on beatin down the block by DannyBOLO
Whaaaaaaaaaaat! Yo! This is f'k'n tight! Damn right I gots to listen to it twice, and that's just because the second listen comes before the third.

The lyrics are ridiculous! Damn... I know y'all is yo own self, and I don't mean no shallow shit by sayin' this, but your sounds are very EMINEM-ish... What I like in his style, I'm diggin' large in your tracks.

Same condition/affliction has hit this song as with Problem Child... the highs are taking from the bass... Not sure about the Minnie Riperton finale... ('Loving You' - 1974)
Outside of that mastering aspect, all y'all tracks are road trip hitta's. Don't mistake the critique for hate, 'cause I like your tracks.

lmfao nobody seemed to notice that Riperton shit but you. lol
its all good tho i take all critisism as a way to better myself. i love it. lol

on Back Home ft. Problem Child by Pwnone
Grab this tune by the collar, cause it broke the chain and got loose yo!
Very nice comp, but IMO, the 'clarity' at times sounds tin-like.. too high (piano). Maybe that's the sound you were looking for, and after a few more listens, I'll appreciate it more.
Great track. I really like it!

Brilliant! I found three hidden chambers and collected gold, gems and finally solved the puzzle...

Seriously, though, this is a cool-ass piece. I definitely enjoyed it.

What can I say? Your tracks are great.
This one has some highs that cause my headphones to crackle at times... actually, thats pretty common across your music... As far as the music goes, love it! The mastering side is quite good too, with just a few moments of 'audio stress'... I don't know the right word to use for it, but listen to it with different speakers/headphones at a decent volume and you'll see... maybe its just at my and and its an EQ problem?
Doesn't matter much - your music is great!

Thanks very much for your reviews.I do have a problem with vocals recording and I'm actually trying to find a solution.I heard about pop filters but maybe it's just the settings or EQ.I'd be very happy if you could give me some tips.I'll be checking your music.

on Two Worlds by Planetjazzbass
There's really no point in me listening and posting to each and every song that you have posted... they're all varying degrees of excellence. This 1999 piece, is as good as, and arguably better than, your more recent compositions... and your most recent is incredible.

Two worlds... more like out of this world!

Hehe..thanks mate..I'm glad you liked it ..but this track wasn't done in 1999 that's a mistake with something to do with the site it was done in 2008 ..Looperman didn't exist in 1999 haha..plus I was doing stuff that sounded more like the Stones then...lol cheers mate

Out-of-this-world! I have heard a lot of top notch stuff here on LM, but nothing that has the sound, composition, and amazing quality of this piece. This must be one of the top tracks on LM.

Another thing worth mentioning - your paintings (avatar) are great.

Can't wait to listen to the rest of your posted music. Amazing!

on The Tapestries - Scene 3 by Scriptique
Outstanding! This is reminiscent of the times of castles, Queen Anne meets King Henry III and then Shakira comes home. Enough funnin' with it.
Its mind boggling that you pieced this together note by note. The music that you put out here is some of the best I've heard. Its so creative & flowing. You put a level and degree of thought into your work that is almost unheard of here. So, why you gotta raise the bar like so high for us newbies? lol.
Anymore of this quality and we may wind up seeing a new site - looper-lady.com.

on Recurring Dementia by RayKoefoed
Ray... you know, I keep up with your music and your art... I come to LM and make a point to see what you've put out 'this time' because it's always quality. You've got a talent for mixing sounds together and getting their levels just right.
IMO, the main recommendation I have that could make Recurring Dementia better is to make it longer. Enough of this audio foreplay that leaves us hanging. lol. My hat is off to you.
RayKoefoed
RayKoefoed replied Unknown
Thank you audioprojek, that comment makes me feel very good. Audio foreplay, haha, I understand how you feel and thanks for the critisism. I know that the last couple tracks (including this one) haven't been up to par. They were just me messing around on FL Studio where I basicly worked on a single 8 sec or so loop and just broke it down to try to make it seem like a song. I was hesitant to even post them, but I didn't want to just delete them without someone hearing it at least. I promis the next one will be much better.

on Forgot the title by DJKave
This is a hella piece yo! IMO, not gangsta... cross of house and diet-happy-hardcore. Whatever it is, its way cool. The onliest comment I have is that I think your kicks... your bass drum... cheapens the sound. Here you have all this symphonic quality tune blasting all the way though, and your drummer brought a milk crate or something... maybe that's the gangsta bit... somebody stole the drum kit? The drum sounds a little techno... maybe you could add more 'boom'... more depth.
Don't take my word as gospel, 'cause my tunes are all hurtin' and in need of mastering... which brings me to the next bit - you're using Acid as well, and you get some great sounds... I ain't go clue one on how to use the FX in Acid yet. I've been scolded for not following the 70-30 mastering/making rule, and its well earned. No matter, I'm getting off track. Great piece, see what you can do about the drums. (Kurt, Krook and RayKoefoed have all been helpful for me - in case you're looking for some tips.)

