Description : A Global Ska Network song with a truly global collaboration quality. This track features Planet on jazz bass and Bilbozo on guitar and hammond organ. The song has a total of 24 individual tracks (nine piece horn section, mutiple rhythm and lead guitar tracks using various effects, percussion, cymbals, 4 vocals ect). I just love the way the track knits together with Dave & Bill's parts just slotting straight in. The track is 6mins in length, which is long for me, I normally have things finished at around the 3-4 minute mark, but this track just came out like that, so I hope you dig the arrangement. I have to thank Dave & Bill for their input into this song, and for wanting to get involved in the GSN project. Please feel free to comment on any aspect of the track. This is the first mix of the song, so if you feel a remix is in order, please feel free to say what needs to be changed, and I will endeavour reach perfection.
Drums by Sonic foundry, Slap on vocals, horns, guitars, Dave (Planet) Bass, Bill (Bilbozo) lead guitar and hammond. Recorded in ableton live using line 6 tone port ux2....

Description : Yet another Ska track to get you skanking. I have come full circle by concentrating on this great genre. This was the first music I really subscribed to as a kid, I mean wearing the clothes, buying the records, starting my first band and wanting to be a musician. This song is all about not worrying about trivial stuff and living your life as best you can. All instruments and vocals by Slap, drums and percussion by Sonic foundry...
All comments welcome, as I have said on all of these songs, I'm trying to get the best all round results possible!
I thank you all in advance for taking the time to listen.

Description : This is an instrumental track I have been working on over the last few days. It features a full horn section in the chorus section, and a tenor sax playing the lead lines through the verse sections. I have dropped in a funky flute solo for the middle break. I have just re-discovered tremelo effect for the guitar, so I have layed down a trem guitar along with a clean guitar rhythm. The bass is my yamaha, which is active. This allows for a greater tone selection and depth, I have tried to get depth with the bass here. I'm a huge percussion fan, so the usual shakers, tambourine and congas come out to play, as well as a vibraslap!
All comments welcome!

Description : This song was inspired by a road near to where I live. I have a picture in my gallery of rainbow road, Planet left a comment about it saying it would make a good song, so I thought I would give it a go. I would like to dedicate this song to people who hold faith in their hearts and are prepared to stand up for what they believe in. All instruments and vocals by Slap, drums Sonic foundry.

Description : Totally bored stiff after a bad day!!!! So I suppose you could call this therapy... One acoustic guitar track recorded first take, then one soprano sax track recorded first take, add a touch of reverb and a small amount of compression. Now I feel better. I hope this has the same soothing effect on you...

Description : This song is about desire (forbidden fruit). I'm sure this little story will ring true with a few here. I have pulled all the stops out on this, 9 piece horn section, soaring lead guitar intro and link from my Les Paul, bass and tenor sax solos (first bass solo I have ever recorded). The song has a blues flavour with a twist of slow latin mixed. I don't know how that happened, but I'm glad it did.

Description : I love 22 Catch's style, so when this song had a space to fill I asked if he would contribute and he said yes. The song starts with a beatbox flute rhythm then quickly develops into a funk groove. I have recorded a huge horn section on this track (think Tower of power) 8 horns in total. All instruments are played by me. The idea came about when I was practising on the flute, and out popped that hook idea. I hope you enjoy this one, I think it's real sexy! Cheers Slap...

Description : Pop ballad featuring harmonica & full horn section. I just love my acoustic guitar at the moment , everytime I pick it up a song comes out. The lyrics are about the typical love stuff, but I feel they are some good lines in this one. Recorded in Ableton 5.1 using line 6 toneport all tuned instruments Slap, drums and percussion sonic foundry. All comments welcome. Cheers Slap...

Description : This song is written in tribute to the music of the Beatles.
What a band!! I listen to their music quite a bit and it amazes me that it was recorded on a four track and bounced down to get more track space, it sounds so fresh and clear, George Martin is a genius. The song writing, vocal harmonies and musicianship are sublime...

Description : This is a collaboration with Dusthill. I / we have been knocked for six over Bilbozo's announcement. Truth be known "I love the guy" as I know you do too. He represents the reason I/we love music, the ability through an instrument to stir real emotion, to bring you up and to take you down. I have always looked forward to everyone of Bill's uploads, and also had the pleasure to collaborate with him on a good few projects. I know this will continue, but I (like you also) don't want Bill to leave. This track by Dusthill is a great track, we are so lucky to have such diverse artists working side by side on this site for the common good of MUSIC. I put all of the sense of loss I'm feeling into my playing, and also the sense of anger/frustration I have been feeling about how this has come about.
All I can say to all reading this is, Do we want Bill to leave?

Description : I have tried to go back to a jazz standard feel on this track, so no big horn sections just drums, bass, guitar and percussion as a rhythm section, sax plays the head, with the flute breaking the lead up from the sax to add another melody flavour. All instruments by Slap, drum by sonic foundry.... All comments welcome Cheer Slap...

