Super hot production, but more you got the essence and vibe of the era. Nice double (or octave down, detuned C bass). Loved the counter rhythms. Atmosphere at its best!
Great composition. I liked 1.10 onwards, it references a main theme used in an end credit music but for a next season. At 1.46 you should do a remix, use lots of toms to build to a crescendo. I loved it as the song can be adapted to hiphop. The bass line is pure hiphop :D
Really strong classical strings and flows. Love the interchanges, pauses etc. Very mobile game music. Composition 100. Criticism needs a little bit more humanity (move the midi a little bit to the left and right and get a subtle off flow). Enjoyed it a lot!
Wow... super disco... nice guitar wakka. Complete with flute.... that's super sweet. Then into grand piano. Excellent composition... Flute and backing self produced or bought? Wanna know as if you produced it as I'm looking for this sound please name the products... :-D
Hey RAPREscENT,
thank you so much for the compliments.
Well, the modus operandi was as follows:
The DAW I do almost everything with is (believe it or not) Garage Band.
First I had this beat which consists partly of an apple loop that comes with Garage Band and then some additions like shakers, tambourines and cymbals, all pasted one by one. I always do that manual because to me the results sound more lively and real.
Then built some chord structure with keyboard so I could follow with my bass (custom made, Alembic pickups).
I remembered the combination of vibes and traverse flute from "All Night Long" by MARY JANE GIRLS (I guess that was Rick James) which I thought would be cool here. I played the melody via master keyboard manual again.
The flute solo in the first part is a mosaic of little samples from apple loops, a real piece of handicraft work.
Then the most pleasant part: my guitar solo in/for two voices – first take, spontaneously.
Well, all of it finally got mastered just with "LoudMax", a wonderful tool if you can't afford better equipment.
But really - I don't know how and why something like that works in the end and I surely am as surprised as anyone else how they sometimes groove like hell. You know – a friend once told me "Remember, Funk is a reward in itself" and I guess that is kinda true.
I just listened to some of your great work and it seems to me, we could do interesting stuff in collab ...
Wow... super smooth filling the air with a sweet bass, guitar and excellent complex but airy composition with the piano with quick staccato. Nice weighty keys.... seriously smooth!
Love the layering and the bouncing rhythms of the song. At 2.20 it comes into itself as an epic build song. It took a lot of discipline to bring to song back down at 2.49. Great stuff... seriously impressed
Thank you. I'm a big fan of both those bands and have seen both of them live multiple times back in the day. In The flatfield and Floodland are classics. So is Juju but I can't sing like Siouxsie Sioux. That's too bad.
Rhythmically good fist few minutes but then gets repetitive. Few colours, contrasts, or compliments to lead synth. A little more interesting at 5.15 in, but feeling there's little direction, anthem or overall hook to get the point you're trying to project.
Great flows and dope lyrics. Love the vocal when the audio pauses (hits offbeat the beat 4/4 - 1/4). For me a little too much reverb / echo. Love the long piano outro. Takes huevos to do that and not resist putting more vocals in. Respect
Kinda gangsta, or Yakuza rap instrumental :D. Liked the progressions. Not checked if you used asian chord progressions but it's great as it stands! Love it. More please.
Takes me back to early 2000's, very Moving Shadow EP (early days). Personally the best era of dnb. Loving how you are crossing over drums live mix desk style. Very fresh.. like at 1.05 to 1.09 then to another.
Sick flow. Not sure if its on purpose (or latency which kills my productions), would be cool for a re-edit to hit the end beat, or first beat on the bar (if you use 1-5 flows). Love the production great.... an inspiration!
Yeah my flow is naturally a little delayed but usually never completely off. This was just a freestyle I had laying around that I wanted to showcase, just a test run. I have several albums worth of my best material (full songs) that I will be recording in a few months as well as some products for serious artist in the community soon as well. Thanks for the listen and comment my friend!
Great track and production. Guitar work is excellent. This has a LOT of potential. I'm going to be a little harsh to help take it to another level. To get up there with Messugah the middle and end repeats far too much to be called progressive as it's all in 8/8. I'd play with doublet rhythms or doublet offbeats, or get the bass to pop twang on offbeats. My profile here is hiphop :-D but IRL my projects are more akin to Mr Bungle, Sikth, Isis and Tool
Hey helruna, thanks for the listen and taking time to drop a comment. I much appreciate it.
I totally agree with your assessment in that there is probably far too much repetition. I really had no intention of comparing this to anything like Meshuggah, Tool etc., its far too melodic and as you mentioned too straight forward with time signature. Which is why I made mention of Periphery in my description. I guess I could have taken more time to develop the structure and create more new content but in this case I merely wanted to take some old material and invest the least amount of time to put something half way decent together. I'm not really into this style so much which is probably the reason I failed to finish the song originally.
I certainly appreciate you weighing in on this and suggest you check out some of my other tracks. I do have a cover track of Meshuggah and a good variety of other genre stuff. I'm interested in checking out your music too, which I will definitely do.
Hey great track, loved the sample (took me back to early late 80's early 90's with Bomb the Bass and Pop Will Eat Itself. Nice and chill with a great kick and chances to do off beat vocals.
