An interesting piece of music, really well put together. It would have been better with a better mix, the kick drum disappears when the chorus hits and the prechorus parts are really woofy and boomy. Musically it's great!
Can't really find the genre on the loop so it was cool to hear something like this. You do need to work a bit more on your air support as the vocals lack power and your high fry screams are fading away. Just practice more and it will sound bigger and more powerfull and you'll be able to distort it more without hurting your voice. It would have sounded better if those guitars wouldn't have been right down the middle, double tracking them and panning left and right can do wonders.
Its great from a musical point of view but those vocals need to come up in volume and be a bit bigger, after all they are the focus of the song. It really has potential, just needs a better mix, more polished here and there, there is definitely room for improvement. Fix that and I don't see why you couldn't get some features here and there, musically it has what it takes.
Didn't I comment on this song? I must say it's probably the best piece of music I've heard from you. I really really like it. The arrangement and instrumentation are spot on for the genre, very Rascal Flats sounding in a really good way.
It would be great if you would roll of some top end form that vocal reverb to make it less shinny and smoother, it would work great. Or just use a mono delay set to around 160miliseconds (ms) and mix it underneath the lead vocal, for ambiance use 2 short delays one around 170-190ms and panned to the left and the other around 210-240ms and panned to the right. This combination will give you depth and a sense of space while being really subtle. YOu can also mix and extra stereo delay but longer underneath to give it a bit more vibe. Just some technical tips cause from a musical point of view it's amazing!
I would suggest double tracking those guitars and panning them hard left and right to really make it big. The song itself has potential but it needs a bit of polishing, just panning those guitars out will totally open up the space for the vocals and make the song a huge wall of sound. I'd also back of the reverb on the guitar, in this genre the guitars sound great brutal and in your face and reverb will just push it back and take of the edge.
I'm gonna check out some of your stuff, you've made me curious!
Holy shit....been a while since I've listened to this genre :))
You definitely have potential man. This is like the nords taking over the metal scene again :))))
You should let me mix some of your music, it might surprise you what a good mix can do.
I totally loved the breakdown, the sound overall feels like the bass is misssing but thats probably due to the kick overpowering the low end, the snare also comes from the left and it sounds a bit of. Are those guitars double tracked for left and right? if so you could pan them fully left and right cause at the moment everything sounds a bit claustrophobic, at least to my ears. A more open sound will totally make this pop out of the speakers.
Thank you, sir! Always nice to receive feedback. And you are totally right, this isn't mixed the way it should be ;-) I'll be honest and saying I haven't double tracked as this is purely a working concept for now. I intend to find a drummer and record actual drums, rather than using a VST plugin, and also find a true vocalist to redo the vocals properly. I'm not really fond of 'publishing' a track with computerised drums and my ******* vocals ;-)
I will however keep your offer in mind as I really do appreciate it!
Hey Malu, wow man coming from a pro like yourself that's music to my ears! I sometimes think the little audio asides I add maybe counter productive to the main groove so it's good to hear their working out fine, very much appreciate you stopping for a listen mate!...cheers Dave :)
Not a bad effort. The breadown is great and spot on, I love the chord selection. I liked the toms sound. Some elements of the song are really good and have some potential for development, it just needs some variation with the drums and guitar patterns.
And I absolutelly loved the triplet feel, Ialways love those changes. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for the feedback, Mahloo13. Very constructive, really appreciate it :) I'm leaving this one "on the shelfs", if you will, to revisit it later and take your comments into account.
Oh my...now this is how it's done. Totally diferent vibe from the first version. The guitar work is brilliant, the tone is great, the keyboards really give it a nice musical bed, the drums are great, fat snare and just the right groove to build on.
Smooth! This reminds me of the early days of hip-hop. I bet it would totally kill with some great vocals on top! Some nice layering in there. Really cool panning as well! Love the groove!
Good voice! You need to record it better though! I totally love the vibrato and the overall tone of your voice although you do go a bit nazally sometimes, it might be the microphone though.
Great voice to be honest! Classic sounding! Thanks for sharing!
Thank you for your honest input... I'm just a regular dude who has a passion for music. My gear is rinky dink and to be honest I don't know much about recording.
Wish I would of spent more time in my younger years figuring this all out...
But it's a lot of fun though...
Thank you once again for your kind input.

Damn! This is nice! Really nice! Totally love the orchestration. The arrangement is definitelly up there! Great sound overall, definitelly a great jazz song, great instrument interplay!
This is actually really cool although I never listen to this kind of music (alsmost never). I totally love the fuzzy sound. It's brilliant, and the vocals really spice it up, would have loved them in the middle with some doubler on the sides maybe but totally like the fuzzy sound.
The breakdowns are pure electricity! The rhythm is alert and I like that a lot, it sounds like it's pushing you forward and then dragging you back.
Funny how so much distortion and fuzzyness can work so well together! Actually reminded a bit of The Prodigy...don't ask why. There's a lot of groove in there!
Hey Mahloo! Thank you so much for the kind and supportive comments on this track! I am humbled by the reaction of many of the users here, and it gives me drive to do more along this line. The rhythms and the breaks were definitely what told me that this was the take, and that I needn't go any further, so I'm glad you liked what you heard as well. I really appreciate the listen and the fave!!!
This is a whole new level of psychelic music.Dark yet bluesy and ranchy at times. There are some timing errors in there but musically this is a cool journey, actually had me banging my head around. The riffs are tasty with that bluesy influence. And then you change them up but maintain the feel of the song, very well arranged.
I make lots of psychedelic music so I didn't really think of this one as being especially psychedelic. Utterly badass is what I'm going for though, as it's me, I guess I can't help making it a bit psychedelic and weird.
I'm quite curious where these timing errors are so any details on them would be great.
It wouldn't be surprising if there are some as most of the instrumentation is made up of leftover, recycled, cut up bits of guitar and bass from other tracks. I spent a lot of time tidying everything up and tightening the drums wherever possible (without losing the insane vibe) but I'm prepared to do more if it would help.
" riffs are tasty with that bluesy influence"
Yes, I sometimes can't help getting a bit bluesy with my hard rock/metal playing and some of the recycled parts come from a blues track though I guess that adds an extra flavour not present in lots of metal (so does the swing groove).
The slide solo is fun. I've done so much slide playing in so many genres, including heavy tracks.
There's some nice slide in the following heavy track, which is probably my best ever heavy track. Not as mental as this one but still pretty badass:
Technically there are some balance issues and I know this review is like a year late but you should add more overall ambience to the sounds. This genre greatly benefits from an anthemic sound. The vocals could use some spreading/doubling to make them sound bigger and more emphasized. They should also come up in volume.
The snare...is that an Alesis D5 sample? :) try a different sound...less body and more top mids and high end. I will help will the balance with all those orchestral sounds.
The guitars need a bit more 8kHz to get that airy/fizzy sound you hear in the original.
Again I don't know if this is the feedback you want, but the technical side of music is what I do so obviously I must comment on that. Musically it's a fabulous effort.
I felt very similarly to a lot of things in the song and still kick myself for ever releasing it that way. And that's why I decided to revise and re-mix it again with better drums and guitars and bass as well as production!
See what you think of the new and improved version, I gave a link below. I'd love to hear your thoughts on that one as well! ^_^

unfortunately there is not much to get out of the voice as it comes from a wave track ... here from looperman
from a technical point of view, there are also limits to mastering for me
but I do not think that's bad for this platform either
