept you interested. There are quite a few and it's a fairly long track so it needs to maintain the listener's interest.
I could have made it much longer but have a general policy these days of trying not to go over 10 mins. I used to make tracks as long as 17 mins! Only a couple that length but quite a few between 11 and 15 mins.
I really like what you've got here! I'll have to go listen to the full track right after this. I actually thought about participating in this contest too, but I was too busy at the time. Good luck in the contest tho!
I agree with most others seem to be saying. Not a ton needs to be improved. However, I could probably make a few adjustments if you want, and i'm definitely up for producing some songs for you. No pressure, just let me know if you want me to give it a shot :)
I love the thought and artistic value that you put into this! I'm wondering, though, how did you make get those music box sounds in the beginning? I've been wanting something like that forever, but I don't know how to create those sounds! Could you let me know, thanks!
Sounds dope! The vocals could use some effects, but they're not bad as they are. Even though I don't always like the mumble, autotune rap, this could sound good with some autotune. The producer tag is a little loud, that could be lowered in volume a little. And if you want it to peak lower, just lower the volume of everything, you don't necessarily have to remove anything :)
Thanks Ill lower the master track fader and bounce it into a new project for mastering. I have to agree with the producer tag but i just wanted to have a "live" type of sound at the end!!! Dont know if its me but my mixes sometimes sound different after I bounce them out!!!
Didnt know mixing was this hard but I love it!!!
Thanks again and may we work together some day!
I loved the beginning so much! The fade in with the chords and the vocal chops were so awesome! It sounds like the cutoff filter on the drop chords is being automated a ton, and I'm not liking the high pitched sound it's making. You used it well in some places, but it's a little overdone imo. Don't worry too much about this though, just my opinion :)
Loved the start, the 8-bit stuff was so clean! I love how in the very beginning, they are two instruments panned hard opposite of each other doing very different melodies and rhythms, almost in conflict, but almost in harmony, if you know what I mean. Quite the ride here, a lot of crazy sounds, yet an ever-steady beat. I love the originality and the never-ending push beyond boundaries! Keep doing your thing!
Thank you for stopping by! I am very happy that at least one person noticed the introduction stereo work, you must have well tuned and healthy ears.
In all honesty, there are no 8 bit sounds going on in here. The two instruments in the intro go on in some fashion through most of the track, and both are analog (korg monotribe and my hand built modular synth).
I tend to pride myself on making crazy sounds. I will spend months or even years building an instrument, just in order to find that perfect sound... even if that instrument only ends up on one song.
Boundaries are for the northern minnesota waters, and have little place in music for me any more. Any resemblance to a self limitation is in truth laziness on my part, ha ha.
Wow, this is really cool and unique! I think it fits the picture pretty well. I'm considering entering a contest where you have to make a track based on a specific picture, which is what it sounds like you did hear. I'd imagine it's probably harder than I think to do that, buy you did it well :)
The ideas here aren't too bad, but the mix is really muddy. First, the piano you used isn't great quality. Also, it sounds like there's a lot of extra low frequencies on the piano, as well as some other sounds. Most of the drums sound good, especially the kick, and I love the bass stabs that come in throughout the song. Keep working on your mixes and you'll improve with time!
Definitely some nice vocals! The beat fits pretty well too! I noticed a few things that could be improved though. There's a repeating melody on the piano that is out of key. It's at 50, 53, 57 seconds, and so on. The only other thing is the snare. I would use a different snare sample, this one doesn't sound very trappy, like the kick. All the other drum sounds are great though!
