I really like this song. I gotta say I am not much of a fan of the new school hip hop (I was raised on KRS-One, Run DMC and Beastie Boys so the new sound doesn't always appeal to me) This beat had my attention right away though. Love your flow.
Your mate has a great voice... and this is a seriously cool track. You've got the whole British Indie sound going on here. Really really love this track! It's always good to step outside the box when you get a chance, its how you grow ;)
Okay I dunno what's up with this site lately... cuz I type a review then realize it's not there. It's gotten to the point I've started double checking every review I make. Anyway... this is the new version of the track then? I was gonna compare, misread and thought this was the old one.
This is a pretty wicked track man, I don't know what you did differently exactly because I didn't hear the first...but I love the way this sounds in my headphones. EDIT: Yay that comment stayed!
Thanks for the review, Lisa, means a lot.
Basically, I messed around with some filters on the bass and the sample, so that where it just had a wobble on the volume, I put on on a couple of effects, to give it that pretty messed up sound. I also cut the intro a bit.
Thanks again for the review.
Kii.
When I first started out collecting loops I of course came across the Kate Lesing loops... I immediately loved her voice. I find a lot of the vocal loops and acapellas you find around the web are too much alike to catch my attention but hers did. This was a really cool track man, I love those synths. Faved :)
Okay this beat had me hooked right off the bat.. the ol' school sound is where it's at for me. Your rhymes are f***in wicked man. I hope you get signed... maybe you can fix rap radio ;)
This was a laid back and gorgeous listen. I agree with Slap that some vocals would add a lot to the track. Really great job with the mix, it has lots of dimension in my headphones.
Okay so you have a new fan here. THIS is what made me love hip-hop when I was younger... before it got turned into watered down crap. This has serious underground vibes, I love it!
thanks. got slot more to post but still needs some more editing. sniped out your tracks and theyre sick too. always down to collab and make ome ill music. i have an idea and a beat that i can combine our styles with if your down
Dude this is nothing short of SICK. I am reminded of old Del tha Funkee Homosapien's stuff (before he sold out) as soon as you came in with your flow. I love this beat too... just cool as hell.
Haha, I gotta admit your song titles are creative. The imagery alone of the title made me want to check it out. Again, you've managed to incorporate organic sounds into electronic music. Very very cool... again not really trance - this could maybe fall under ambient/experimental? I dunno, I just know I like it ;)
One of my bands was called "The Hybrid Association" and our mission statement was "There are a bunch of people playing music around the world. We're some of those people." I'm posting "Kali with Peanut Sauce" next.
First off, love the title... and deffo have it aptly named. Funny thing is, you've translated your organic music knowledge very well into electronica because this still manages to sound organic. Very cool track... not sure if I'd call it trance myself, perhaps maybe ambient? Trance tends to be 4/4 time with heavy synths... this is much more atmospheric. Lovely :)
Thanks,
I actually considered labeling it as ambient as well, but after listening to a dozen ambient tracks here I thought otherwise. Perhaps I better listen to more!
About the only critique I have has already been said, it def could use some vocals to break it up. You need to find someone to work with to do some acapellas for you :) Hardcore isn't really my thing but I liked this a lot, keep up the awesome work!
This is some pretty cool stuff dude. Slap's a pretty amazing musician, no? I love the way you've used all the elements, and that break in the middle was great. Awesome listen!
I really love the way you've combined filtered drums with the rhodes and piano sounds... it's added texture to the track - which is always good. Love the variation of this and the kind of classical feel of the note progressions in spots. Great use of guitar samples too. Awesome work! :)
Thank you :)
I have a special feeling for this track as it's my favorite of all the ones I've made. I'm glad you liked it. Course it's really a tribute to the great loop artists on this site especially. Thank you again. :)
Really love this, those vocals sound wicked - well worth the work you put into it. That bass is killer. I agree with Ioka maybe the beat could be punched up just a little (but it doesn't detract from it being a sick track!) I like the bells, nice touch.
thank you lisa - first review from a female about a track with ma vocalz on wow WANT MOOORE!!!! *smile* appreciate real much! keepup lisa cheerz dusthill
Aside from a bit too much volume, especially on the distorted bass, this is a wicked track. First you say? Wow... can't wait to see more posted!
As you get used to the software you'll learn more about levels and develop an ear for volume levels. Awesome stuff man.
I don't know what was going on yesterday with the site, but I had several comments disappear on me. I DID comment on this. I believe I even said hardcore is usually not my thing, but that with tracks like this I could be converted. I admit when it comes to electronica I am drawn toward the darker side usually, but this has a darker tone than the happy hardcore my old roomie used to listen to. I really like this a lot, including that little stutter you've tossed into the beat. That was why I faved it ;) Now let's hope this comment sticks!
I really like the fact that you've drawn inspiration from something you read in a book... it says a lot about non-linear thinking. This was really cool, I love the progression with the strings and guitars up to that crescendo. Enjoyed this loads.
Thanks Lisa. I suppose using a sci fi book as inspiration reveals my nerdiness. I'm hoping to keep going with this and try some other songs inspired by people and places in the book. Once a nerd, always a nerd. :-)
I'm glad you liked it. Thanks for taking the time to review.
I love these lyrics, first and foremost. I can actually really relate to them... I'm on that road right now.
You have a radio-ready sound on all your tracks.. it makes me realize how much I need to learn about mixing lol. Again, I love your voice. I remember when I first joined I think you only had one track that had you singing on it at the time. Glad to hear you using it more :)
This was a really beautiful song, especially for being sparked by a comment about a picture ;)
Hi Lisa, wow girl! You really know how to make a guy feel special. Firstly thank you for taking the time to listen, and review mutiple tracks, I feel somewhat honoured by the time this must have taken you! Thank you! I have not been around much of late, mainly because of work, but I feel a real sense of loss over loosing bilbozo from this site. One of the highlights recently was your return, and I'm pleased to hear things are working out for you now. I was looking through the pictures section the other day, and came across some of your beautiful images (non of this standing looking like a gangsta rubbish), but you have a real eye for a good picture, and it was a joy to look at your uploads.
Holding your chin up can be a pretty hard thing to do, when the world keeps making your jaw drop. You have helped me stand firm and still call this place home. Kind words of truth and support from one so far, but yet only a message away...Thank you
Haha... I can't help but laugh when I see the word vibraslap... cause someone on facebook started a vibraslap group for fans of the instrument, with forums discussing what songs use it.
This was gorgeous, I love that flute solo. Well more than the flute solo actually, but you know what I mean! lol
AHA, there's my answer to the question about an album.
Sooo.... where can I buy it?
You seriously blow me away, I wish I could borrow just a lil of your musical talent just to learn guitar properly ;) This is just solid musicianship all the way around... and you know, your higher range kind of reminds me of Sting.