Description : This is my entry for Barry's competition. I have tried to reach a spiritual level with my playing on this track (this is the highest I have played on the alto, listen for the key change and you will hear). I would be lying if I said I had spent along time working on this track, truth be known, I played through the song twice. But! In saying that, it has taken twenty five years of playing, study and life experience to put in what I played on this. I have left the track alone, apart from snipping the intro off and replacing it with a sax lead in. I love the Pink Floyd feel Barry has captured in this offering, and have to say to all reading this, how honoured I am to know Barry and call him my friend. He is to me ,a true human being....

Description : This track is taken from the Binge thinking album, I have just completed for the RPM challenge. The album features 9 tracks written and recorded in the month of Febuary by myself. This song features a full horn section playing harmonies, over a acoustic guitar . Listen out for the soprano sax ( high beautiful sound, very majestic ). Recorded in Ableton 5.3 using line 6 tone port. All instruments and vocals Slap...

Description : I had 30 minutes spare between lessons this morning, so rather than twiddle my thumbs I decided to record something. This is what came out of that session. I placed a capo on the 9th fret of my acoustic, found a sequence and recorded it in one take, then picked up the soprano sax, and realizing I was in the key of F#major set about a melody pronto. I started to record after a run through and felt I should keep the first take after listening back. It pretty much captures what was in my head. Recorded using line 6 tone port and Ableton live. I hope you enjoy it's relaxing quality.. Cheers Slap...

Recorded live in the studio(piano and vocals) then I dropped the sax down. Simple but effective arrangement.

Description : New track taken from a new album i'm working on entitled "Before the devil takes me down" this is the second track from the album, the first`being "Fragile wings". This song features a clarinet section instead of the usual sax section I put in my songs. I'm sure you will enjoy the different warmer sound the clarinet makes. The song is about a bloke I know, bit of a bastard really, just lies about everything. It must be shit to live with a compulsive lying get like this. I think the song reflects the only decent thing he can do in a relationship, but this is my angle on his story and not his own. I hope you enjoy the song. Cheers Slap...

Description : Sounds a bit depressing, but this song was written about someone I know who self harms, Don't let this put you off, I think this is one of the best songs i've ever written! The song starts quite gentle with a nice little harmonica intro, good build in to the first chorus, the middle 8 sits just right for the guitar solo straight after ( all the sounds are from line 6 tone port, this box is so easy to use and record with and is cheap check it out @ line6.com) let me know what you think, your comments are always welcome.

Description : written and recorded in two hours, drums and percussion are samples, the rest I put down track by track as the arrangement came together. I always start with the guitar first ( after all this is how I wrote the track) with a basic beat, then I put the bass, then it's time for the brass section ( which really lifts the track ), then after a few cups of tea it was vocal time, in the choruses I double tracked using an octave below the lead vocal. Hope you like this track, I think it ROCKS!!! Cheers Slap..

Description : This song is about where I used to live (The shit end of town). I used a nice five piece section on the intro, three saxophones and two flutes, I love using percussion , it just helps to add that little extra rhythmical interest working with the drums. I placed an alto solo in the bridge between the vocal phrases just to help it lift. This tune just fell out a couple of weeks ago, when I started thinking back to where I used to live, I am so glad I don't live there anymore, it's just been voted worst place to live in Britain... I hope you enjoy it..

Description : simple acoustic track which I have just completed. Acoustic recorded direct through tone port into ableton live, I then added the solo alto sax line, vocals, sax & flute section, with just a little percussion in the bridge to lift the rhythm. I wanted the words to be heard in this song so I left it stripped back on purpose, let me know what you think.

Description : This is the first song I have finished of the 30 new tracks I'm currently working on. The song was written and recorded in one hour. I was basically playing the acoustic and this idea came out, so I recorded the guitar down first take, then improvised around to find some ideas for the sax. I've called it Fragile wings because of it's delicate beauty, like a butterfly on a summers breeze. I hope the song gives you a peaceful time while you listen. Cheers Slap...

Description : Hopefully this is a fitting tribute to Trey. Since hearing the tragic news all I wanted to do is respond the best way I could to remember a major talent to this site. This song came out and is by no means a reflection of Treys short life, but this song has helped me come to terms with the fact he has gone. I hope as you listen you can understand where I'm coming from and I also hope you will look up Treys profile" fiend", and listen, review and download this talented artist's work.
Recorded in Ableton 5.3 and line 6 toneport, drums and percussion Sonic foundry, all the rest is Slap. R.I.P Trey, your mate from across the pond Slap...

Description : A summer song for lovers. I have featured a slide guitar on this track which I'm currently learning, it helps to give this song it's dreamy feel. Full horn section part and on the chorus doubled vocals to add depth. I hope you enjoy the third song from my forth coming album " Before the devil takes me down". All comments welcome.