This piece is wack! Crazy blend of sounds that don't go together, yet somehow you managed. I wouldn't classify it as chill out though...wierd? fusion-ish?
Nice work!

Try putting some instrumental solo's in it... maybe a few breaks (silent ones). As a core piece, I really like it. Lookin' forward to hearing the evolution if this piece.

on Minus Three by Kurt
What mistakes did you learn from on this? Sounds quite good. With more 'genuine' sounding instrument quality, it'd be fantastic... even as it is, I think it holds up very well.
I haven't been at this long enough to offer much advice (I keep getting told my stuff would sound good on video games etc... not exactly what I'm going for), but as far as listening goes, I like it.
Kurt
Kurt replied Unknown
The one that stuck out to me is when the cello sound joins the flute sound on the theme - there's no stereo placement between them. I should've panned one a little left, the other right. There's also very little EQ - parts sound muddy and could be cleaned up with some judicious cutting of frequencies.
Thanks for the comments!

on Buddha Steps by PDRakaJosephColumbo
What I like about this beat... it sounds good - its a nice mix of audio. Very catchy.
what I like less.. the beats feel a bit hidden - probably not saying it right... but there's nothing to pull me through the complete tack - it starts repeating itself abit soon (IMO). As an instrumental, I think it needs something else, but as a song waiting for lyrics, it'll be great.
Looking forward to hearing it evolve

on Synergy Comp - Hey All You Americanos by Krook
Yo! Anotha Banga from none other than dj half-century! lol. Krook, you keep putting out mix-hitters like this and I won't have time to listen to other LM tracks... maybe that's why you're on looperman...I'm playin your tracks over and over... like a loop.
Good work on the mix, although it does feel like the first bits are a little short... the intro transition from 10sec to 24sec just feels abrupt... could be just me, but based on your other works, this bit is just a little different. Still, great tunes!
Krook
Krook replied Unknown
Hi Robby
Hows the Artic Circle?
Yeah you are right about the intro in this track it is a bit different I had several versions of this track and in the end rushed it all a bit really, I was also experimenting with my voice at the beginning and did not really get that exactly the way I wanted it. I just decided to go with it though.
Thanks for reviewing bud.
Regards
Krook

on Better Without You by alkie
I think this is one of your best. No one point to praise, its just good all around. When's the album release? Got Reading in your sights?

*(Reading, UK - There is an annual festival ... its a pair actually - Reading and Leeds. Sometimes some good music, sometimes, 50Cent... Not sure who picks the groups, but its been pretty consistent with the Metal appearances over the years.)* Seems Metal is on its way back to the masses.)*

on Schlock Box by ScottBurright
... I don't know what crime show, but I have an idea for the story... its about a guy who had 3mins 26 seconds of his life stolen.
Just kidding. This one has a way different feel than hall monitor, but still has a fun, funky feel. Is it your skills that did the octave transition across keys? The downshift in keys, was great. Definitely a tune worth recognition.
With two bangin' tunes like this, you need to keep on keepin' on. I like this one more than Hall Monitor, but no point in comparing apples to oranges.
Lookin' for more yo.
ScottBurright
ScottBurright replied Unknown
You'll never get that 3:26 back.

I'm not sure which downshift you mean. On each verse, it goes to the IV and walks down chromatically. Does that 3 times in the track, with the little Miles Davis flourish. I didn't do those changes, just chose them.

If you mean the bridge/break thing, where the guitar and clarinet stack up an Fm chord and then sting on G, then yeah, I had to glue all that together myself. :)

(The clarinets describe an empty 5th plus octave, but the guitars actually include the minor 3rd.)

I enjoy listening to this one more than Hall Monitor myself. Not sure why. Anyhow, thanks for the cool review.

Hot damn yo! This is a fantastic piece of work... Just when I think I've heard some of the best, some more like this show up.
IMO - the music and vocal do not pair well though, but the words and the music are wonderful.
