Description : this is just a demo of a track i am working on at the moment. all the tracks are first takes. i just wanted to put it out there and see what the feedback is. not sure if i should leave it as a "quiet" track or fill it up with loads of other elements.
hoping the looperman family can put their 2cents in :)
Description : Winston Churchill talks about youth and war.
I also wanted to move away from the piano for once - and went full on synth with this. Added in some strings and a few other elements. I was going to call it a night when the muse came knocking.
Hard to ignore... much like the subject matter.
Description : the indian flute makes a welcome return in this one - it's more a conversation than a tune. i used a slow beat - which stops and goes at abrupt intervals. i've also used a very 'synthetic' analog voice in the back (doubling as the bassline).
just felt like messing around and this girl showed up on the pc screen.
Description : This is a serious work in progress. I dug it out from the deepest depths of my PC. It wants to be 'done' - but I feel stuck somehow. So drop me line with your suggestions and comments - would love to have 'Nova' grow into something stellar!
See it as a journey beyond the stars ... but also a journey within yourself.
Thanks for taking the time to listen - looking forward to the feedback !

Description : I start it off with some Pygmies chanting... and then load it up on the "Epic" beats from PlanetJazzbass. (Thanks!)
I threw in some tremolo strings and a French horn, which reminds me a lot of "Putting the damage on" by Tori Amos off the "Boys For Pele" album.
I can go on and on about the subject matter for days. As always, I get to say here what I haven't the nerve/courage/balls to say in real life. He won't know it's about him.
Description : I wrote this song for a specific event.... with a specific person that inspired the entire track. Makes it so much easier to really "feel" where you need to go with a song.
Description : i'm falling deeper
than even i know
this hill is steeper
i cannot go
to the summit of our love
it's all that i've been dreaming of
deeper
i'm falling deeper
in love with you
slowly, slowly
you'll feel it too
deeper into the sky
blue as the light in your eyes
the light in your eyes
you take me hand
you touch my palm
you read the stories in my heart
you are the moon
and the stars
falling deeper
i'm falling deeper
deeper
deeper
i'm hanging on for dear life
seize the final light
the amber glow
behind your eyes
the fortress wall
cannot subside
deeper
deeper
deeper
inside
Description : EDIT: I took into consideration some advice I got on the track - and realised I HATED the vocals I did on this! So, spent an afternoon fixing it up a bit... adding some additional harmonies, and now feel much happier about the end result. Jeeeez... that first draft was false! hehehe
Thanks for the suggestion DFury :)
(song for O'Shea)
A day... condensed into a song. Dublin, as I remember it. Thanks to DJ4Real for the beautiful "Bells" loop. Also used in this track - harp, piano (layered), tremolo strings and an Indian flute. (albeit briefly)
saw you standing there
in a flurry of red roses
at the top of Grafton street
i flew up
i flew up
i flew high o'er St. Stephen's green
and this is where I am
everytime I see your name
taking me back
to the bus stop outside the museum
where the bones of a warrior
lies in rest
forever and ever passing the test of time
test of time
everytime i look into his eyes
i wished he were you
i wished he were you
and i was just a child
i didn't know what love was
you stood the test of time
i didn't know what love was
everytime i look into his eyes
i fly up
i fly up
o'er St. Stephen's Green
the Liffey
Grafton street
Description : She's playing her cards, close to her chest...
Not sure what I did with the levels in this one, but instead of fiddling with it, I thought I'd upload and get some feedback. Dorothy's in there... and she ain't in Kansas no more.
A bit of French Horn... and the ever-present twinkly piano bits.
Description : Neil Armstrong, an Oud, sprinkling of Egyptian flavour, walking on the moon and looking at the stars. Seeing red - not green and blue.
i cannot tame
what you are
i cannot fill
that hole in your heart
i cannot be
everyone you ever loved
i cannot be
the perfect girl
that's just not possible
in this world
this world
from here
everything is clear
i see red
only red
i cannot turn you back
into what you were
i cannot make this go away
and if you lie awake
each and every night
wishing on a star
i cannot fill
that hole in your heart
that hole in your heart
breaks my heart
i cannot tame what you are
i cannot fill that hole in your heart
i cannot be every girl you ever loved x 2
in your heart
Description : A study in ambience - with bells, reverb, piano, and some awesome loops from ... who else... planetjazzbass! (Thanks!)
Stay till the end of the track for the full effect.
Image yourself, underwater, running out of air... your chest burning...
Description : I did about 7 vocal tracks in this. I used a lot (and I mean ... a LOT) of reverb, echo and a multitude of effects. See it as a little experiment in vocals... :)
The theme sticks to my usual epically, dramatic over-indulgent thematics... this one features eels, warriors and war!
Enjoy - and any comments/reviews are welcomed.
Lyrics, for your reading pleasure below:
noble warrior
lay your shield down
by the river
all the eels are
jumping out of cages
through the ages
hungry, hungry
we all stay hungry
for a victory
for a battle that is over
noble warrior
lay your shield down
here
in the forest
i will count the heads of wheat
laying by our feet
my feet
lay your
lay your shield down
lay your shield down, warrior
Description : A short song about being somewhere other than here. A feeling, more so than a place.
Just me, the piano and an orgel towards the end. Plain and simple. Done in one take.
I have no idea what genre to put this into? Any suggestions?
Description : ...some Gregorian chants, cinematic strings and a lotta soul in this one.
subject matter = personal and profound
comments = always welcome!
Thanks to the fabulous MINOR2GO for his beautiful string loop Poetry in this!
Description : I used a 12-string guitar, a native American flute, legato strings and even a "puff" organ on this tune. The theme stays with a previous track ("Fire"), but I included the speech by J. Robert Oppenheimer on the aftermath of the A-bomb. Perhaps, in part, to draw comparison between the effect of a nuclear blast & the feeling of intense desire. To do harm... to want.
I placed it in the "cinematic" genre, because I aim to create lush landscapes of the imagination with my sound - akin to the work of an apt cinematographer, painting visual landscapes.
I'm any case... enough rambling. Give me about 5 minutes, and I promise you a lush, operatic tune to hum as you drive to work the day after hearing it.
Description : I hope I will not get sued and thrown in jail - but I really wanted to share my interpretation of Chris Isaak's Wicked Game with you guys.
I recorded this a while ago, and I would like to think I have gotten a little better ... but anyhoot. Maybe you like it, maybe you dont. As always - I welcome all comments / advice, etc.
(As mentioned in my profile - you can properly hear me playing the pennywhistle / indian flute in this - in my other tracks I tend to blend it into the mix in the background)
Description : This is an old song, that somehow managed to not get onto looperman. Found it this morning. I put it as Acouctic... although it's got a little jazzy / pop vibe in there.
It ties in with the theme of Blame, one of my other tracks on here... It also used to be a poem before it became a song.
I used a very chilled beat on this. And I know the vocal is super "raw"... but I didn't want to change it and re-record anything on the main vocal on purpose, to retain the energy.
Anyways, hope you enjoy listeneing to it and feel free to leave a comment.
